I really really like the "The Thief who..." series by Michael McClung. I used to call it female Harry Dresden in a unique fantasy universe. It has an awesome female lead that I just adore. I love her pigheadedness and dry, dark humor. Also fights against unbeatable odds, an interesting setting with all kinds of magic, demons, gods etc and a pretty good partnership. And the author manages to one-up himself every book.
I'm going to recommend a series that I've read a few books from and it is the Geek Girl series :) These books are humorous and they make you smile!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians- you learn about Greek Mythology, and get this, YOU HAVE FUN DOING IT. Sorcery, right?!?!Serafina series- this is such a good series. It's under the middle grade, but I honestly enjoyed it and I found some of the themes to be heavy & dark for the younger audience, but I loved it. Serafina and the Black Cloak

I love Obsidian :) I've meaning to read the rest of the series though.
