Asherwalkedsauntered into the computer lab, because where else would good ol’ Gar be? The guy had practically set up shop here the day they arrived on campus, and hardly ever left. Unless you count his dorm room, this was the only place on campus that could get Garret high or some shit like that. All the wires and screens were like ecstasy to the kid’s brain. Asher had questioned, more than once, whether or not he was friends with an actual person, or a half-cyborg who had to reboot himself by staring at a screen for hours. But such were the mysteries of life.
“Dude, this blows.” He said, dropping himself into the chair beside Garret’s favorite spot in the back corner, ignoring the look Choco-boy shot him when he picked up the notebook that Garret had been glancing at. “Some people don’t know how to have fun. It’s been almost a whole month now, and there’s still nothing to do.” The first big party hadn't happened yet, teachers still expected him to try in his school work -like that was ever going to happen- and other than practices, Asher had yet to see anything worth meddling in. “Please tell me you’re doing something more interesting than recreating Pokemon or some shit like that.” He said, turning in his chair to look over at Garret.

If it had been anyone else interrupting him, Garret would have maintained concentration and completely tuned them out... but it wasn't anyone, it was Asher, who was almost impossible to ignore. Mostly because he took up half the room with his big ass head. Without looking up from his computer screen, Garret reached out for his notebook, snatching it out of Asher's grasp. "Stop being so grabby, you know I would give it to you if you just asked nicely." he remarked, finishing the line he was on before tossing the book back towards his friend. He didn't have a problem with Ash reading the notebook, as long as he was going to be polite and wait his turn.
After a thirty seconds of typing and closing out a multitude of tabs, Garret slowly turned in his chair to meet Asher's eyes, "Are you telling me... you expect me, a simple-minded boy, to create something fun to amuse you?" he asked, using a fair bit of sarcasm and ignoring the gamer jabs. He glanced around the room, before grinning widely, "Sounds good, I'm down. Any ideas?"

“And miss the opportunity to watch you get your panties in a twist? Hardly.” Asher scoffed, catching the notebook with his face as Garret threw it back at him. As Garret continued to type, Asher flipped through the book, looking for anything fun, anything mildly interesting, but it was just a bunch of code. Ash turned and flipped the notebook, trying to see if any of it made any remote sense. “This isn’t even English.” He remarked, not for the first time. Of the many things about his best friend he would never understand, it was coding. Sure, it had saved their buts numerous times, but it literally just looked like aliens garblygook. That’s why Garret was the computer hacker, and Ash was the schmoozer.
When Gar turned around, Asher knew he had his attention now. A grin tugged at the corner of Asher’s lips, “You betcha.” He said, and set the notebook back down on the desk, about two inches to the left of where he knew Garret would want it placed, just because he could. “Well, let’s see.” He said, leaning back in the chair and ticking things off on his fingers. “We can’t recirculate the rumor about Megara’s undying love for me, since she’ll find out in two seconds and have both our heads on silver platters, everyone knows about Vince and Reagan’s shit, after what went down last year in the cafeteria, Kaylie has yet to tell me anything interesting other than spilling water down some poor kid’s pants, the scholarship kids have yet to actually talk to anyone….” Asher gave Garret a sideways glance. “What do we have on the freshies?” The freshmen, innocent and young, unaware of the seventh circle of hell that they had walked into. They could be easily tricked by a few rumors, and Garret and Asher had learned from experience that they were often the best ones to help spread and gather information quickly.

"Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not validated by others." he quipped back, already reaching to adjust the book Asher had so carelessly set down. Because it never occurred to Garret for one second that Asher would do anything to his friend to irritate him on purpose. It's not like Garret depended on a rigorous schedule and strictly similar environment where all variables were controlled just to have his brain operate at functioning capacity... right? And Asher wouldn't interrupt that just for the sake of his own entertainment. Just like Garret wouldn't snag Asher's phone from the desk and update his twitter feed to announce his coming out party, tomorrow, at 6pm, in the Gallagher common room.
He slid Asher's phone back onto the table, knowing he'd be caught in under two seconds when all the favorites starting pouring in, or when he leaned back up in the chair and noticed his phone was now unlocked facing upwards on the table. "Aren't you about tired of Megara yet? She's so... one dimensional. All she cares about is being like a famous news anchor or something, they're not really that fun to mess with if they are so predictable, you know?" he asked, watching his friend burn through ideas. He wasn't sure how into messing with the freshmen he was, since they practically created their own drama by the second, they didn't need much intervention. "What about the scholarship kids themselves? Do you think there's anything interesting about them besides being poor?"

