Frabjous Thoughts

Who do you think Alyssa will end up with?
I think that she will end up with Morpheus because the rabbit hole is closed, and I don't think she'd be willing to completely leave Wonderland behind until her human death.
Or this will end up like any other YA book, and she will lose the crown, and possibly her mother will get the crown. In this scenario, Alyssa would end up with Jeb.
My vote is for the former though.

Hopefully that works this time, unlike with Mr.A.
I don't know, actually. She seems like she wants to choose one, but she clearly likes before, and they both appeal to parts of her.
Diane wrote: "I agree! However the story ends, I hope that Alyssa is happy. In my opinion, she has a lot of difficult choices ahead of her to make; some of them might not be so pretty at all. There is so much..."I agree, and I'm glad you put so much thought into this.
I would love her to choose Morpheus. While Jeb tries to hide her, Morpheus makes her see her true self and lets her decide for herself. Although I do remember reading that Jeb's character is based on the author's husband's personality. Perhaps that was a hint that the author prefers caring/protective guys.
I just hope Alyssa will be content with her choice because she has to give up one world for the other.

Me too
She MUST make a choice! I'll say it (IMO): SHE is the selfish female character I've read in a while. You cannot just say 'Oh, I love you both, guys. I'm living my human life with Jeb until he dies, and then party's on with Morpheus' *Nope*
She could love them both, but she can't actually 'be in love with them' at same time. D=
If she does choose Morpheus, it's ok. I'm deeply in love with Morpheus, but I'm not particularly shipping them.
If she does choose Jeb, it's ok. I sorta like him. But she must stay with him, not: I'm living w/ you until your death, and your body it's not even cold when I'm frick frack with Morpheus.
What I don't want to happen is this: she having both guys or she choosing one 'cause the another died or something. I mean, not by default.
I have a feeling that she will choose Morpheus, or at least I really hope she does, because it would be so hard to live her entire life with Jeb, in love with him, knowing any daughter of hers would follow the same path she did, and then when she died being with Morpheus and the Netherlandians in Wonderland. She will always ultimately know that when he dies, she simply moves on. (view spoiler)
On top of that, choosing both just seems like the easy way out. It's too convenient. It's designed to make everyone happy and AG Howard doesn't seem like that kind of author. It's enough to give hope to both Teams until the third book arrives.
I have similar ideas. Alyssa will probably be with Jeb during her human life, and when he dies, she will return to Wonderland and marry Morpheus. All the while, Morpheus was in another cocoon hibernation while Alyssa was away. Or. (I prefer everyone doesn't get what they want outcome.)
Jeb turns out to be a Wonderland character... from the bad side. Alyssa ends up with Morpheus and they rule Wonderland as King and Queen.
I bet the author has devised a twist that no one will guess:)
Bree wrote: "I have similar ideas. Alyssa will probably be with Jeb during her human life, and when he dies, she will return to Wonderland and marry Morpheus. All the while, Morpheus was in another cocoon hiber..."That unfortunately sounds more realistic than everyone being happy...
Kaylee wrote: "Alyssa should decide what she likes about Jeb and Morpheus. she needs to figure out which one of them let's her be herself."I'm feeling a little too much America Singer here when she couldn't make a single decision in The Elite. I guess it's supposed to make the third book all the more suspenseful. Love Triangles. Ugh.
Bree wrote: "I have similar ideas. Alyssa will probably be with Jeb during her human life, and when he dies, she will return to Wonderland and marry Morpheus. All the while, Morpheus was in another cocoon hiber..."While I would be mad at Jeb if that happened, I can't say it's unlikely. It reminds of in the mini-series Alice how Jack turned out to be *spoilers* the son of the Red Queen *spoilers*. Of course he also turned out to be *spoilers* an agent for Caterpillar *spoilers* but it's still similar enough to make me remember it.
Katie wrote: "Bree wrote: "I have similar ideas. Alyssa will probably be with Jeb during her human life, and when he dies, she will return to Wonderland and marry Morpheus. All the while, Morpheus was in another..."The third book cover gave me that feeling... like Jeb might not be who he says he is, or thinks he is. Although, I love the picture, he looks very cute... he also looks a tad upset about something.
Good idea Katie... I didn't even realize that the Red Queen might have an heir to the throne. I can't wait to find out:)
Bree wrote: "Katie wrote: "Bree wrote: "I have similar ideas. Alyssa will probably be with Jeb during her human life, and when he dies, she will return to Wonderland and marry Morpheus. All the while, Morpheus ..."Oh, I didn't mean to imply that directly, just that if he turned out to be on the wrong side, it would be similar, but that would be interesting.
I really hope that she just picks one of them. I'd rather lose than tie if you get what I'm saying. Morpheus is preferable, obviously. Is there anyone 100% Team Jeb?
Rebekah wrote: "Is there anyone 100% Team Jeb?"I don't know a single person who likes Jeb. But I know plenty of people who have trouble reading the otherwise awesome series because of Jeb. Seriously, the best parts are where Jeb is either absent or unconscious. I'm also reading a lot of reviews, and it looks like the majority prefer Morpheus.
That being said, I think Alyssa is going to end up with Jeb. Because the morals of almost every YA story are that the girl must choose the "safe" one, not the "interesting" one. Alyssa is going to lose her powers and they will live in a cottage with two children, and I'm going to cry over the lost possibilities of a magic life full of adventure that didn't happen.
*sorry for being so pessimistic* Jeb on the cover doesn't add any enthusiasm too.
Does Anyone Want To Hear My Theory???

