I read Things Fall Apart for English the past school year and I found it very enjoyable through its descriptions of the Ibo culture and the results of the arrival of Europeans. Colonialism is typically overlooked in introductory history classes (at least those that I've taken) and would I strongly recommend this book, as well as the next novel in the series, No Longer at Ease, to anyone with little knowledge of African culture, which I personally find fascinating as a result of reading this novel. The many interesting characters are easy to identify with on multiple levels and Achebe's writing style makes the novel a fantastic work of prose.

I'd read this book a long time back and found it very powerful too. The story just flows effortlessly and Achebe gets into the thoughts of the characters in a very honest way.
