I'd like to nominate jorge volpi's in search of klingsor. It was published in the 90's but translated in the mid 00's. Does that make it eligible?

Unfortunately not. The original publication date needs to be at least in 2000. Did you have another book you'd like to nominate?

Thanks for telling me. Yes. I'd like to nominate Lorrie Moore's A Gate at the Stairs. (I can't hyperlink as im on my mobile and I'll have laptop access on Wednesday)
Adding the hyperlink on Robert's behalf:
A Gate at the Stairs
Two intriguing nominations to kick things off--thank you Robert and Carol!
Note: The GR app drives me nuts. Don't forget, you can usually access the site directly on a mobile device and bypass the app. And the app does not show you the polls, so you can't view them or vote with it.

Friends don't let friends use the app. Always use the website, friends :)
Ab-so-lutely, Carol!!!!I haven't used it recently, but it doesn't ever seem to be fit for purpose (as the Brits say). Number one, the "add book/author" feature wasn't there last time I looked.

Thanks for all the great nominations. Nominations are now closed and the poll is up. As usual, do not vote for a book unless you know you will read it and participate in the discussion. Poll with be up until the end of July, and discussion starts September 1st, or thereabouts.
Poll can found from the homepage, or by clicking here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

Based on recent events, I am going to repeat the admonition above in all caps:
DO NOT VOTE FOR A BOOK UNLESS YOU WILL READ IT AND PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSION.
DO NOT VOTE FOR A BOOK UNLESS YOU WILL READ IT AND PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSION.
This poll is still tied with less than a day to run - if you want to influence the decision or the book you voted or has no chance of winning, please vote (subject to Whitney's proviso that voting means that you will read the book you vote for and participate in the discussion if it wins).
Thanks Marc - I promise not to nominate any more until my next moderator pick is out of the way!
Also, September's moderator pick is Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. Discussion for the mod pick will begin September 15th!
