The threads are already up and both books are listed on the front page of the group, Linda... Gone Baby Gone by Dennis Lehane
Every Dead Thing by John Connolly... There you go
I would like to nominate The Great Swindle Pierre Lemaitre as it won the CWA International Dagger last year, but I'm a little confused by its Goodreads classification which doesn't seem to fit.- it's listed as Historical Fiction.Has anyone read it already and can confirm that it is (I think) a Crime Thriller?
Carolyn wrote: "I would like to nominate The Great Swindle Pierre Lemaitre as it won the CWA International Dagger last year, but I'm a little confused by its Goodreads classificatio..."It won the award for international crime fiction, so I'll add it.
Skye wrote: "The Mercedes Coffin by Faye Kellerman"I've added it, Skye. It's the 17th book in a series. Can it be read without missing much from the past books?
I imagine, Bill, most of her books are stand-alones, more or less, but it's been quite awhile since I've read her; ( they do follow a schema---Detective Peter Decker and his Hacidic wife, Rina Lazarus, who gets involved in his cases.

Frankly, their story is charming; second marriage for both; Peter had been an Irish Catholic, but converted; his daughter from the first marriage is also a homicide detective.
I nominate Devil-Devil by Graeme Kent. It is the first in a series and takes place in the Solomon Islands.
I apologize, I have not gotten to participate in a while. Have we already done, The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler? There is an L and a K! If so, the second book? The Nightmare?
With hurricane season well under way I have a yen to read The Cypress House by Michael Koryta. This semi-supernatural thriller is set in Florida during the killer hurricane of 1935.
I'd like to nominate The Unquiet Dead, by Ausma Zehanat Khan, the first in a series set in Toronto featuring a police duo, Rachel Getty and Esa Khattak. A friend raves about these and I've been meaning to read this one.

This is the link to the poll. You can also find it by clicking on Polls on the group page. It should be first.https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...
As always, request you don't vote if you don't plan to take part in the Group Read discussions if the book you vote for wins.
Thanks.
The two books chosen for the October Group Read are -1.
Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll (nominated by Natalie)2.
Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger (nominated by Sally)Natalie and Sally will be moderators. The threads will be set up October 1st so you've got a couple of weeks to start reading.
Congrats and enjoy!
I tried to located the link for you earlier, William, and I will be in that group, as well. Now, please tell me if you've ever read Ann Cleeves and/or Tony Hillerman ( would love your input).
Skye wrote: ".... ever read Ann Cleeves and/or Tony Hillerman ( would love your input)."No, but they sound good. The entire population of the Shetlands is only 23,000 😊

I'll butt in here :). I have read all of Cleeves' Shetland books and they are a favorite series. Their slow pace matches the culture of the Shetlands. I am just getting ready to listen to the first in her Vera series - I love the tv show. I also have read many Hillerman books and they are favorites as well. Maybe we should do a group read for one of these one day.!

I like them all as well, Suzy. I've yet to finish the Shetlands or the Veras and am looking forward to trying the George & Molly books. I think we may have done a group read on one or more of these, but i'm not sure. You can always do buddy reads, we do have a thread set up for them

This is the group read thread for nominations for the October 2017 Group Read. Nominations will remain open until I get between 15 and 20 nominations. Then I'll set up the poll.
OK now. For October's nominations the category is Author's who's last name starts with either K or L. There have been a few books that can't be chosen as they've been selected within the last 3 years. They are -
- Gone, Baby, Gone by Dennis Lehane (currently reading in fact)
- Defending Jacob by William Landay
- The Mystery of the Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux
- The Last Detective by Peter Lovesey
- The Drop by Dennis Lehane
- You by Caroline Kepnes
- 11/22/63 by Stephen King
- The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King
- The Ice Princess by Camilla Läckberg
The basic rules for Group reads still apply -
a) this is not the place for authors to nominate their own books,
b) if you nominate a book and it wins, you are the discussion leader. If you don't want to take an active role as the moderator, then please please please don't nominate a book.
c) please use the "add book/author" feature when making your nomination.
I'll keep the nominations open until we get 15 - 20 books. Good luck!
