Around the World Team Challenge

Team Planes, Trains and Really Big Books
Your itinerary is
here
When you have a team name, just let me know and I'll update this thread name :)
First stop - Maraba, Brazil
So just to get you started...Your first stop is Maraba, Brazil
You can choose as a team to:
TASK
- Read books set in Brazil, or by Brazilian authors or
- Do a spell-it-out of Maraba or Brazil
OR
You can elect to do the detour, which for this stop, means that four team members need to Read a book with the phrase "weak at the knees" in a book
Hi all. Looking forward to traveling around the world again in this challenge.Any ideas for team names? Some thoughts:
Booking it ATW
Planes, Trains and Big Books
For this stop, I would prefer to do a spell-it-out of either Maraba or Brazil; but I could do the first one (books set in Brazil or by Brazilian authors). What about you all?
I like your Planes, Trains, and Big Books idea. What if we made it "really big books" to have the same number of syllables? I am fine with a spell it out. My to read list is a bit out of control so I am sure I can find something.
Hi all, so glad I found this chalkenge again. Love the name ideas! Im up with that.
I am happy to go with what the majority wants re spell out or Brazilian author/setting
Im not sure where everyone is but I am kn Australia so I might be delayed time wise in my responses
Hi everyone. Sorry to be the last one to check in. I'm from a whole other time zone. I'm from Algeria, in North Africa.I like the title Planes, trains and big books.
And since I'm currently reading books by Paulo Coelho, a brazilian author, I'm good whith what you like.
Let's go for spell it out though.... It would be easier that way, since I'm not that familiar with much of brazil's authors
Okay we'll go with Planes, Trains and Really Big Books...We have time zones all over - that's cool! I am in the Eastern United States.
We'll go with spell-it-out for this one...

Yes, so we have a week but we can choose to stay longer if we want to. Also, there is a spreadsheet we can use (in message 2) to track our progress and points. I'll add our spell it out to that sheet.
Hi Jenny, you seem to have experience with this. Can we do more than one letter? and can we do the letter more than once?
Yes we can do more than one letter, but we can only do the letters needed for the spell-it-out. So, for Brazil, we only need one B so we wouldn't read for another B. If we had done Maraba, we would have needed three As.Is everyone okay in doing Brazil vs Maraba? If we'd rather do Maraba, that's fine with me.
I created a tracking spreadsheet in the workbook in message 2. If we decide to do Maraba instead I'll update it to change the word we're spelling out.For spell it outs, we can use the first letter of the title, author initials, character initials, or setting.
Hi guys, If you need another team member, I'd like to join you. I usually read 3-4 books a week. I can also do a R.
I will be away on holidays from 30/8 to 18/9/17 though and although I will have the internet won't be on GR as much during that time. Hope that is okay.
Hi Lisa. We'd love to have you. We're just starting our voyage! I guess you should let the NBRC Travel Agent know you are with us. I'll put you down for an R on the spreadsheet.
Oh great Jenny. Thank you. I posted in the sign up thread.
Do we post our read books here? Can anyone edit the spreadsheet or would you prefer to do that?
Thanks again. Looking forward to playing.
My "R" book
by Kate ForsythCharacter -"R" Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
Finished on 4th August, 2017.
4.5 stars.
Anyone can edit the spreadsheet. I added a tracking sheet where we can track our progress at each location. Feel free to make it better!
Ohhh, sorry not so good on the Spreadsheets, LOL. Happy just to defer to your expertise there! But love contributing with the books read.
Cool - If Chava can't find something that would be great. We get more points if everyone in the group participates (25 extra points) in each task, but we'll still get points for completing the task (10 points) if she can't.@Chava, let us know if you can do an I book by next Monday. Thanks!
Hi team, I just checked the spell it out rules -Spell-it-out rules
Using the first letter in the book’s title, the first letter of the series name, the first letter in the author’s first or last name, or the first letter of a character’s first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter in the audiobook narrators first or last name.
If you are reading a translated version, you can also use the first letter of the translator's first or last name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
Setting isn't listed, so my I book won't count.

I loved the US!! I was near Seattle, WA. It was for work (lucky me, they paid for it) and I'll be going again at the end of the year to Florida and next year to Ohio. It was my first time ever to the US

Pigletto! So nice to be on a team with you again as well!!Hi to all the team members, so nice to see the team is full. Off we go to Brazil!
Has anyone been to Brazil btw? Just curious :)
Hello, I was just added to your team last night! I'm from Canada and my favourite genres are fantasy and YA though I will occasionally read outside my comfort zone.
Hi all! I'm Lori and I live in London.
Chava - Nice to see you again. I've never been to Brazil.
I'll do either a B or L since Jenny read for both those letters. That means we will have 6 members who have read for a task.
I'm a bit confused about "If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points". Does that mean that everyone has to read a book for the spell out? Are we able to do this as we only have 6 letters? or Does it mean that as long as the 2 other members have read a book and posted it here it counts?

Yeah I was wondering about that too.
I have never been to Brazil. It looks very pretty though. I wouldn't mind visiting some day.My book is moving along quickly, but I won't have a lot of time to read today. Work is unusually busy this week and I have a book club discussion this evening right after. I am hoping I can wrap up the book tomorrow night.
Wow! Hi to all our new members. I'm Abir, Algerian, and it's really nice meeting you all and welcome to our Planes, trains and big books team. That's what we agreed to call our team if any one has another suggestion, please feel free to share.
Book: Monsieur Pamplemousse

Hi Abir, thanks for the welcome.
I love the team name. Great film.

Wow a full team! This is great. Thanks for looking up the rules to spell-it-out Lisa. My memory failed me I see :P
I'll remove my name from the spreadsheet for L. Not sure since we only have six letters and 7 team-mates about all teams reading. Maybe we should ask in Q&A? I would think as long as we all post a book that fits in our thread we could get the extra 10 points but I'm not sure.
Feel free everyone to update/edit the spreadsheet as needed to make it more user friendly! It's our tool for tracking and we can change it as needed.
