Chapters 1-9
(view spoiler)[I read this series before, so coming across Sebastian is hard. I know who and what he does. I think the addition of him to the story was well done. When I read this the first time I didn’t suspect him being Clary’s actual (and extremely depraved) brother.

I really like reading Cassandra Clare’s books. I find that I fly through them, and I always enjoy the stories and the characters. I am still enjoying The Mortal Instruments series even years later after I first read them. (hide spoiler)]

I always like how Clare ends the books on a slight cliffhanger. She always resolves the main plot points, so you feel alright with how the story ends. However, there are always further unanswered questions that make you want to continue and read the next book in the series.

Chapters 10-15
(view spoiler)[Max never had that much of a role to play in these stories. I almost feel like he was initially added into so that he could be killed off later him the series. I usually get emotional when I read books and a character dies, but I wasn’t that affected by his death. I feel sadder for Isabelle, Alec, and Jace. (hide spoiler)]

I agree. I think I like Raphael because, although he is a vampire and has his own agenda, he is somewhat of a good character. He is usually reasonable or helpful when negotiating with the MCs. He also still visits his family, which shows that he retains his humanity despite no longer being human.

Chapters 16-Epilogue
(view spoiler)[I think that this book might be my favorite in the series. I like the plot, the settings, and the characters. I also was satisfied with the ending. Clary continues to grow as a fighter and helps the Shadowhunters win the battle against Valentine and his army with her Rune. Also, Clary and Jace can finally be together now that they know the truth!! (hide spoiler)]
