Hello all! We are heading into our final weeks of the Summer Reading program!

Let's finish off with a week of treating ourselves to our favorite reads!

Re-read a favorite book or read a book written by your favorite author that you haven't read yet. There are no rules really for this section except to select a book that you will LOVE reading! Share your favorite reads here!

I chose Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.

Finished this morning. Now I miss it and wish I could check in on the characters and see how they're doing. My review.

I'm glad to hear you liked it! I have had it sitting in my to-read pile for awhile now-- maybe I'll give it a whirl finally :)

You definitely should! The topic is an uncomfortable one--so much so that I think it would qualify as someone's week-six read if anyone still needs one. But I think it's handled very well. I especially recommend the audiobook, because it's got a different narrator assigned to each of the three point-of-view characters, and I think that adds something to the narrative. But be warned, it is often difficult to be inside the head of Turk Bauer, the white supremacist. Fortunately, it seemed to me the narrative tended to cut away just when I couldn't stand another word out of him....

I re-read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire earlier this summer. It's one of my favorite books and a source of comfort.

I indulged in an interesting photo journal of Newport, Rhode Island where I was visiting for a long weekend. It was nice to thumb through leisurely a book about the historic nature of the town! I rarely go on a vacation (and this was certainly only two days, but... Here was my review

Reading "Burial Rites" by Hannah Kent about the last woman executed in Iceland in the 1800's. It is very good.

I just read Gunnerkrigg Court Volume 4 - it's a series I used to be really into, then dropped out of, and I keep wondering, "Man, why didn't I keep up with that?" Because whenever I go back to it, I love it!
