Hello, everyone! I am starting this thread a little early because I am really good at getting distracted and remembering a week after I was supposed to do something that...well....it's not done lol.

There is no theme for this month, the usual rules apply. Nominations must be at least 50 years old, written by a woman, and not previously have been read by the group. If you're not sure you can check the group bookshelf.

Please also state whether or not you are able to lead the discussion.

Carol (carolfromnc) | 810 comments I nominate Iza's Ballad by Magda Szabó. First published in 1963. 336 pages. I can lead.

message 3: by Sorento62 (new)

Sorento62 I nominate A Good Man Is Hard To Find by Flannery O'Connor. Written in 1953. The short story itself is less than 35 pages. But you can read more than a hundred pages of analysis and discussion of the story if you have an interest. I can lead.

Ginny (burmisgal) | 249 comments I am planning to read this anyway, and it would be fun to share it. I nominate Earth and High Heaven by Gwethalyn Graham. I am happy to lead the discussions.

it's funny you mention this Sorento62 because she wrote under the pen name A.M. Barnam, when writing pieces of the gothic horror persuasion... It was a secret, I am guessing. Glad it piqued your interest! :)

Flannery O'Connor, the Queen of the Southern Gothic genre, is a favorite of mine... I do hope the group will indulge you in reading your nomination. It's beyond good. Good luck!

I remember finding that description intriguing when it first came up as a nominee. I would read this as a buddy read if it doesn't win.
