Hey~ Sorry for the delay -I have to finish this one thing before midnight-, and thank you for creating the thread!!So. What genre would you like to play in?
You're completely fine, I understand. Deadlines really suck. xDTypically I do paranormal roleplays, but I'm always up for something new. Anything you're particularly in the mood for?
They do indeed. So much..Ooh Paranormal sounds fun~ Do you have a plot or specific setting in mind? I'm fine with most anything
I'm just lucky I have a bit of downtime before I have any pressing arrangements, I suppose.Hm. We could base it in highschool or college. Possibly summer camp, that might be a little easier. Less skipping through class periods. Those are my ideas for setting, I guess, if you have any preference between them all.
Mm, very lucky indeed~ Enjoy your free time while you have it! Although it's only after it's gone that the longing really kicks in eh? Haha~Summer camp would be so fitting too~ That would be my preference for now.
And so, what sort of paranormal where you thinking? Paranormal Camp as in everyone there is a creature, or there are a few creatures blending in, or there are humans who encounter weird paranormal activities?
I guess that's true. I do kind of miss my friends. xD Although I'm not really missing all the stress. It really would be fitting. And hm.. Maybe either that it's a paranormal camp or like half of them fitting in as creatures. Then again, the humans could still have abilities? Like telekinesis or pyrokinesis. Doesn't have to be limited to non-humans if we don't want it to, after all.
But alas, that's the price isn't it? Friends for stress. Alright, that sounds good. A paranormal camp with creatures and kids with abilities and the occasional curious and enthusiastic human.
Do you have a plot or idea for a plot planned out at all? There needs to be some conflict to resolve after all yeah?
Very true. Real wisdom right there. The setting sounds pretty good, yeah. As for the plot.. Maybe some sort of trouble surrounding the camp itself? Or some sort of conflict between different groups in the camp.
Do come back if you need a Yoda moment ;)If it's trouble about the camp than it has to be some Indian burial ground-esk sort of event right? Or 'the enemy' starts to take over. Or...they run out of S'mores. Something good.
Conflict between groups could work too. Although that would involve more characters I think. But it would be interesting for diversity of creatures.
Will do. xDIt could be something like that, yeah, or some kind of curse. A scarcity of s'mores would definitely be a major conflict, to be sure.
And that's true. I figure if we needed to occasionally play background characters and such, the overall idea would be interesting. And the diversity would definitely be a plus. If we needed to, we could try bringing in another person, if it's all too much for just two people?
^w^Ha! I would love for the camp counselor to go our and buy more Hershey bars and holy water at the same time. That would be neat. But yes, I definitely agree, a curse would be interesting.
Mm, of course. Playing background characters would be important, and if need be we could definitely add someone to the group.
Also, how many characters do you think we should have?
That would be amazing, actually. Imagine the questions by the grocery clerk, just staring down at two things that shouldn't go together and then helplessly at this completely unashamed camp counselor.Well, we could have one or two main characters each, if we wanted, and then come up with our own background characters if that's something you'd be interested in? We'd be able to play multiple types of powers and such throughout the roleplay, which sounds really cool.
The cashier is really slow and curious and the counselor is this close to transforming into their true form and just taking everything because the kids were left alone and if one of them dies it's gonna be blamed on them gosh darn it!Alright that sounds good~
So we have a solid setting and somewhat plot and characters. We need to elaborate on those.
And the cashier is just so confused because he didn't even know they had holy water, where did it even come from-- this is a gas station, for god's sake-- How?Sure thing. First, is there anyone you'd like to bring in on this, before we start elaborating more?
The counselor takes a deep breath. Looks the cashier dead in the eye. Makes a vague but very threatening threat on the cashier's life very calmly and the cashier wonders if they're kidding but something just isn't right about that remark. Was that a threat? Why is there steam? *beep beep* That'll be six dollars..
Mm, no, not currently. I honestly wouldn't really know who anyhow- the one person I could invite is super busy atm. Do you have anyone in mind?