Ash just shrugged and crossed his arms, rocking back and forth in the chair. Sure, she was one dimensional and predictable, but she never ceased to be irritated by the same things, and it was so damn funny. Every time. But if that was too simple, so be it. Ash could go irritate her later when he was bored. “Nah, but we need something better. More complex.” He said, and worked his jaw for a moment as he thought. The scholarship kids, that had potential. “Like what?” Ash asked, sitting up slightly in the chair to look at Gar. “They’re poor. Unless they have a criminal record or got kicked out of school for committing arson or something like that…”
A notification on his phone caught Asher’s attention, and he reached for his phone, and saw…”A coming out party? Really?” Ash asked, raising his eyebrows and looking over at Garrett. “If you wanted me to throw your coming out party, you could have just asked instead of making me the face of it.” He said sarcastically. As if. Ash opened the screen and started scrolling through the favorites on the tweet. Well, there were too many now, this party was happening. Which meant he had to get booze. And pay off anyone who was doing rounds tomorrow night. But, there was potential.
“Hey,” He said, looking up sharply from his phone and back to Garret. “Can you hack into those scholarship kids’ accounts and, I don’t know, do whatever you do, and see if there’s anything remotely interesting?” Asher quickly sent out a second tweet correcting the “coming out” party to a “coming back to school” party. “We could use the party as a cover, get the scholarship kids drinking,” Because they were at a private school where people had booze all the time. A few drinks would surely loosen them up. Especially if they were the honored guests. “And see if there’s anything interesting going on with them.” Even if it didn’t work, it’d still be funny as hell to watch.

Garret was fairly sure that if there was anything interesting about them, they wouldn't be here. He couldn't imagine how hard it was to get into this school on a scholarship, since regular rich kids were denied by the bucketful. But hey, maybe if you were poor you got moved to the top of the pile? "The only thing interesting about them is that they're new. It's like... we already know everything about everyone else, you know? What is there they we haven't already done?" he sighed loudly, sinking into his chair. Maybe the freshman were the answer? Who knew.
Sitting up a bit in his chair, Garret perked up at the idea of a party. There hadn't been any good ones yet, but Asher was most certainly capable of throwing a good drama-filled bash. "Sure, if you can throw a party, I can get into the scholarship kid's rooms and see what I can't find on their desktops." he remarked, reaching for his notebook once again. The real dirt was probably going to be on their personal computer's though, not any school accounts, unless they were stupid. But hey, he had to start somewhere.
"Oh, and make sure Aleida is invited." he glanced up, a dark glint to his eyes. "We should check in with her, see how she's doing." It sounded innocent enough, but they both knew what was in store for the treacherous little monster.

But now to business. Asher rolled his chair back a few inches, out of reach of Gar, and started pulling up contacts and shooting out messages. "I'll keep the focus on the common room, keep it fun, maybe a few drinking games. I'm sure I could get the football and soccer teams to perform competing strip teases or something. Did you see that Williams kid is here this year? Walking around with his posh little Brit vibe. Maybe we could give him some "tea" of the Long Island kind, see what he's like." Ash said, just brainstorming out loud. He could easily keep people entertained for hours while Garrett slipped in and did some good old fashioned snooping.
At Alesia's name, Asher's fingers stopped midair in the middle of typing out a text and his eyes shot up to meet Garrett's. He didn't for a second miss the glint in his friend's eyes, and just gave him a solid nod. "Copy that." He said, "I'll make sure to give it the... personal touch." He said, glancing back down at his phone, swiping away the message he had started, and quickly typing out a new one. That devil-spawn would get what was coming to her, that much was certain.

