Romance Lovers for the Challenge-Impaired discussion

I've seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I'm supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I'm just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me--again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects--and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I'm also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me? It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can't use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me--and I'm in for the fight of my life.

I think Gwen introduced him to her friends last book and so he'll talk in front of them now, though him meeting his mirror sword would be enough to get him talking in front of the Reapers!

I finished it this morning. Not a great read, but there is an interesting twist at the end of it...

about to start chapter 10
My thoughts so far:

The wolf showing is interesting but I wonder why she did!
I can't decide if what Gwen sees and feels towards other people is the truth or someone put some kind of magical thingy on her to make her see these things. The red eyes in Morgan , the young Raven and wanting to stab Savanna ...
Why is she still working the library shift? Didn't her grandmother tell her that are rich?
What is Daphne up to?
and can Gwen heal now that she has touched Daphne?

3. I don't believe Grandma Frost said that they were rich, not like the other kids are. The library job is somewhat explained later on in the book.

I think Nicodemus has been in love with her mother but she had married Gwen's father instead or something like that.
And I don't think her father is who she think he is or has died of cancer as she was told.

excuse me???????????????????? she doesn't want to tell Metis that she knows who the reaper girl is because she doesn't have proof????????????????they have been believing everything she's told them, why does she think she needs proof this time? She can just go the teachers and tell them one of these girls could be the RG based on what she read from this ring. And let them decide if she's right or wrong! GOD she's dumb!

And you're right about the ending!

Towards the end I skimmed a lot and I don't think I missed anything.
Her reasons for rejecting logan was so ridiculous that I can't even. ..
Resurrecting Voldermort Loki was absolutely a rip off!
Most of the book was predictable.Snape Nicodemus's confession about her mother I'd seen it coming from the first book!
I really liked Nott I would have enjoyed reading a book about her more than Gwen!

How did you rate it Trea? And will you read more? I'm not sure yet.

I haven't written my review, but I'll be rating it 2 stars, as I agree with everything you mentioned here.

As for reading more, I'm willing to give Crimson Frost a try and use that as my deciding story.

Gah! The last book felt like a ripoff of one of the Vampire Academy books and this one is obviously ripping off Harry Potter...

Totally agree with you about the Harry Potter rip off! Never read Vampire Academy, so didn't realize it with the last book...

Exactly!

I'm done. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On one hand it was better written than the previous ones, on the other, it was obviously ripping off Harry Potter and as a result Gwen did dumb stuff to force the plot in the direction that the author wanted. So 2 stars, I'm in for one more. These are disappointing in that they have so much potential but the author doesn't know how to maximize it. I'm mad at both the author for ripping off other authors and at the editor for not calling her on it.

Hi, new to the group. So I haven't read the previous series books, does it matter if I begin with #4? Don't want to commit if there are characters that are intertwining from one book to the next...may find myself a bit lost not knowing the characters.

Welcome to the group! Sadly, the characters are repeated in every book, and each book builds upon the events of the previous ones, so I would not recommend starting with book 4.