The cashier's face goes white and he counts out the change faster than he ever has in his life, shoving a bag generally towards the person threatening him, not sure why he's so terrified about so vague a threat. The steam almost gives him an aneurysm.Honestly, me either. We could always bring in people later if need be. Alright, so we need to pin down a specific conflict, or at least one to start with. Indian burial grounds, curse, or camp infighting? Or something else if you have any ideas.
God they can't believe they had to rely on the steam trick. Might as well just have eaten the person or something. Well maybe not that, but they might as well have some fun. The steam goes away and when the counselor says thank you, his face changes just for a split second, just enough for the cashier to question everything about life and have a good story to tell at parties 'I saw Satan' Ha. Oh right the kids. Yeah, that sounds fine. We'll fill them in when it's necessary.
Hmm.. That's all I can come up with for now. Curse seems really fun with the possibility of a mystery for the campers to solve.
The cashier mysteriously decides to quit that day, much to the surprise of the manager. The cashier keeps babbling about smoke and demons.A curse seems cool. What kind of curse should it be? Would it affect their environment, or the campers themselves in some way? The environment would probably be better, less having to play out more and more background characters.
Aaaand scene! Oh that was glorious~ It has to become canon. Ah yes, very good point. A curse on the environment then. Now what could happen.. Maybe all the trees and vegetation starts to slowly die? Or..The trees and vegetation come alive and try to attack the camp. Or... Bugs become gigantic. Gross. Especially in the summer. Or maybe it's a mist situation, although that moves form mystery to plain survival.
Definitely. That was pretty awesome. Imagine the counselor using that trick on the campers, sending them all running away when they're irritated.Hm. It could be something like that. Maybe all of the traditionally edible vegetation around the camp starts becoming poisonous as a first sign? Mist could also come into it, maybe at night. Makes everything more creepy. People start to hear particularly loud, thrashing leaves and branches on a night that isn't very windy.
Oh most definitely. But there has to always be the one kid that sticks around and acts like it isn't scary. Oooh creepy!! Okay definitely that then. They almost lost a few kids who ate blueberries if it wasn't for the witch doctor. A couple more nearly died because of the mist and while half the kids are frightened to death and wanting to go home -but they can't because their parents paid for the WHOLE summer and there's a penalty fee for going early and the parents haven't been contacted about this yet anyways- and the other half of the kids want to find out what's going on and kick the mist in the butt.
So. What's causing it then?
Of course. But he's actually scared out of his mind, just good at passing it off-- or, well, not really, but he has enough guts or maybe he's just stupid enough not to get out of the way. Some kids would probably learn how to make more locks for their cabin doors, talk quietly in their respective bunks because no one has been sleeping well since the mist rolled in. The older kids try to be brave for the younger ones, make sure everyone knows what's safe and what isn't. As for the cause.. Hm. Possibly former staff that got fired and was bitter, or someone in the forest who started to get a bit peeved when the campers got closer and closer to their home every summer.
The counselor sees right through him and appreciates that, but at the same time they make it their absolute goal to make the poor little guy wet his pants and runaway crying one day. Most definitely, and they're all using their abilities to try and survive this. The witches make magical codes and protection spells and the nymphs make food from new trees that aren't cursed and stuff like that.
So it's a former staff that got fired or someone in the forest... Hm.. I'm not sure which would be best in the scenario. Do you have a favorite of the two?
The camper can almost feel the intent, and he's just waiting for the day that he completely humiliates himself. He tries to strike up casual conversation in spite of it, but his voice keeps cracking.Yup. Telepathics and Empaths keep track of people, make sure to warn if they get too close to the woods, or too close to the thick, choking mist.
I was mostly just throwing out ideas, honestly. We could figure something else out if you wanted. It could even secretly be one of the people at the camp.
It's hilarious and the counselor loves it. The kid is his favorite camper. After scaring him to death the counselor plans on teaching him how to be just as scary. Or at least how to summon fire or something. Perfect. Gosh we're such good camp coordinators.
Oh dang, that would be interesting. But I agree, we can always come up with a resolution afterwards. The act of going through the conflict should help create a good resolution anyhow.
So now we should move on to characters yeah? If that's alright with you, I would like one of my characters will be Mr. Satanic Counselor. Unless you had that planned of course.