@ Ginny: whatever it takes to make the prophesy come true. Morpheus practically made two books, he needs to get his reward.

Too True;)
Too True;)
Jeb gave his life for Alyssa, and he is trying to create a career for himself as an artist, so he and Alyssa can get married, potentially. Granted, he has no magical powers... and is therefore less alluring, but he has tried his hardest to love Alyssa. So far, he is just a normal guy and I see no fault in him. Most likely, he has something to do with Wonderland, in the next book. But, I still hope she ends up with Morpheus because I like his charm and magic. Having said all that, I just wanted to show some love for Jeb:)
Bree wrote: "Jeb gave his life for Alyssa..."He just took Alyssa's choice from her one more time. Like he always did. I know this is not the shipping wars thread, so I'll stop at that and move to that other thread soon.
But I agree, he will most likely become a netherling in book three, so all the magic-related differences (including immortality) will "magically" go away. Maybe Ginny is right and he really is related to Red in some way.
Bree wrote: "Jeb gave his life for Alyssa, and he is trying to create a career for himself as an artist, so he and Alyssa can get married, potentially. And if he's related to Red, he's related to Alyssa.
Elvina wrote: "And if he's related to Red, he's related to Alyssa."Good point. It would probably be very distantly, but that would be true.
Either both or Jeb. At the same time, I have a conspiracy theory going here that Jeb likes someone else, so... Yup. He could end up with Jen. Or Morpheus gets a fangirl. BTW, if Morpheus doesn't end up with Alyssa, I vote he goes with a brunette. With brown eyes.
;) I can try...
I think she should end up with Morpheus because he lets her be her own hero and herself even if his way of showing he cares is a bit weird, and While Jeb is determined and sweet he's also a bit over controlling and constantly wants to save the day (which isn't necessarily a bad thing but isn't always needed). It wouldn't be too surprising if Jeb turned out to be one of their people considering how smoothly it would work into the story line. I look forward to seeing who she ends up with. :)
It's But to be honest, I'm torn. I just reread Splintered, and I'm going to reread Unhinged too again, even though I just finished it, and I was looking for any hints how Ensnared might end, and the author is giving mixed signals. A lot of times I can swear it will be Morpheus, because of quotes like "You cry for him yet bled for me. One must wonder which is more powerful. More binding." and "Queen and King Red—here’s where it started. And here it will end ". It's in the way Alyssa is always thinking about Morpheus even when she is with Jeb, even when she didn't yet know about M's feelings in Splintered. Eventually, she admits she has feelings for him too, and you know how they say "if you don't know which guy to choose, choose the second, because if the first guy was really the one, you wouldn't fall for someone else in the first place".
Then there is the prophesy, (view spoiler) I can't fathom how can one ever choose the human realm after having been to Wonderland? We readers in the real world have no other options, but Alyssa can have it all and she would choose a cottage with Jeb and two children?!? Can we have a fairy-tale ending just this once? Not to mention that Morpheus and Alyssa's kiss in Splintered wins my award for the most beautiful kiss ever. <3
