Fideo | 3 comments Hi,

So, how did you all get into Dragonlance?

My interest began with AD&D 2nd edition back in about 1991/2, then i read a few books and have been a massive fan ever since. I dont play RPG's now due to not knowing anyone local who is into that but still read DL and other fantasy books.

Todd Neblett (kyoty) | 6 comments Thanks to two of my favorite artists, Larry Elmore and Jeff Easley, I had to have the original Chronicles trilogy, the Dragonlance Adventures AD&D campaign book, and the Art of Dragonlance book. It was around 1987 that I started actually reading Dragonlance and by 1989 I spent much of my time walking the paths of Krynn. Since then I've read most (if not all) of the Dragonlance novels and still cherish my occasional visits to that far off world.

Fideo | 3 comments hey Todd.
How did you find the Dragons of a New Age trilogy by Jean Rabe? No offence to her, but i really struggled with them.

Todd Neblett (kyoty) | 6 comments I wasn't impressed with the beginning of the Fifth Age, but I don't blame Jean Rabe's writing. IMHO the blame for the decline in story quality for Dragonlance in the late 90's lay entirely at the feet of WotC. Dragons of a New Age read like a corporate mandated storyline that the author was forced to adhere to rather than something Rabe felt passionate about. The sequel trilogy, The Dhamon Saga was much more interesting.

Fideo | 3 comments Oh the 2nd one was better? I might take a look one day then. :)

Miranda Wood | 11 comments I agree the Dhamin Saga was great.

Fonch | 3 comments Really i reminded when i bought my first volumes of Dragonlance, really i did not start with the books of Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weiss. I started with the heros trilogy Huma, Galen Pathwarden, the dwarves of Thorbardin, and i enjoyed really much i bought in a bookshop called Petrarca in Valladolid, and this stories enchanted to me. It was something simpler, than the Tolkien books, in ocassion easier and pleasent. I wish Tolkien had written something similarto the saga of Dragonlance. Tolkien had more impact in my heart, but in ocassionsi had prefferred something as Dragonlance with adventures, and not only myths. I love the Knights of Solamnia. Besides i was a Rol Playing Game and Dragonlance spread my world, and i enjoyed with the religious register of Dragonlance.

Kenneth Moore | 6 comments I played AD&D and was looking for a book that was close, in substance, to the game. Behold... I was at my Middle school book fair and there it was. I could only afford one book and bought that one. I have never enjoyed reading a series as much as this one.

Hello Kenneth really Dragonlance is one of the universes of Dungeons and Dragons, other for example is Forgotten Realms :-).

Adrian (adriany_private) I'm pretty sure I saw the cover for Dragons of an Autumn Twilight and checked it out from the library. The rest is just way too much book loaning from the library for the next 2 months :D

Erick (erickcorderoak) | 6 comments When I was in high school I went to a bookstore and asked what would be a good fantasy novel to read. I was an Asimov and sci-fi fan, but liked fantasy movies. I read Legends before Chronicles, but got me hooked!

Josef (sirhijinx) | 1 comments I came to know the Dragonlance series thru a fellow soldier when I was in the Army in 1987. When we were in the field and had down time he always pulled out a book to read. I mentioned that was a good idea. So he started loaning me his books, he had all of the Dragonlance series (at the time). So for the rest of my 8yr career in the military I kept a book in my right cargo pocket.

I just stared a re-read of them all and still love the characters.

Mike S | 1 comments My friend in middle school lent me a copy of Dragons of the Autumn Twilight and I was hooked from there.

Erick (erickcorderoak) | 6 comments I went a bookstore back in the mid 90’s and asked for recommendations for a good fantasy book. The lady recommended Dragonlance. I didn’t know where to start with so many choices, so my first book was actually one of the bad ones. I am glad I kept reading. It was Before the Mask or something like that.