The kid doesn't even know if he likes the counselor, or if he's so terrified of him constantly that he's desensitized, almost. He guesses he'll figure it out.Amazing camp coordinators. I concur. And yeah, resolution should hopefully come through naturally. We can always brainstorm more later if we need to.
Characters it is. And of course; you play the role so well. I'll play the gutsy and terrified camper, if that's alright with you as well. And then we can come up with another character each. We should probably provide names, appearance, powers.. Anything else you want to add?
Almost. Oh but that small percentage makes a big difference. That sounds good. For now I'll hope that it'll be organic.
Daw, thank ye thank ye.
Ah alright. I was almost wondering if we should make two off the bat or something, because I'm sure the counselor won't always be around. ..Right? And depending on that we'll see if the campers or the campers and counselors are the ones to really find out the mystery of the camp.
I can probably make a template real quick.

Something like that?
Indeed it does.Same, honestly.
And yeah, two sounds good. What kind of age group should they be in? The campers, that is.
That looks like a good template, yeah. Would you like me to make a counselor as well, or do we just need one main counselor?
Okay great. For the campers.. Well, at least for the older campers maybe teen years, like 14-16 or something of the sort. For the counselors either older teen years or young adults, 18-20? And yes, I would think that at least two counselors would be helpful? But only if you want to of course. It might be fun to have just one counselor and three kids or something of the sort. Or maybe someone else in the faculty, like the witch doctor nurse or guidance counselor or someone else.
That sounds good. I'd guess the maximum age would be seventeen, for a camper there. I agree.I'm fine with making a staff member. Maybe a counselor, since I feel like they'd have a more active role in a story like this than the other two, which would be more occasional. So one camper and one counselor each.
Oh yes, seventeen would be the maximum age for campers. Alright! That'll be splendid~
Do lets reconvene here tomorrow with our characters?
Name: Axel CayceAge: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Species: Half Fae, Half Werewolf (Not the stereotypical kind)
Appearance: image:

Axel is about 5'7", with black hair and grey eyes that change color with what he's feeling. Unfortunately for those around him, it would take them a lot to decode which color means which, considering how unreadable he is. He's usually pale at the beginning of summer, but by the end he takes on a good tan. He's lean and a little too skinny, but seems to have the body of a runner rather than being bulky. He has a small, light spattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose. His features are an awkward in-between like most his age, somewhere between soft and sharp. He's fairly bony. He usually wears dark colors, just because it's comfortable for him and makes him less self-conscious. Axel wears jackets up until it's just too hot to handle them, and usually wears loosely-fitting t-shirts, skinny jeans, and converse or boots, depending on the day's activities.
Personality: Axel looks, to those who don't know him, almost devoid of emotion entirely. He's sarcastic in almost everything he does, and seems to take pride in it; he's not the best in social situations, and social norms and cues seem to be out of his reach. He's well-rounded in his interests, and his fellow campers see him frequent almost every area of the camp, whether it be archery, canoeing, or the wood carving area. He's loyal to his few friends, and cares a lot, even if he doesn't know how to show it. He's protective of those younger or more timid than him. He acts tougher than he really is, sometimes, even when it isn't to his or anyone's benefit.
Biography: Axel has two (living) siblings, both of which are older than he is. They all drifted through the foster system until Will was able to take legal custody, but they were separated several times until that happened. He and his siblings have been going to the camp since Axel was around nine or ten, a way for them to see each other again; this is Axel's seventh year, and the first year at camp without one of his siblings being here, too. This is his favorite time of year.
Special Abilities: From his fae side, he's an Empath, and can manipulate shadows to a certain degree, although they can't be used for traditionally combative purposes or anything but small uses.
From his werewolf side, he can, to a limited extent, manipulate temperature within a certain range from himself, turn into a wolf, and has Enhanced Condition.
Likes: Reading, having something to fidget with, being productive, wandering, night time, rain, warmth, music, being active, and he practically lives on coffee.
Dislikes: Being bored, forced to stay in one place, the cold, bright lights, loud noises, and being around too many people at once for prolonged periods of time.
Fears: Small or closed spaces, being trapped, complete darkness, needles.
