The Black Library discussion

Hello everyone! im looking forward to your assistance here.. Ive been reading Nemesis by James Swallow.. one of the Horus Heresy books.. The book is solid, but ive found something I would like to discuss about in order to learn more about 40k... Lets start with the quote which made me open this topic at first place:

"...men of the Mechanicum and traitors from the Word Bearers Legion, had assembled in secret a dreadnought called the Furious Abyss, constructing it in a clandestine berth on the asteroid-moon Thule."

So. I suppose we all know what Furious Abyss was.. A massive abyss-class starship. FIRST AND ONLY OF ITS KIND. But as you see James Swallow gave it a dreadnought title.. At first i thought it might be a ship-class or something similar. I went through all of the Lexicanum and Wiki sources regarding Furious Abyss and found no link relating ANY SHIP ,not just Furious Abyss itself, with the "dreadnought" .. which leads to a single conclusion - the writer has made a mistake or im constantly missing something here?? Maybe the writer decided to use the word to express on a different way?? i cant say for sure..its not that grave a mistake but still i thought that Black Library would not let such an error to happen. It would be useful to consult with some 40k fans who have wider, much more experinced 40k knowledge"than me. I will appreciate your opinion. Thank you all.

A dreadnought is a ship class all right. They were created at the start of the 20th century, essentially obsoleting existing fleets.

Yeah it's confusing, in 40K you tend to associate dreadnoughts with space marines :) He probably used it just to give a shorthand that this is a kickass massive space ship, rather than saying it's an Emperor class battleship or whatever.
