Greetings!
As we are going to be talking about books that we have read over the past month that we have enjoyed, I expect to come away with a notebook full of recommendations!
Anyone not able to make it to meet us on Monday, please comment here, or e-mail your book comments in and I shall read them to the group on your behalf.
Happy reading!

Hi, sorry I won't be able to attend either tonight or for the cinema night. Here are the books I've read -
The Girl with all the Gifts and The Boy on the Bridge both by M.R. Carey. I enjoyed both of them because of the interaction of the characters. OK, you know you're going to read about a virus that turns most of the population into 'hungries' i.e. vampire like zombies, but I thought both the books were well written.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. SciFi book about a bounty hunter who 'retires' Andys, i.e. rogue androids who want to be human. Weird but maybe not too far a stretch of the imagination? Not in my lifetime I hope.
None but the Dead by Lin Anderson. Set in Sanday, north of Orkney a body is found under the tarmac of a former schoolhouse. Forensic scientist and a Detective from Glasgow try to unravel the mystery. I enjoyed it. Similar to Ann Cleave books.
The Summer Book by Tove Jansson (Moomins). Based on summer holidays on a tiny island with Grandmother and her Father. Beautiful descriptions of nature.
Resistance is Futile by Jenny Colgan. Reading this was futile! Mathematicians hidden away with a message from another galaxy. Who was it from and what did it say? Gave up after a few chapters.
Saigon Tea by Graham Reilly. Two brothers growing up in Glasgow, one makes his way to Australia then Vietnam. Full of bad language and Glasgow humour, I enjoyed it but it's not for everyone.
The Little Theatre by the Sea by Rosanna Ley. Set in Sardinia a newly qualified interior designer is asked to house sit for her friend and assist in restoring an old theatre. Holiday love story.
The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro. Grace gets a letter to tell her she is to benefit from the estate of a woman of whom she has never heard. The story takes place in Paris and New York and has a then and now layout. I thought it was a easy summer holiday read.
I'm going to try a few more on the TBR list that Laura posted and will be interested to find out any recommendations for my next read.

Hi. Thanks for being so welcoming. Really enjoyed listening to everyone's recommendations, and look forward to hearing of your literary travels next month!
Hi everyone, I too enjoyed last night and have now increased my massive reading list to even more massive! Lots of the books sounded so interesting. Looking forward to Laura's list!
Elvine, I too really enjoyed The girl with all the gifts. I particularly liked the ending. Will give The boy on the bridge a go when I can!
Hi all,
there was a really good atmosphere, wasn't there? I do love hearing everyone's opinions :) I shall compile the list of recommendations now, and then compile a few inspirations for travel reading :)
Happy reading!
