Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments Greetings...I'm an American Fantasy author living in Sydney, Australia. That right there should tell you I like adventure and my stories are only an extension of that passion. I'm a fairly new author as I have only just released my first novel back in May, however, I have a longer background in directing and screenwriting films. Screenwriting and Novel writing are quite different and it's nice for me to be able to mix it up. Since the age of 13, I've played and enjoyed Dungeons & Dragons normally running my own games as the Dungeon Master for others. From these rich interactions, I've a plethora of interesting ideas and stories to share. I'll leave this part of the thread as my introduction and most details and updates about myself down below. Cheers!

Hello and welcome aboard Jon!

message 3: by Jon (new)

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments Thanks for the welcome G.G.

I'm new to the novel author world with my first fantasy book "Gorp: Goblin Janitor".

$11.99

Gorp the goblin is fleeing his lands in search of better employment. With only a cloth map to guide him, he sets out across the sea to secure work at Ye Olde Dungeon working for the sinister Dungeon Overlord Jamalin Spellslinger. Once there, along with a group of misfit monsters, Gorp is hired on as a janitor to clean up the messes left behind by the horde of fortune, glory, and treasure seeking adventurers. But all is not well within the dungeon as the Red Dragon has ideas and an agenda of his own.

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments I'm running my Author's blog here at GoodReads and cover my techniques and upcoming projects in my blog. At the moment I'm embarking on creating a new Choose Your Own Adventure series and documenting the process I'm going through on my blog. Give it a follow if you would like to keep updated on my progress.

Thank you Danae, I'm not sure how to measure the success of a GR giveaway, but I'd be happy if 250 people want an unknown author's book.

Matt Cowper | 22 comments I've played D&D inspired video games (Planescape Torment being the most notable one), but, to my regret, I've never done the pen and paper thing.

Welcome, and keep your +3 Claymore of Quality Writing sharp!

It's never too late, still today you can find local games going on. First check for a local gamestore, and if you can't find anyone running a game, do what I did and run one yourself.

Cheers!

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments I have another free giveaway of the paperback copy of my fantasy novel "Gorp: Goblin Janitor". This time over on Amazon, ends next Monday.

Matt Cowper | 22 comments Just entered your giveaway.

"But all is not well within the dungeon" - are things ever well in a dungeon? :)

message 13: by Jon (new)

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments From a PC point of view no, but flip it tothe Dungeon Managers POV, everything should be running smoothly.

Thanks for entering ;)

Matt Cowper | 22 comments I just plowed through every dungeon in every video game I've played. Guess those dungeon managers weren't good at their jobs. Hard to find good help these days.

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments While busy with other projects, I've recently taken some time off from writing my personal projects to try my hand at Anthologies and was selected from among 10 authors to have their works published in this Fantasy Anthology, it's my first one.

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments I decided to write my next Gorp the Goblin book during this year's NaNoWriMo 2017. As of last night, I won the NaNoWriMo by crossing the 50k word count line. However, this is going to be a bit longer of a novel than my first in the series. As I was writing the novel here in Australia, I've been featured by one of the local libraries and had a Q&A done with me, that is posted on their news site.

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments Just spent a few days building out my author site about dealing with a lot of hosting problems. I finally got the site up and running. Let me know what you think. http://author.jonray.net

message 18: by Matt (new)

Matt Cowper | 22 comments Looks good. I do think the background image of your fantasy world is a bit distracting, though. Others may like it, but I prefer web stuff to be simple and sharp.

message 19: by Jon (new)

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments Yes and no. I'm still not completely settled on the color scheme or the background, but I tried a simple color and the site looks a bit more amateurish. I'm also redoing my book cover on Gorp and hopefully will have some fresh graphic content to use as well. Thanks for checking it out.

Jon Ray (jonray) | 17 comments Wow! It's been over a year since my last update and quite a few things have changed. Back on Christmas Day of 2018, I released the 2nd book in the Gorp the Goblin series called, "Gorp: Dungeon Overlord". It is available worldwide on Amazon, iTunes, Kobo and other retailers. Below are the promos I've been using and a glimpse of the new book covers. I also got a new book cover for the first Gorp book and the 3rd book, which I'm currently finishing up on will be released later this year in 2019.
