LUCIAN • ( ryan potter )
unseelie king ; new york city
born : faerie + 20 b.c.e. + jan. 21st
2037 / 19 + bi + male
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
likes ▬ half-truths & silence & power
humans & shadowhunters & investigations ▬ dislikes
strengths ▬ manipulation & powerful & misdirection
unfriendly & untrusting & self-assured ▬ weaknesses
fears ▬ death & love & commitment
▬ magic / glamour : lucian is a faerie, and as such his skills lie in faerie magic — dangerous, dark and cruel, and wickedly strong — and glamours (after all, he's not actually nineteen). binding spells are his favourite — painful, quick, and chaos-causing.▬▬▬▬▬ appearance •
dark-haired and black-eyed, lucian stands at one seventy-three centimetres tall, and he tends to wear dark clothes, usually hoodies and jeans if in the mortal world and faerie attire in faerie.▬ PERSONALITY • ▬▬▬
Lucian is, naturally, an excellent manipulator, like all faeries. And, like most introverted people, he's got different sides to him. The one that people know is the king — the cruel and merciless ruler of the New York Unseelie Court. His closed-off nature and lack of empathy/sympathy makes Lucian somewhat heartless-seeming, although around the right people he occasionally opens up. Simply? He has too many feelings and he doesn't want to admit they exist, so he ignores them all.
stubborn & short-tempered & cynical & manipulative & cruel▬ HISTORY • ▬▬▬▬▬
Lucian was raised by a random faerie. They weren't his mother, and his father had enough sons at that point that one more or less wasn't really his concern. When he was old enough (he was thirteen, so he's inclined to disagree with their parenting methods) he was told who his father was, and taken to meet him. The king was unimpressed by the gangly, awkward boy and preferred to pretend he didn't exist.
When Lucian was twenty, he killed one of his brothers in a duel. Being the unrecognised fifteenth son, his brothers didn't know him very well, and so when he accidentally bumped into one of them at the court, they threatened him to a duel. Lucian had been trained in swordplay already, and so although he had difficulty in beating someone more skilled than him, he had a chance.
After that, his father brought him to court, impressed that he had managed to hold his own with being brought up like a peasant. Lucian wasn't stupid — he knew that his brothers hated him for killing one of their own — and so he was careful not to be around any of them for long.
Then, all too soon, the king lay on his deathbed. Lucian was three hundred at the time, many centuries younger than any of his brothers. But as the eldest ruled the kingdom in his stead, all fourteen of them started a silent, dark battle for the throne.
Long story short, he avoided the attempts on his life, watched his brothers tear each other apart, and then set up a situation where the last two would both die. And he was named heir, and the whole messy business was hidden and forgotten about.
And so, Lucian rules the kingdom, and has ruled it for many years. There have been many, many attempts to overthrow him, but Lucian is not a cruel ruler, and so the majority rise up in his defence. Shadowhunters hate him because he can reason circles around them all and make them admit things they never intended to. He has more power than all of them, and they hate it.family ;

「 ᴘᴇʀsᴏɴᴀ 」Charlotte is a contradiction on her own. First she's all happy and cheerful, saying everything is a-okay. Than the next thing she goes off, complaining about the most random of things. She doesn't know why she does it, she just does. For being a Unseelie fey, it's quite strange. Even the other unseelie's wonder why she is what she is. She should've been a seelie, not a unseelie. Which represents darkness, and everything shrouded in mystery. But that's where there wrong, because she does have a dark side. Charlotte isn't all pretty in pink, bright dresses/skirts, and happiness. Just she doesn't ever show it often. Why bother when it's more fun to hide it from everyone?
[ likes ] ___ fashion, history, messing with mundanes sometimes, sweet treats, nature, flowers; especially roses
[ dislikes] ___ oranges, pop/soda, quiet people, tacky colors that don't go well with someone's body (whether it may be her's or someone else)
[ abilities ] ___ glamours (it's by far probably her favorite thing to use), fairy magic, clairvoyance (but it's limited)
[ strengths] ___ good listener, helps when needed (more of a giver than a taker), good at manipulating people,
[ weaknesses & fears] ___ commitment's to things she knows she can't keep, always worrying over the impossible, her stubbornness can get the best of her; possibly into situations she may not have a way of getting out of, Iron, Silver, Cannot lie by no means
「 ʜɪsᴛᴏʀʏ 」Charlotte doesn't remember, everything crystal clear about her parents or anything about them. Except for their name, and they were part of the London Unseelie Court till they decided to leave. And she was part of that court till she decided to leave, and move somewhere else in London. As she decided being a Court memberwas boring, nor was it her thing. And what was her thing you might add? Being on her own, not having to be confined to rules. Being free, and doing what you will.