As much as Asher would like to take credit for all the happenings at Rockwell, Garret had the feeling that the school itself perpetuated drama with or without either of them there. There were so many drama Queens in the academy, that the rumor mill was at a fairly constant speed... the most anyone could really do was speed it up for a while, but even when it simmered down again... it was probably still spinning faster than any kind of public school. Or at least that is what Garret imagined, because it's not like he had ever actually been to public school. I wonder what that's like....
He lurched forward slightly, swinging his arms out dramatically to keep himself from falling. Not everyone could have super cool looking agile instincts, okay? "Instant fun, is that what you call it?" he asked, grinning back at his friend. "You know, I think a nice drunk party is exactly what Rockwell needs right now. Nobody's nasty summer flings have hit the fan yet, and you know every summer someone sleeps with their bestfriend's boy -- it's all statistics. We just have to figure out who done it. Or we'll just... create something if no one is going to be forthcoming." he shrugged.
Sometimes it was like Garret and Asher spoke different languages... and then when they were talking about Aleida, it was like they had a special code of their own. Probably the one used to unlock the nukes, reserved only for mass destruction. "The perfect amount of personal -- don't want to scare her off before we get to have our fun."

And then there was this bitch. Aleida. Asher knew he would never understand half of what Garrett said or did. Heck, they were on the opposite ends of the wavelength spectrum, and it was a wonder they even spoke, let alone we're best friends. But there were some things that just clicked, and she was pretty high on that list. Right after planting the perfect rumor and Marvel movies.
So Asher just grinned, making no effort to conceal the joy as he said "Of course. Only the most careful touch for our favorite Rockwell A-lister." He paused, and tilted his head slightly, "would you prefer to be present, or observe from the cameras?" They could manage either, but as this was a personal matter, Asher would much rather do things by Garret's lead, and get this just right. Because no one screwed with Gar and got away with it.

"I doubt anyone was a model student over the summer. I hacked enough iCloud accounts to see the pictures that didn't make the instagram cut." he laughed, thinking back to his own summer activities. He got into his own version of trouble, but nothing really that related to ruining friendships, breaking hearts, or sleeping with girls. The only thing he really managed to do was break a few records in the gaming world and piss of his parents by rarely leaving the house. The only sun he really got was the parties and barbecues he was forced to make a presence for... which was sad, but that's just the way he had always preferred things.
"I'll let you know tomorrow," he postponed, unsure to whether or not he wanted to be there or not. If he wasn't there, people would know they were up to something (at least the smart ones would), and if he was there and then disappeared to get into people's rooms, they would definitely know they were up to something. "You know, I think we might need reinforcements for this one." he pondered, running through his mental list of people they might consider trusting. "I don't think we're going to be able to room search with just the two of us," he ran it in his head, trying to put it into numbers, "I just think the risk would be too high this early in the game."

"Fair enough." He shrugged. "It'd probably work best if you pop in and out, give the impression that you're just being your usual antisocial self." Versus disappearing for the entire party and showing up at the end. That would raise some eyebrows. This had to be carefully addressed. And reinforcements wouldn't be a bad idea. Asher worked his jaw for a moment, considering those that owed them favors they could call in.
"What if we just focused on Gallagher and De Rooke tomorrow, and get the other two later? Rinker is gross, and sophies are still scared of their shadows. The real question is why someone would transfer their third or fourth year of high school." Right before they were about to graduate. That just seemed sketchy.

