What did this book teach you about beauty?

Because this book is among my favorites of the past five years, I'm mostly curious to hear from others who enjoyed it. If you didn't like the book but decide to join the conversation thread, please try to respond to the question vs. ranting about what you didn't like.

i just finished this book, and absolutely adore it. Not just the characters and story, but especially the words. The way things, people, and ideas are described.

Our book club read this in March of 2021 and a part of my summary from our discussion we noted a bit about this idea of "beauty". "It is about beauty, and more specifically, what is the point of beauty? Why do we need beauty? Renée uses art to get away from the day to day work of her life but we also see her use Art to carry her through life's ups and downs such as when awaiting the passing of Mr Arthens. "At times like these you desperately need Art. You seek to reconnect with your spiritual illusions, and you wish fervently that something might rescue you from your biological destiny, so that all poetry and grandeur will not be cast out from the world." And at this point, Renée watches her favorite film, The Munekata Sisters.