Other: Axel has a lot of scars as a result of not being as careful with himself as he should. He's more indifferent to danger than most, part of his mask and his outward attitude. He also plays several musical instruments, and intends to learn more as he gets older.
Name: Lynn LarkAge: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Witch
Appearance: Lynn has a small stature of four feet ten inches and doesn't weigh much, yet she is surprisingly well curved and proportioned with dark and even caramel skin. Her hair cascades to her neck and the front of her face, nearly covering her right eye, in a neat fashion of messy curls that appear to be pitch black, but can be seen as dark or light brown depending on the lighting. Most of her features are cute except for her large, almond, candy-apple green eyes which brightens when she uses her magic and illuminate in the darkness. She isn't quite certain if this is a result of a failed experimentation or genetics. A notable beauty mark rests below her right eye in the corner closest to her button nose, and she has some freckle marks on her cheeks. Lynn's full maroon lips often part to reveal a bright and friendly white smile. Her taste in clothing is quite simple: anything comfortable and admirable. Meaning anything from a summer dress, to jeans and a shirt, to skirts or shorts, to over-sized sweaters and tights, with a preference for the last option.
Personality: Around strangers, Lynn will seem very educated and kind with great listening skills and not much to say. This is her preferred personality because it can be very likeable, and almost professional. As time passes, however, you might get to see the more bubbly side of her. She is surprisingly imaginative and prefers the scenarios in her head to those in front of her most of the time. Lynn hates being a bother and in turn helps others if possible, but truly, interaction with others is one of her weak points. She prefers the quiet of being alone to a bustling crowd, and since she doesn’t make friends very easily, that has most often been arranged. But be warned, for she likes to think logically as opposed to emotionally and if she doesn’t find a friendship or alliance to be beneficial in her advantage, she’ll usually have no problem setting her emotions aside and stepping away.
Biography: She grew up on the island of Seychelles where she spoke French as a first language and learned well from her mother, the town's witch doctor. Her life was quite pleasant and cheerful with long, warm days on the beach and all of her neighbors as close friends. One day, however, her mother decided to have a permanent move. The setting was vastly different, suddenly being in the city with so many neighbors who barely talked, a cold beach, and no sense of ‘island hospitality’ whatsoever. The only good thing was that her home life was very much the same, filled with warm magic and growing powers. Many people come to her house to receive a miracle cure, but they were never as friendly or grateful as Lynn believes they should have been, so she has a constant pessimistic attitude towards new people. Her mother sent her to the camp so that she could learn to hone her magical abilities on her own and perhaps even make some friends.
Special Abilities: Being a witch gives Lynn the ability to cast strong spells, curses, and jinxes on any party she wishes. Those may require a few ingredients which she can retrieve from memory or recall from one of her books. For smaller enchantments and hexes, she can recite a few words under her breath or in her mind and make the magical act happen. With some concentration, Lynn can also use levitation of herself or other things, she can create barriers and throw balls of fire or energy, and even change the appearance of things. Her greatest accomplishment is her control of time, which she has recently only used to gain a few hours of sleep. Creating potions and mixtures is a skill she's mastered, and with the aid of a broom, vacuum cleaner, Swifter, or any other cleaning item, she can soar and fly high through the sky.
Likes/Dislikes: Quick and agile, Lynn is used to climbing and acrobatics. She loves warmth, tea, calendars, organization, clocks, and quiet spaces. She prefers the island life style and she loves electro-swing and waltz music along with many books and movies. Lynn isn't very partial towards work, and she isn't the best socializer but loves the few friends she has very deeply. She doesn't like to describe herself as a 'scaredy cat' but if she can stay away from trouble and epic adventures, she will gladly do so.
Other: Lynn has an Egyptian Mau named Myles who often runs loose but always returns home, and a Ball Python named The King who often lingers about the house but never makes a mess and is always in her sanctuary by nightfall. Myles and The King get along fabulously.