However this did slowly change... Not moving place to place. But the fascination of living during Queen Elizabeth's time. And by that, I do mean her growing up during that time. Even though some believe it has nothing to do with her. Which they are slightly true. It's the mere fact of living during her reign that was: historical, influential in all aspects of history, fashion, politics, the list goes on and on. And to some they would think why would a fey, be so intrigued in history? It is nothing but boring-some and tiring. It is just who Charlotte Maddox is. If they hate it, well it's not her problem, it's theirs. Besides, aren't all faeries more interested in picking the winning side as that's all they've ever wanted to do?
As time went by, Char decided she needed something fun, to spruce up her life. Perhaps a romance? How she found this romance, was quite honestly by mistake. She was just on her way for one last dress fitting aside from having to pick it up that she bumped into a young man. Quite charming, and all so quite handsome. He was a mundane. Something she got more frequently used to, when not living in the eyes of the royal court anymore. He was more than interested to get to know her. So after their little encounter they talked more, went on dates time to time. And after awhile he decided to show her to his parents, but before than he had to know she was a faerie. If he didn't know it would be bad on her part. Due to faeries not be able to lie but having the ability to fabricate the truth. However when it did come time for his parents meeting her it never worked. She thought they would understand and vice versa. But alas it never did.
Eventually, World War I came into prospect so Daniel was recruited. He rather go find, Charlotte but it didn't work. He did knew where she lived though, so he would write letters to her, from time to time. And, Char would be more than glad to see those letters. Seeing he was okay, alive, and all in one piece. But that wouldn't last quite well. Not with hearing his last letter.
"Charlotte, please don't worry about me. Keep me in your heart, forever and ever. Know that I love you and in death I shall always love you. My time has come, I won't make it till the next day. If you get this letter, know - no matter what my parents say, you've always been the most beautiful fey in my heart.
She couldn't bear hearing his final words. It didn't go so well with her. All the sensation of a chocking feeling, the sadness of her not being able to see him forever and forever killed. She couldn't bear to live in London anymore, so she packed her bags and decided New York was going to be her new home. And the home that will be hers forever.

She embodies both beauty and grace. Noora might be one of the most beautiful women to walk the planet. Her eyes are only one of her striking features: olive green irises rimmed by gold. Her gaze is so peculiar, yet enticing, that she has no trouble catching the attention of others. Eyelashes are dark and thick, curling around her eyes to give her a sense of innocence. Noora loves the extra look of extravagant eye makeup, tracing around her eyes with vibrant colors to make them pop more. She has thin eyebrows that are perfectly curved round on her forehead. Noora has the typical Arab nose which helped her fit in more with her adoptive family. Her lips are evenly sized and a pale pink color that she likes to gloss with different shades. Sun kissed skin makes her shine like a star in any room. She's got the perfect hair - long, dark, thick, and curled. It's got a glossy shine to it just like most of her. Noora has long, slim legs and curved hips and an ample chest. At this age, Noora stands as tall as five feet and seven inches and maintains a moderate weight.
She might be the picture of a content Arab queen, but there is so much more depth to her than just her appearance.
In the late evening, hours after the summer solstice’s bright sun had set, a shrieking little girl was born in a small villa in Paris, somewhere around the early 1700s. Music might be playing in the streets in happy tunes, but only the piercing wails of a fae giving birth that night could be heard. Parents, Liana and Petro were less than overjoyed at the new addition to their family and had been hoping that this time they might birth a boy. Unfortunately for them, Noora was born. That wasn’t the name that her parents gave her – she’d gotten her identity from another family. From the beginning, she’d been a disastrous little child. Her parents hadn’t expected her to be so loud at nights and were slowly regretting ever getting pregnant again. After all, it was quite difficult for fae folk like them to get pregnant. It was a miracle that they had both Alienor, their first daughter, in a vicinity of years as they did Noora. Eventually, though, they learned to dealt with their problem child. That is, they dealt with her for a couple years before trading her in for another.
Noora had a few good years with them though. There was a time when she was a young child that she felt like she fit in with her family. It was her elder sister Alienor that made her feel more included than it was her own parents. The two were the best of mates and while Alienor was older, the two acted like they were twins. There were aimless shenanigans, loud giggling at night when they were supposed to be asleep, reading each other’s minds just by looking across the room at each other. They were an inseparable pair and for a moment in her life, Noora was truly accepted. So, it would come quite a shock to Noora when her parents suddenly decided they needed a switch.