But then my preemptive pessimism kicks in and I remember how Alyssa said something like "I'm going to spend my life thanking Jeb for his sacrifice" and oh, does it make me shudder. I boggles my mind how everyone (both characters and readers, including the author) can romanticize such a foolish act, but it is discussion for another topic. Because you just don't spend your life with someone out of gratitude. But now, of course, that sacrifice might tether Alyssa to Jeb stronger that feelings ever can.Yes, I know she loves Jeb, but she loves Morpheus too, and I have a feeling that sacrifice is going to be used as a leverage. Not to mention that Morpheus risked his life for Alyssa too, only his actions were not foolish, IMO.
Dahanci wrote: "I have a conspiracy theory going here that Jeb likes someone else, so... Yup. He could end up with Jen. "His sister????
@Natalia. I made the mistake of being optimistic with Ruin and Rising. I should have kept with my philosophy "assume the worst so that everything is better than expected". I'm unfortunately doing that here.
@ Elvina: Me too. I need to hope so badly, because Morpheus deserves a beautiful story. He made the books shine, he was the driving force behind the plot, he is the soul of Wonderland.
Natalia wrote: "Dahanci wrote: "I have a conspiracy theory going here that Jeb likes someone else, so... Yup. He could end up with Jen. "His sister????"
Yes. If we can pair 100-year-old men (this is coming from a Morpheus fan) with 16-year-old girls, we can have incest.
I have no issues. It's a fantasy book *shrugs*
(I happen to also ship SebaCiel)
By the way, technically, he's younger, but still. Even if he's in a cocoon or something for a while, if Alyssa's mom knew him about her age, there are issues. He's probably at least 40.
@ Danachi: I don't have issues, LOL. Whatever it takes to get Jeb occupied somewhere else. I pretended to be shocked for your benefit :P Haha. Really, I'm as open-minded as they come. Age gaps don't bother me either. This is fantasy and I don't measure it by human standards, by real life standards. I would have made a perfect netherling. Love all the crazy stuff of Wonderland. I'm happiest when Alyssa lets her powers free. I rejoice then, and those parts are fun to read. Dancing among flames? Flying among stars? I actually don't find that side of her "dark", more like "fantastic". If I were in her place, Morpheus wouldn't have to ask me twice. I'd say "bye, human realm" and go. End of story.I don't read fantasy to get my fill of normalcy. I want to read about magic things that we can't have in real life, and I want my heroines to end up choosing magic realms.

I have found someone of my kind.
Let's hide in the bushes and watch Morpheus change.
(Also, I don't like things like pedophilia or incest IRL, because of the obvious issues, but in books, I don't really care as much, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.)
Dahanci wrote: "OMK YES.I have found someone of my kind.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind, LOL. He must love all the naughty stuff. I don't have the slightest idea how Alyssa can resist him. I would have melted in a pool of desire at his feet. Unless it is a plot device to make their happy ever after all the more sweeter.
But I love their relationship and how it is slowly building into something greater on Alyssa's part.
YES, give us Morpheus and Alyssa ruling over Wonderland and dancing in the flames until everyone gets mad )))) Did I mention that I totally need that prophesy to come true? I need it as badly as I need oxygen to breathe.
I don't really have issues with it either, in books. Or history because there's a bit to much of it to freak out at there.

I'm totally ready if they need a maid or someone. I will happily do Morpheus' laundry.

And your optimistic attitude is awesome! :-) I still have hope they end up together too!!
Everyone has hope. She loves him. All this journey Alyssa made before she admitted it to herself. The readers love him. Dear author, if you are reading this, don't let it be in vain! It is one of the most chemistry-packed romances I ever read about.
