Hannah | 66 comments Totally!!!

Becky Cody | 6 comments Well, overall it was not bad but, they missed and forgot so much, like where is Edward? And what about that factionless guy at the beginning and Tobias saying I love you to Tris?? But I will say the actors they chose for the characters fit perfectly!

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments haha. Yeah, I didnt catch those... good eye XP

Sophie (sophieiscraycray4books) | 34 comments I didn't really like the movie. I feel like the missed quite a bit. I could give you a list of cons about the movie. I think it wars a really decent book-to-movie adaptation. However, Divergent is such an important book series to me and it was hard to really enjoy the movie, you know?

message 7: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 66 comments Yep I get it, but i still loved the movie. It could have been better.

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments yeah, but could've should've would've.

I found the movie slightly better than the book. Just because it was a bit easier for me to follow

message 10: by Sabri (new)

Sabri (not_your_average_bibliophile) | 50 comments The movie was surprisingly good.
It had a few cons and stuff
But you have to admit...
IT WAS 10,000,000 TIMES BETTER THAN ALL THE PERCY JACKSON MOVIES COMBINED
The thing that bothered me the most was that...URIAH WASN'T THEREEEEEE...
They have him planned for Insurgent (Keiynan Lonsdale is going to play his character... I'm nervous about that choice), but still, they took away the Marlene's muffin scene...
It's those little things that bring the movie together.
I personally don't mind a 6 hour movie with every detail of the book...

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments lol. same Sabri :)

Captain Cheesecake (cheesecakeisawesome) | 26 comments Okay, I just looked up cast of Insurgent and im getti.g worried because Lynn is Brown haired. They had better put a wig on her!!!!!

Hate to be a stick in the mud all the time, but honestly does it really matter that much what an actor looks like? Unless its like a really specific detail that has any importance to the story It doesn't really matter. Having good actors/actresses is the most important thing. I mean I don't think the way that they look really effects the plot or story. I understand you're not the only one to think this . And again I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I think that it would be enjoyable for everyone if they didn't care about the right appearance of an actor. I mean in TFIOS movie, Sure Isaac wasn't blond but he did a great job playing Issac.

Captain Cheesecake (cheesecakeisawesome) | 26 comments Issac wasn't blonde!!! In the book I mean.

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments yeah he was.

Captain Cheesecake (cheesecakeisawesome) | 26 comments I do not remember that and I read the book three times

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments im pretty sure he was...

Yeah he was. But I don't think you seem to be getting my point. I'm saying that when it really comes down to it physical appearance doesn't really affect the plot. And I'd much rather have someone who can play the part well and not have the exact same features than someone who looks exactly like the character but can't play them well.

I completely agree, Sophie. Of course, when the actor/actress doesn't look like the book describes, I find it a little strange at first, but as long as they do a good job of embodying the character's personality, I'm happy.

message 22: by MiMi (new)

MiMi (planetearthturnsslowly) The only thing I noticed is that they didn't show the final rankings at the end of initiation. My friends didn't read the book so they were confused about why Tris was so special if she nearly failed initiation but I was like "NOOOO SHE IS SO GOOD SHE WAAS RANKED FIRST EVEN OVER THE DAUNTLESS BORNS AHHHHHHHHHH"

And plus. They can always change the actors/actresses appearance ( dying hair, etc.) but if the character can't act out the part well it's just annoying ;)

Ariana | 13 comments I liked the movie. Though they left out a few details. I think the book was better.

Jessica Keighley-sussams | 4 comments I really liked the film but I was a bit disappointed about how much detail they left out from the book

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ (BelleWinchester) | 380 comments agreed. But i wasnt really focusing that much on what they missed cuz i was like, "holy crap...im watching Divergent. The movie for freaking DIVERGENT!" i was kind of in shock throughout the movie XDDD

message 27: by Ckeyn (new)

Ckeyn (obiwanckeynobi) Movies always leave some details no matter how hard they try. Regardless of that, it was good.

message 28: by Nikita (new)

Nikita I thought the movie was really good. I haven't read the book yet so I can't comment on book to movie adaptation but as a movie, it was really good. I liked the cast, the story was interesting and yeah it made me want to read the book.

Cassie 'The Thinker Go Go Go Go' Mis. Roben Goodfellow'\Isabelle Lightwood (cassiecrow) I really thought before I saw it that I was going to hate it and that they where going to mess everything up. And all that. But I actually liked it a lot. And didn't have a single complaint when we left the movie theater.

message 30: by Saumya (new)

Saumya | 12 comments The movie was pretty good, but watching it after I had read the book was kind of a spoiler...so, I noticed a lot of things that weren't included in the movie (Peter didn't stab Edward, etc) and at times, I got quite disappointed :(

message 31: by Abby (new)

Abby | 29 comments I read Divergent right before I watched the movie. They didn't make a mess of it but they missed out some of my favourite moments and lines which made the book loveable for me and helped develop the story. Also they completely missed out Uriahs characters who is needed in the next two( or three if they split Allegiant which they will) movies.

message 32: by Kelsey, Dean-Winchester-Awesome (new)

Kelsey | 572 comments Yeah, I was really looking forward to some of those goofy scenes. I mean, they weren't important to the storyline but it would've been super nice to see. And yeah! If anything, they should have added in Uriah, that should have been a no-brainer ;)

message 33: by May (new)

May (theladymidnight) The movie was okay, I was expecting it to be much better. I just wish they didn't leave out some detail because it just made the movie feel short.

Also, I was looking forward to hearing Tobias say one my favourite quotes: "Oh, that whopping two year gap is insurmountable, isn't it?".

But overall, I think the movie still stayed true to the book.

message 34: by Kelsey, Dean-Winchester-Awesome (new)

Kelsey | 572 comments I have to agree with you there. I thought it would be better but it was still pretty good. And yes! I was looking forward to so many of those little quotes, I was slightly disappointed when that didn't happen. But, yeah you're right, it was pretty much faithful to the book even if it did leave out a lot of those small scenes. :)