Instead of raising their fae daughter, Liana and Petro intended to trade her out for a mere mundane. At this point, Noora hadn’t made any judgements about the human folk. She hadn’t quite interacted with too many to really make any in the first place, nor was she old enough to care. It was painful for Noora to depart from the family that didn’t want her. She would find that living with her new family would not be any better though. Either option would seem negative to her when she pondered about it in the future. So, instead of living with her birth parents, Noora was handed off to an Arab family by the city of Damascus. Handing her off to this family was more than strange – they decided Noora would be properly disciplined by a strict Arab man and taken care of afterwards by his three wives.
She wasn’t switched with an actual child of the Arab man, known as Abdul Rahman Daoudi. No, it would turn out that she’d been switched out with an orphan the man had taken in. The three wives were speculating that Daoudi intended to take young Noora as his fourth wife. They weren’t completely wrong – Daoudi certainly didn’t have pure intentions with taking in a random orphan when his family was already so large. With three wives, he’d fathered a total of eight children. He’d been advised against taking on a fourth wife by a friend for it was likely that he wouldn’t treat all his wives equally as he was supposed to. But, Daoudi was unconcerned and eagerly waited for the day when Noora first bled.
Living with Daoudi, his wives, and all their children was hell. The children treated her as an outsider and scorned her for the “favor” she seemed to have with their father. Some of the kids were older than Noora and the older boys often taunted her about having their way with her at night when she least expected it. They would say that Daoudi was much too old for a young sharmoota like her and she should become one of their wives. They were mostly empty threats, but they did scare her at night often by creeping by her bed or snatching her blanket. The wives were no better – they treated Noora like shit for the same reason. Daoudi seemed to like her too much, which meant that he liked her more than he did the three women. They’d force all their work on her (the cooking, the sewing, the clothes washing…) and when she didn’t do it to perfection, her knuckles would be smacked ruthlessly with a flat stick. Perhaps – it was shameful – it was Daoudi that treated her the best. The abuse was harsh – bruising slaps, split lips, and worst of all, the intrusive contact. He would touch her and there was nothing she could do about it; if she made a noise, her lip wound would reopen. But, regardless of all the abuse, Daoudi was the one that cared for her – he affectionately brushed her hair, kissed her cheek, showered her with presents and food from the market. He spoiled her especially before he hurt her.
Noora ended up doing terrible things to free herself from this hell. She never imagined using violence to achieve her methods, but since violence was the only thing she was ever treated with, it was what she had learned to do herself. The older boys – the ones that harassed her – were found dead in their beds the morning after Noora poisoned their chai. The first two wives were found beaten with that flat stick, convinced that a man from a nearby village had hurt them. The third wife was left alone for she had been the only kind one – treating her wounds after all Noora went through. Daoudi suffered the most. She’d taken away a part of him that he treasured most – his penis. Castrated, Daoudi now was every much less of a man than his character suggested. She was only a young fifteen years old then.
At this point of her life, Noora remembered that there was a part of her life without Daoudi and his three wives. She remembered Paris when she heard a French merchant in the market. There was a part of her that always told her she didn’t belong here. Noora journeyed, traveled around the world and much to her luck, she ran into just the people to learn about her true heritage. And she began to remember. She was a fae, the daughter of two Parisian faes, and the younger sister as well. It took Noora years to truly figure it all out, to learn that she had abilities – magic that she could wield in her own favor. She only wished she had known earlier in life. She never trusted anyone with what she learned and it wasn’t until she met a handsome young Russian aristocrat almost a hundred years later that she began to spill.
In all her years alive – at this time, she was around one hundred twenty-one years old – she’d never fallen in love. Yet, somehow, this aristocrat had taken over her heart. She naively loved him and she loved him enough that when she did end up running into her real sister in the streets of Moscow, she’d guilelessly introduced the two to one another. That had been the first mistake. Noora blindly trusted in this sister she had been estranged from for a century. But, it didn’t seem to matter that they were sisters – Alienor seemed to have her own schedule. Not only did she end up taking her lover, she’d also abandoned Noora to take a crown.
This betrayal left her bitter and more ruthless than ever. She would end up killing her old lover out of spite of her sister, taking away the man they both loved. If she couldn’t have him, then no one could. Their lives continued very separately and very differently. Noora became quite the vagabond and has been traveling between the Unseelie and Seelie courts around the world, tapping into each leader and building her influence. How else is she exactly supposed to take over when they all eventually topple?
STRENGTHS: She’s an impressive manipulator. Noora has all kinds of methods to subduing her subjects and she isn’t afraid to physically fight to get what she wants. She is also very emotionally strong and doesn’t waver easily.
WEAKNESSES: Noora would like to think that she has none. But, her past is a severe anchor in her life. Anyone who knows of it already has a noose waiting for her. She also does not trust easily, which means that not many are ready to support her when she needs it.