Name: Damien de la RueAge: 18
Gender: Male
Species: Demon
Appearance: Damien stands at six feet and one inch tall with a lean yet defined and powerful stature, often hidden behind a dark suit vest and violet vest shirt underneath. To the front of his face, his black hair curls and parts to the left, and if left unattended his hair reaches past his shoulders, but it is usually bound by a silk violet bow with the end of his hair draped over his shoulder. He has slim features with almond yellow eyes rimmed with red and surrounded by blackness. His skin is a warm orange with darker shades on his cheeks, lips, ears, and the tips of his appendages even when he wishes it wouldn’t. His horns curl slightly at the base to round the sides of his head and they then curve to a point past his temples, nearly like a crown. At the spot on his horn near his temples, another point curves up, making his horns have three piercing points. He also has a dark orange, long, and flexible tail with an arrow-like tip. All his teeth are rather sharp, and his ears are pointed and adorned with golden jewels. On the back of his neck are three deep red slashes, and on his left forearm, starting around his wrist to the middle of his forearm in a V crown pattern, is the tattoo of vines of flowers surrounded by masses of flies. In the empty middle of the V pattern is a flower with one bloody torn petal stabbed through a fork laying diagonally on the flower, and in the opposite direction is a knife. On top and to the right of that, is a bee fly. In his human form, Damien's tail and horns are non-existent, his eyes are a dark black with no distinction between iris and pupil on top a background of white, and only his canines retain their sharpness. He most often wears a black suit vest with a violet shirt and black pants which completes his look of simple class.
Personality: Damien can be described as quite the gentleman, if not for the fact that he can be cocky, sarcastic, sadistic, and manipulative. He enjoys seeing people at their lowest points, but it is somewhat fascinating to see the different things that can make them 'happy'. He won't go very far to help this feeling be felt, of course. Toying with others and testing their mental and physical limits is a preferred activity, and he specializes in gluttony-driven and greedy people, which matches his personality oh-so well. If Damien thinks of you as a 'friend' he will be devoted to your happiness most of the time, and will be very loyal for as long as it benefits him. Or at least, he tries to have that mentality. He secretly enjoys being the 'protector' of those whose presence he tolerates.
Biography: Damien is not entirely sure of his past, whether he was born on Earth or created in Hell, but he doesn't linger too long on the subject. Earth is the earliest memory he has, and although he's also able to move from Hell to Earth without any trouble, he doesn't bother to find out exactly where his story began. Now, he lives in a grand estate with an odd pair of human-loving demons who unnecessarily act as his guardians. Most people wonder where his wealth comes from, since the 'family' simply appeared out of nowhere one day, but a demon has his ways. His guardians insisted that Damien should give back to the community which so graciously accepted them, so they signed him up to be a counselor for the camp as a show of goodwill. Damien absolutely loathes this idea, but to appease his guardians, he agreed to play along.
Special Abilities: Changing to and from his demon and human form is a talent that lacks energy. Damien has the ability to summon and control flies to do his bidding, he can control and tame fires, and can travel through the levels of Hell as he wishes, often calling up a lesser demon servant or two as necessary. He doesn't exploit this often, but Damien has the ability to replicate things and make them 'better'. He uses this mostly for money, but will occasionally use it for indulgences.
Likes/Dislikes: Damien enjoys cooking and relaxing. He prefers a quite atmosphere to one of chaos and often listens to classical music. He greatly dislikes troublemakers when the situation concerns him, because if he is forced to do something about the problem he will do so with deadly accuracy.
Other: In the basement of his mansion, besides the summoning circle, is an indoor ecosystem where he breeds Bee Flies, his most favorite animals. The room was entirely renovated to have an artificial sun, a water source, rows upon rows of flowers, and houses for the little flies. This is Damien's greatest secret. Also, occasionally he'll cook and eat human flesh as a tasty delicacy.
Name: Elouise ArienAge: Eighteen
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Appearance: Elouise has rich, deeply tanned skin and icy blue eyes. She's tall, at 5'11", and is thin but toned and muscular, with fairly broad shoulders. Her facial features are angular, with high cheekbones and a sharp chin. She has dark brown hair that is streaked through with natural red highlights, which are especially noticeable in direct sunlight. Her hair is wavy, although on particularly humid days, it curls more than she wants it to, and no amount of brushing or water will make it stay down. She prefers functional and convenient clothing, and isn't usually seen in any traditionally 'feminine' clothing. She has long limbs and comes across as kind of lanky. She makes sharp movements, with sharp joints, and tans very easily, especially at camp, when she's out in the sun most of the time.
