I decided to try all new cozies for my challenge and came up with my first book, "Pall in the Family" by Dawn Eastman. This is a cozy set in a small guest house in Michigan with paranormal elements.

Welcome to the challenge! Have fun! The Dawn Eastman series is on my list to get to at some point. It looks great.
I'm enjoying this book, but I was wrong - it's shared family home not a guest house. It seems to have a lot of fun characters: blending pets and psychics and police action. Halfway through and I don't know who did it, which is a definite plus! I find some series get so very formulaic that they lose their appeal after a while.
i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for craft series based around paper crafting or crafts for kids. I love to incorporate crafting into my lessons at school and am always looking for ideas. I have read a couple of scrapbooking mysteries which were neat.
finished my first in the snoop challenge! I enjoyed the setting and cast of characters and would definitely like to read more of this series in the future. On to my next book!
finished my second book - a nice crafting cozy set in small town america. I think I'd like to travel to a new setting for my next so I'm going to research cozies set in different places and see what I find!
I think this mystery will fit the historical category as it was written in 1934 and is set in Great Britain. I was hoping for New Zealand to be the setting, but I suppose that would not have been as marketable back then.
I enjoyed Marsh, but was dismayed by the use of the N word in the story - I know it was acceptable in the time period, but it is jarring to encounter it today. If you like manor mysteries - and I do - this author has a good way with creating an interesting puzzle.
I know what you mean. It's hard because you know it was just part of the culture but it is not something you want to be supportive of.
Blah! The Passport to Peril series is definitely not my cup of tea! I gave Alpine For You
a 1 on the rating scale. I felt duty bound to get through this would-be cozy Travel mystery, but it was a slog! I get that the book is supposed to be a funny poke at a not so merry band of travelling, midwestern seniors and small town idiosyncrasies, but it was just DISMAL. I am not the least bit tempted to read any more about this cast of unlikeable characters :-(
Mrs Kaplan and the Matzoh Ball of Death is my holiday pick. The first in a series by Mark Reutlinger, I'm hoping for fun and interesting characters and a little insight into culture and cuisine along the way!
After seeing your review of alpine for you maybe I don't want to read it. It's been on my TBR for awhile but sounds like it's not worth it.

There is so much beauty and fun to be had in a new location, that's what I was hungry for! even the food was described as colourless and flavourless!
I enjoyed Dead Canaries Don't Sing. The veterinarian sleuth shares neat insights into caring for a variety of animals so I'm recommending it to anyone who wants to be a vet! Certainly the author left me wanting to know more about the characters and Long Island setting :-)
my cozy career mystery is an historical one set in Victorian London with a shopkeeper heroine - her business is an antiquarian bookshop. Woohoo! This was a really good one with all the elements of a good cozy mystery, interesting characters, romance, tidbits of culture and a quaint setting. I definitely want to read more! Kate Parker is the author and if you like the Victorian setting you should check out this series.
My next cozy is a culinary mystery set in a soup shop. I have read a lot of culinary ones and wanted to stay away from anything that might ruin my diet like chocolate, cakes, and cookies! I was very tempted by the Amish Candy series I found, but decided soups would be best!
the Spoonful of murder was a great read! All the things I love with a nice little town, interesting story, and characters I want to read about again. I actually did read the next one in the series,
A Broth of Betrayal, and it did not disappoint! Bonus recipes are included :-)
OK I confess! I loved the Victorian bookshop series so much I had to go back and read the next one too! It was wonderful! A complex story that kept me guessing and a heroine who I enjoy. The second is called Counterfeit Lady - I wanted to post the cover but it isn't available in the search feature :-(
I think I have covered all of the categories for the challenge now. Thanks so much for the chance to find some new series!