LIKES: Power. She’s greedy as hell and will do anything to have it. Her life has been a repeat of her being the underdog, the one that gets the beating. Now, she wants to have the upper hand and give the beatings instead.
DISLIKES: Degrading herself. There has only been a time or two in her long life that she has lowered herself to sex to get what she wants. Noora has much too much respect for herself to let anyone use her body.
FEARS: Being powerless. Noora is scared to be that little girl again being controlled into anything and not being able to stand up for herself. She can’t live her life fearing to be hit by a stick anymore.* love interest - name ✕ face claim ✕ rper

Galahad
King of the Unseelie Court of London
{gender}- male
{relationship status}-
{sexuality}- pansexual
{age}- 2000 years (he doesn't even know anymore)
{birthday}- whatever date he decides
{nationality}- British
{City of Residence}- London

Galahad is old and therefore his history is long and over the years many details have been forgotten and changed to suit the Faerie King's needs.
Galahad was born a couple thousand years ago, making him one of the oldest beings alive on the planet today. He doesn't really remember much about his early childhood, just a beautiful woman with long light brown hair and hazel coloured eyes who used to sing to him. He's not even sure who she is anymore but if he had to guess it would be his mother, the previous monarch of his Unseelie court. His later childhood and adolescence are something he has vivid memories of as the time wasn't exactly pleasant. In fact it was far from pleasant. An unseelie court isn't exactly the nicest of places and the court Galahad now rules is one of the worst. The fae are cruel and pray on any weakness shown and so Galahad was shown how not to be weak. He was beaten and tortured and wasn't allowed to scream. If he screamed the torture became worse. So he learned not to scream, to never show when he was in pain.
But not showing pain wasn't the only thing he learnt, he also learnt that to thrive in the Unseelie Court you needed to be cruel, it wasn't enough to just not be weak. He had to embrace his darker nature and he did. He became one of the most feared monarchs of the unseelies and also one of the most long lived. He has held the court now for nearly 2000 years and hardly anyone remembers a time when he didn't rule them.
And neither does he because that's all he remembers from his childhood and he doesn't remember much about his years of ruling, only that they pass by in a cycle of blood, vengeance, love and sex. It is always the same thing.
A few hundred years ago he fell in love with a seelie queen who he knew as Tatiana. She was a breathe of fresh air unto his monotonous existence but a brief one. He tired of her all too quickly as she proved to him she was just like all the over lovers he had over the years lovely but boring. She has hated him ever since and he regards her with veiled amusement. But don't get his feelings wrong over this matter he is very possessive over those he views as his and hates when they get ideas above their station including being with other people so when Galahad found out she had taken several other lovers he was furious, well that's what he led everyone to believe. Really he was delighted as it gave him the perfect excuse to start a war with the seelie court. Something he's wanted to do for centuries and has done in the past but this time, he wanted to remove the queen from her throne. He had a plan for her court and it didn't involve her ruling it, in fact it involved another woman. A woman he had met at a ball in London at the turn of the last century. She had been slightly tipsy and had slipped and he had caught her. He thought nothing of it then, she just another beautiful woman but they kept meeting and several years later they fell in love. He promised she would become the queen and she will, just not of his court and then through a marriage bond the two courts would finally be one.
Oh and one last thing if his name sounds familiar it is, Galahad was once a knight of a very famous king. What can he say? He was bored.

{fears}- why would he let anyone know?
{strengths}- tactician, a good leader, intelligent, bow and arrow, not showing pain
{weaknesses}- cold, cruel, manipulative
{likes}- blackberries, blueberries
{dislikes}- noise, mortals, the seelie court
{family}- none that's alive
{alliances}- hasn't got any
If you ask anyone for one word to describe the Unseelie King they would say evil and in their terms he is but no-ones the villain of their own tale, too himself the fact he murders for fun and enjoys causing people pain is fine. It's the environment he was raised in and he hasn't changed all these years. He like all fairies is manipulative and enjoys toying with mortals, shadowhunters and other downworlders alike. He is very old and as such is actually more intelligent than most would give him credit for as he's seen empires fall and rise, kings die, wars start and end but he's still here. And well if you ask him if caused any of those events, the answer would be yes. What do you expect of him? He's immortal. He has to get his entertainment from somewhere. Even if it is from destroying mundanes lives and causing chaos. If there is one thing Galahad likes it is causing complete and other chaos and watching as everyone around him falls apart while he takes enjoyment in their suffering. Galahad is a cruel man and often seems cold and stern but many of those close to him could tell you of his passion, for he has a fierce temper that any one with the slightest bit of sense would be afraid of. For the past few hundred years Galahad has been very bored with his life despite his careful planning to finally destroy the seelie court and take it for his own.
