NBRC Travel Agent | 368 comments Your itinerary is here

When you have a team name, just let me know and I'll update this thread name :)

First stop - Porto Seguro, Brazil

message 3: by NBRC Travel Agent (last edited Jun 18, 2017 11:56PM) (new)

NBRC Travel Agent | 368 comments So just to get you started...

Your first stop is Porto Seguro, Brazil

You can choose as a team to:
TASK
- Read books set in Brazil, or by Brazilian authors or
- Do a spell-it-out of Porto Seguro or Brazil

OR
You can elect to do the detour, which for this stop, means that four of you need to "Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2006 - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable"

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments Hi! There's only four of us for now, but let's get started anyway. xD

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments Yes :D

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments We need to decide on a name first. Any thoughts?

message 9: by Varsha (new)

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments We're already three days in, let's jump into the challenge and come up with a name as we go along.

message 10: by Adi Rocks Socks (new)

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments Makes sense! What task are we choosing?

message 11: by Varsha (new)

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments I don't have any books set in Brazil, so can we do the spell-it-out? :)

message 12: by Adi Rocks Socks (new)

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments Fine by me. :) Considering there are so few of us, we could probably spell out Brazil?

message 13: by Varsha (new)

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments I can take B and Z, and R too if need be :)

message 14: by Adi Rocks Socks (new)

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments Wow, that's a lot! :) I can do the letter A within the week. That leaves I and L.

message 15: by Varsha (new)

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments It kind of has to be, seeing as there's only four of us and you and I seem to be the only active participants.

message 16: by Adi Rocks Socks (new)

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments Eh, let's wait for a while and see, shall we? :)

I -
L -

message 20: by Adi Rocks Socks (new)

Adi Rocks Socks (adirockssocks) | 62 comments I'm thinking of reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, for A.

A little about me: I'm twenty years old, I aspire to become a lawyer, and I hope I'll get to tour Europe someday. :) :)

message 22: by Varsha (new)

Varsha Ramakrishnan | 33 comments Great! I'm done with The Name of the Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch for B. Working on Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard for R xD

~ I have this book on one of my challenge lists. ;)

~ for "L" I can use Last Hope Island: Britain, Occupied Europe, and the Brotherhood That Helped Turn the Tide of War by Lynne Olson

~ or if Abby wants to take "L" she can choose a book for that and I will save this book for another challenge. :)

Hey Abby, we have one letter left in our spell-it-out. If you could read something for L (Title, author's fist name or last name), that would be great :)

Abby We need a name too. Any ideas?

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 273 comments Maybe I am just the weird one, but I like the tv show 24 with Keifer Sutherland, where it took 24 hours to solve a crime. I actually like the name Team 24, but I know we need to come up with something more original. I have been trying to come up with something, but not sure what everyone else in the group likes.

I did not tell you anything about me...I am probably the oldest one in the group...I am almost 50, and I have a daughter who is 26 and is getting married in August. I used to have two Pug Boys, but one just passed earlier this month due to a hereditary illness and the other one is being kept by someone else until I can move to my own place and have another dog. I love to read and write (aspiring novelist) and I am a History geek. I volunteer at a museum where I live that involves a lot of history.

And speaking of which...I am usually out most of the day on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays as those are the days I am at the museum the longest. I don't access GR from the phone, but I do take books with me to read in-between guests. So, if on one of those days I do not answer for awhile, don't worry, I always check in when I get home. :)

That's very interesting! :) What part of history does the museum where you work focus on? I love going to museums, so I find it extremely cool that you work in one. xD

I'm fine with you joining Christine. The more the merrier right. I think we have to tell the NBGR Travel Agent so he can update it up top. (That is if everyone else is OK with you joining)

Hi Christine! As Abby said, the more the merrier. :)

Right now, we have a handle on the current challenge, but we'll soon be done. Would you like to join us for the next one? :) (Varsha and Stormie have no problems with you joining, which I doubt they will!)