"Of course I saved them, I just have to be smart about it. Things aren't as easy as they used to be, and I still have a whole year after you leave. My parents would kill me if I get kicked out, or have a smudge on my record coming out of this place. They're convinced I'm going to work for NASA or something." he rolled his eyes, turning in his chair to look back at his computer screen. Like he would ever want to calculate launch patterns and all that other garbage -- what was so good about being astronaut anyways? Things were so much more interesting here on the ground.
Garret entertained the idea of being in and around the party, trying to ignore the dig Asher had pegged him about being antisocial. At least people didn't find Garret to being overwhelmingly annoying and intrusive, like Asher. Sure, Garret thought it was fun to poke fun at people, but in less obvious ways than his friend, and on a less consistent basis. Garret was more about one big fun shit-show, and Asher could be amused by the same joke over and over again if it got him a response, aka Megara.
He clicked around the computer, pulling up the floor plans for the dorms they were discussing. "I don't know, I feel like Gallagher and De Rooke would be the hardest ones to do because if we are seen, people will know. In the other ones, we could just say we were community advisors doing roomchecks or something and they wouldn't even realize what had happened." he glanced back at Asher, contemplating, "We'd need a pretty big distraction at the party if you want to hit both without any outside help."

"This is why you're the brains." Asher said. Garret could pull off being a CA in the underclass men dorms pretty easily, since the freshies still didn't know all the CA's yet. "How about both?" Asher offered as a compromise, since this was turning into a much bigger job than he intended. "Some people owe us, and they'll keep quiet. And I'll create a distraction to pull attention away from her." Nothing to the level of destruction of school property, he'd learned that one the hard way, by just some interesting stuff to keep people at the party.
Which reminded him... if this was going to work, they wanted a meddler off their scent. Which meant Megara had to be nowhere near this entire thing. "Leave the party and distraction parts to me. Here's a list of people who owe us, plus their details..." Asher said, taking a screenshot of his list and texting it over to Garrett. "If they don't cooperate, I'll talk to them," more like twist their arm into cooperation. "And I'll throw the best distraction party ever." He said confidently, before looking back down at his phone to send off a text to the one and only Megara:
Hey beautiful, I'm throwing a party tomorrow night, Gallagher common room. Great booze, and the story of your life if you show up. Can't wait to see you there ;) -Asher
With that taken care of, Asher slipped his phone back into his pocket and leaned back in his chair. He crossed his arms over his chest and looked back to Garrett. "So, what else do we need?"

Garret knew he was too good for NASA, but he was glad Asher saw it too. That was one of his friend's more redeeming qualities -- you could say whatever you wanted about him, except that he was a bad friend. He always came to Garret's aid, and vice versa. They were unlikely of friends, but now that they were, damn they were pretty good to each other. "I'm the brains and your the looks, together we could make like... what's that creature from Rocky Horror?"
Picking up his phone, Garret immediately started narrowing down the list in his head. Just because some of these people owed them, didn't mean Garret necessarily wanted to work with them. That's another reason why he was the brains, because Asher had the discipline to reason with these people and work out the deals. "I don't want any of them. I have a pick in my head already," he was thinking of Audrey, knowing she'd be game, and he wouldn't even have to bribe her, she would do it for fun, "She's sneaky and no one would connect the dots."
He looked back at his friend, before cracking a wide smile, "You know we probably can't throw a rager on a thursday in the dorms... I vote secret last minute location change. And obviously, the alcohol is on the to-get list. Do you think we should have a theme?"

"I'll hit up my guy, see what I can get out of him for booze" Asher said, running a hand through his hair and scratching his head. The perks of having a ton of money was you could buy yourself an almost monopoly on the school's alcohol supply, and Asher had gotten the torch passed to him by an upperclassman, and he was able to extract a tidy little profit off people, all of which went to Garrett for their "business" expenses.
Last minute location change. "If it's gonna be a secret party, then the theme should be a Prohibition speakeasy. Black tie required, shirts optional." A quick glance down at his phone told Asher that he had at least 50-75 people who were going to be there, meaning he had to find a secret location for that many people to meet. "You're certainly not making this easy on me." Asher said, pushing himself up out of his chair. "Now I gotta go find us a venue and pull a kegger together. Thanks bud." He said, heavy on the sarcasm as he reached over and ruffled Garrett's hair. "Make sure you don't get caught." He called over his shoulder as he headed out of the lab, just like he always did when they were going to get into some fun stuff.