Personality: Her emotions are often very obvious, disappointment or anger plainly visible on her face. She's a very blunt person, even when tact and subtlety would probably fit the situation around her much more. She reads people very well as a result of her abilities, and people have described her as cold or merciless. However, even though she isn't the nicest person in the world to be sure, she does try to help people, in her own way. She pushes them to be their best even when she ends up coming off as more of a drill sergeant than a camp counselor. She's loyal to those she likes, but since she's so analytical and logical, not many people want to get close to her. Her emotions rarely come into her decisions, and she's very level-headed.
Biography: Elouise grew up in a fairly poor household with parents that weren't exactly the best role models. She has a younger sister, who she protects before all else, even herself; it's gotten her into trouble with the adults in her life countless times. She excels in school and sports, but she never had any musical talent. Eventually, her parents got fed up with both her abilities and her attitude, and so they began sending her out to this camp; when she aged out last year, she decided she still wanted to be a part of it, so she became a camp counselor. Her sister never went, being very obedient and timid when it came to their parents. She isn't sure she'll be good at the position, but it keeps her away from her parents until she goes to college in the fall.
Special Abilities: She has Psionic Manipulation, but actively uses Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, Telepathy, and Clairvoyance, those being the ones she's actually practiced how to use. Passively, she uses Extrasensory Perception. She either hasn't tried or noticed other powers, but she wields her powers very carefully.
Likes: She likes quiet, solitude, and music. She also likes trying new foods and practicing her abilities.
Dislikes: She hates being messed with, manipulated, or lied to. She also dislikes talking to people she finds irritating, which includes a lot of the younger campers here, and some of the older ones, too.
Other: She has some tattoos, mostly on her back and upper arms: on her left shoulder, a blue flame design, and on her back some runes that have special meaning to her, down her spine.
(Thank you~ These co-counselors are going to be very interesting together.)Alright! Our lovely characters are all ready then.
Does that mean we should begin? Are we good on everything?
(They really are. I wonder if they'll hate each other or cackle over terrifying yet another group of campers.)I think we're good to start. Do you want us to start on the first day of camp and gradually introduce the curse into the storyline, or..?
(I could imagine both scenes happening seamlessly one right after the other.)Alright! That sounds good~ Best to start at the beginning eh?
Would you care to start? Or shall I?
(Very true.)Yeah, the beginning is always a good place to start.
Could you do it? If you don't mind, that is.
(But of course~)As a camp counselor, Damien was required to arrive in the desolate forest landscape before any of the other campers could land and begin their misfortune. The camp was set to open in the ungodly hours of the afternoon, when the sun would welcome all unsuspecting guests with harsh rays of radiation. If he hadn’t been used to the licking flames of hell, Damien would have been rather uncomfortable in his attire. To keep with the formalities, he wore the midnight black ascot assigned to all counselors, but he paired this accessory with his preferred black slacks, black vest, and violet shirt. His black dress shoes were preferable in any condition. To accommodate the weather, however, his sleeves were rolled up past the elbows, and a fly occasionally escaped the confines of his tattooed forearms to explore its new environment. He hadn’t bothered to put on his human disguise. From what he had heard, all the kids coming here were freaks, and what better way to accommodate this than being greeted by a demon? ‘Welcome to Hell, children.’ Perhaps a few would even run away.
He now stood at the gateway of the camp’s arched entrance, the purple symbol of an all-seeing eye a great contrast against the green landscape. He had the urge to set it ablaze. The eye, the post, the whole camp even. It was all wood, so doing so would be hilariously easy. But, this was to be his one act of kindness and generosity for the year, and it would be a shame to waste it. A true, irreparable, all-consuming shame.
Apparently, he was to be accompanied by another counselor, and Damien couldn’t help but wonder what sort of creature it would be. A demon of Asmodeus would be a dream come true, and therefore, highly unlikely. The best he could hope for was a kind-hearted and hard-working centaur whom Damien could exploit. With half an hour still to go, he supposed he would see soon enough.
