It was until the ending. I quit watching around season 2 or 3 b/c one of my friends (NOT my RL friends) said that the ending was really bad (view spoiler)

How do you put up a spoiler?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

< spoiler > and < / spoiler >

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

without the spaces

As in the BBC The Adventures of Merlin, right?

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Mordred and Gwaine are awesome!

Just to be clear (view spoiler)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked Mordred better than Arthur, show and legends.

Ehhh (view spoiler) lol

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't like Arthur from the legends

message 22: by Iron, Darth Geek (new)

Iron Burrito | 150 comments Mod
Yeah he gets all boring... Gwaine is always awesome though...!

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

That's not my problem with him. Gwaine rocks. I like Lancelot and Arthur in the show, but can't stand them in the legends. Did you know there's no chance of a real Lancelot whatsoever?

message 24: by Iron, Darth Geek (new)

Iron Burrito | 150 comments Mod
Yes I know about Lancelot...I agree about Everything else...

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Mordred rules!

message 26: by gabbu (new)

gabbu I'm not far in the series and viewed all the spoilers. I really need to stop doing that...
I got really excited when I found out that Anthony Head was the king (idk how to spell the king's name, so I'm not even gonna TRY) because he also played in one of my other favorite serieseses, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Uther Pendragon

I liked him better as Giles, but he really did a good job with Uther.

message 28: by gabbu (new)

gabbu Thank you for the spelling.
Did you know he also played Chiron in Sea of Monsters?

message 29: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 02, 2014 05:35PM) (new)

You're welcome. I've done a good bit of research on the Arthurian legend and its history. Merlin did the incredible and made me actually like King Arthur.

I haven't seen that, so no. The first movie really got on my nerves, so I decided not to watch the second.

message 30: by gabbu (last edited Aug 02, 2014 05:39PM) (new)

gabbu I thought it was weird they switched up Chiron actors (bravo for confusing everyone!). The movie sucked as a book-to-movie adaptation and as a movie in general. Some of the classic lines include:

"Gimme that fleece!" ~Luke
"Hey! Get off my roof!" ~Luke

and my all-time favorite:

Luke- Kronos! It's me, Luke. Your great-grandson!
Kronos- My favorite *picks up and eats*

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Errrrr. . . .That does not sound at all like how I remember the books being. How could they possibly do the rest of the series with that last bit?

Anyway, where are you in Merlin?

message 32: by gabbu (new)

gabbu The third episode. Arthur almost got eaten by Valiant's snake shield.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay. Cool! I thought that was the second episode. . . .What do you think of the characters so far?

message 34: by gabbu (last edited Aug 02, 2014 06:00PM) (new)

gabbu It is the 2nd episode, I was saying that I started the 3rd. So far, I like pretty much everyone, though they all have their flaws. Arthur can get a bit cocky. Merlin tends to abuse his magical abilities. I don't really know Lady Morgana or Gwaine well enough to asses flaws. I have mixed feelings about Uther. On one hand, he's Anthony Head, and I really like Anthony Head. On the other, his character is dwelling too much on the past.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, cool! I love most of the characters. It is great that they do have flaws like they do. Both Colin Morgan and Katie McGrath are Irish, but one of them had to learn an English accent so two leads wouldn't have an Irish accent.

message 36: by gabbu (new)

gabbu Cool! I agree, flaws are awesome. If everyone was flawless, that would make for a fairly boring TV show.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd just despise every one of the characters. . . .I hate the characters that don't have flaws.

message 38: by gabbu (new)

gabbu Although, some flaws can get a bit cliche. For example, the classic "protagonist-loves-their-friends-and-family-too-much". Admittedly, several great characters have this flaw, but it doesn't make it any less annoying or cliche.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. . . .Very common flaw. What great characters would you say have this flaw?

message 40: by gabbu (new)

gabbu Harry Potter
Percy Jackson
William Herondale
Clary Fray
And several more that I'm too tired to think of

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay. I'm surprised I've at least heard of all of them.

message 42: by gabbu (new)

gabbu I was trying to pick fairly popular ones to prove a point. There's also Tris Prior.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay. I am usually more familiar with some of the more obscure ones.

There was a series where the villain had a little bit of that flaw.

message 44: by gabbu (new)

gabbu That sounds interesting. What was it called?

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Grisha Trilogy. Third book ruined it though.

message 46: by gabbu (new)

gabbu I hate books like that :/

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too

I need to start watching this again, I kinda let it go...
