Hi Elisabeth! Welcome!
If he likes epic fantasy he might enjoy Malazan. It's a ten book series plus has other books set in the same universe by a different author. Start with Gardens of the Moon.
Also anything by Brandon Sanderson is usually a good bet.
Darker stuff: The First Law Series by Joe Abercrombie
The Broken Empire Series by Mark Lawrence
Beyond Redemption and The Mirror’s Truth by Michael R. Fletcher
Hope this helps!

A lighter one, The Lies of Locke Lamora and the rest by Scott Lynch.
For some flintlock/military fantasy, I suggest The Emperor's Blades and Promise of Blood.
If he likes gender-bending, non traditional fantasy, try The Mirror Empire by Kameron Hurley. More traditional one, maybe Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. And to add more female writers in the mix, obviously The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin starting with The Fifth Season is the ultimate go-to.
Last but not least, how about the group's previous reads? :) https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
All those already mentioned plus Kings of the Wyld, John Gwynne's Faithfull and Fallen series and anything by David Gemmell,
He's in the military, protecting our freedom and doing work some of us are too old to do.. He deserves a free book. Send me your address (or his) outside the public forum and I'll ship Gods of Color.

I will not decline it, but I think that you sending the book to me or him might cost considerable more than the book. He's Finnish, but we live in Denmark and he's working in The Danish Defense Force. I assume you're American, patriotism isn't really a thing here in Denmark, unfortunately... But that you so much!

Now I would like to send him some new reading material, but what? My taste in books is very different from his, so I was hoping to find some help here!
Anyone who can recommend something like Game of Thrones or Markus Hertz Dwarf-books? :-)
Thanks in advance!