(I thought it would be best for the counselors to get to know one another first)
Elouise is, admittedly, not looking forward to this experience, not even slightly. It was one thing to come here every summer as one of the campers; now she's having to come back and be in charge of people she already knows. Of course, maybe that will make the summer easier. Anyone who has already met her would know that she isn't someone that people want to get on the bad side of, and hopefully that knowledge will keep most everyone in line. However, she heard that there's another new camp counselor, the previous ones having quit after last year; considering the nature of the camp, all bets are off on what kind of person it will be, if they're even a person at all. She sighs slowly as she parks her car in the parking lot off to the side, in one of the corners. The counselors have to be there to greet the campers, and so she's showed up about half an hour early. She's wearing the frankly annoying black ascot, as assigned to the counselors, with semi-professional black jeans and boots, as well as a dark red, short sleeved shirt. This is about as fancy as counselors usually get, to her knowledge; this kind of camp is for functionality and surviving, not looks. Her hair almost seems red in the blazing hot sun, and she locks her car as she heads towards the front entrance of the camp. Already-dying grass crunches quietly under her feet; there are no sidewalks here, and even the parking lot is just dirt. Elouise is just hoping that any newcomers don't end up being too much trouble, and that those she's known in the past will actually listen to what she has to say. She also hopes that the other counselor ends up being tolerable, but she has a bad feeling, even from a distance; as she approaches the front of the camp, she narrows her eyes. She thinks she can make out.. Well, horns. Her expression sets, eyes slightly squinted against the harsh, bright landscape under the sun. She finally gets close enough to see orange and black skin, and she sighs a little bit to her self. Of course, she would get a demon for a co-counselor. That's just her luck. Elouise shifts the bags, one on each shoulder, enough so that the straps stop digging into her shoulders as she nears the demon. She stops next to the counselor, keeping her face even. He's only about two inches taller than she is, which isn't bad, although he's dressed pretty impractically. She shrugs to herself and looks forward, waiting for the campers to come.
Perhaps he would eat one of the children after all. They may not do anything to deserve it, but a blood sacrifice was sure to appease whatever forces could disrupt the night. Perhaps the sacrificial lamb would bring blue skies with life-saving-clouds for the other campers to play under. It would truly be quite generous of a plump youngster to volunteer themselves. There was no fine cuisine camp course on cooking human meat, but the skill could come in very handy to beasts and creatures. Raw flesh was so appalling at times, especially without seasoning. Thoughts of food and fine dinning ran through Damien's mind as he waited, bored, for something to happen. He had create four new fun ways to scallop and grill his plump lamb before hearing the sound of a car engine dragging itself in, and then eventually shutting down in the parking range. Damien supposed that he should have explored the place a little bit more, but he had arrived in a blaze of fire perfectly placed to simply await the campers and co-counselor, and he had therefore found no reason to budge from the spot or explore the camp grounds any further. What was there truly to see? Trees, dirt, and low-income living quarters.
Damien deduced that the co-counselor had been the owner of the car, which greatly annoyed him because centaurs and most creatures with any sort of favorable abilities didn't need cars. As the figure made their way up the small hill and closer to the gate entrance, Damien's eyes narrowed in slight confusion. A human? This realization eventually dissipated into dismissive anger as his face became placid and disinterested. A human. A human female who seemed entirely unremarkable. Perhaps still exploitable, Damien hadn't given up on that aspect of his working mate.
His face became dull and even to match her own, betraying no emotion save for a mild curiosity. No, not quite. 'Mild' was too spicy of a word for this situation. Lukewarm curiosity. Tap water curiosity. Stagnant water that had been left out on a warm Autumn's day, curiosity. Not a child of Asmodeus, not a kind-hearted centaur, not anything entertaining in the least as far as he could tell. Stagnant water in Autumn seemed a perfect comparison.
As a greeting, Damien uttered his first words since arriving in a smoky tone. "Welcome to Hell."
This summer was bound to be one of pure joy and entertainment, he could tell this just from the look on her face.
Elouise reflects on the possibility that she could just drive away, here and now; really, what would be the consequences? Unfortunately, she doubt that would look good to college, and besides, that would be allowing him to win. She can almost physically hear the distaste, disinterest emanating from the demon; his intentions to exploit her are even more obvious than that. More disturbingly, she can also hear the very detailed thoughts he has about cooking, specifically one of the campers. Which.. Well, she'll have to stop that from happening, which will mostly just be a pain. She has a feeling that she'll basically spend half of her summer babysitting this demon, who seems impulsive at best. She resolves, right here, not to let him win. She can see that his expression has changed to match hers, but there's still that hint of curiosity there. Elouise holds back a sigh, although it's a great temptation; he seems to think she's completely, utterly normal, which is insulting. She looks back ahead and works on tuning out his thoughts, seeing as they aren't exactly pleasant to listen to. She's working with a literal demon, and she should probably feel scared; however, she just feels a great amount of annoyance.Elouise surveys the road in front of her, and goes back over the map of the camp and surrounding area she'd mentally mapped out through her first few years here, crossing her arms over her chest. It's not as if she had explored the entire forest or anything, but she did reference maps of it several times. It would probably be essential, now; kids always get lost in the woods, the first week or so. They all like to dare each other to go farther and farther, and some of them don't realize how far they've gone until they can't recognize anything around them, just a maze of trees. She shrugs off the thought. She'll deal with that when it happens.
Elouise has a feeling she's going to need to keep her emotions carefully in check around the other counselor; she gets a bad vibe (obviously) around him, and besides that, he would be exactly the kind of person who would exploit anything he can get his hands on, from what she heard earlier. She starts cracking her knuckles, each joint. It's not so much a nervous tick as it is a bored one, and while the kids should be here soon, it's not soon enough for her. She's a pretty impatient person as it is.
The greeting Elouise gets from the demon is.. Appropriate, given the circumstances, but also exasperating. She glances over at him and rolls her eyes some. "Always knew I'd end up here someday," she retorts sarcastically, folding her arms back over her chest. "If this is hell, then I suppose that makes you the devil?"
The human didn't look easy to pacify. His charms could always win her over, as they were a potent weapon effective on all beings, but he didn't want to resort to this just yet. Of course, he would have to toy with her a little bit first. Seek out her strengths, of which she might have more than he thought. Her weaknesses, which were numerous without a doubt. And from there he could create an accurate plan of action against the situation. After all, he hadn't cared for being here since the idea had been imposed upon him, and would therefore try to participate in as little work as possible. The girl looked capable, one of her strengths he supposed, and a camp of rowdy kids should not impact her too horridly. As a reward he could compensate for her lost time and effort in any way she wished once the summer ended. Yes, this did seem like a most reasonable proposition, and he took it upon himself to accept on her behalf. Perhaps the summer was not lost after all.For a moment he does entertain the thought of actually caring about the interactions in this camp. Perhaps he could try to be less of his usual self and properly introduce himself as a true gentleman should. Perhaps he could even compliment her on her stature before suggesting a cold drink as they waited for the kids to arrive. And once the bus and parents pulled up, the greeting and information he had memorized could be said in a fashion filled with wonderment, complete with fireworks of luminescent fire and a warm regard to the parents for having chosen such a well-renowned camp. Their special kids would most definitely be able to learn about and exercise their new powers in this free environment. And then, just maybe, he could become a counselor for the ages, to amaze and serve the youth of their horrific and secretive society.
But my goodness what would be the fun in that? Children may be the future but they were also rather appalling.
Out of boredom, a few flies again detached themselves from his forearm and tested the summer air. Three flew about the grounds and descended down the road and onto the streets, to gage and report on the coming traffic of parents and children. On fly strayed from the group and perched itself on the girl's shoulder before lazily flying circles around her head. Damien had most definitely not commended it to do so, but it was rather entertaining to see it happen.
Damien was ever so slightly surprised by her response, and the corner of his lips tilted upwards ever so slightly. Not enough to truly make him grin or even smirk, but perhaps enough that he would do so in her presence eventually. "Lucifer himself, in the very flesh. Do hold your applause and sacrificial lambs until tonight. This would make you my disciple, yes? I do hope you are prepared to follow my every command." It was hard to tell whether he was joking or not.
