I started this last night, but my reading is really sporadic right now since I'm on holiday.

I started this on vacation. I...haven't read anything else by her and this looks like book 4 in the universe. Not really getting into it right now.
Colleen, I completely missed that you started this. :( I probably will get to it next weekend. I'm currently reading a book club and once I finish up I'll start on this one. Mrs J- my understanding is that this "duology" takes place 2 years after the Shadow and Bone (The Grisha Trilogy). From what Leigh said, you don't need to read the previous trilogy to read Six of Crows, but there are characters that are mentioned in this one from the previous trilogy.
Yes. It's possible that I've just become lazy - modern writers just give it up to you like $2 pros - and I hadn't received any explanations yet.
I honestly keep forgetting it's in the same universe until they mention the Grisha. I'm also finding it a bit slow to get into, but that's because I'm still on the 'gather your party' pages.

Yep. Me, too.
I put it down but I plan to pick it up again. The book is just unbelievable beautiful. I refuse to believe it's not fun and interesting, too.
So, I ended up liking it. I really dug the characters by the end, especially Kaz and Inej. I liked the way the character histories were sort of intertwined with what was happening on the heist side. There were a few parts that were a little hard to follow, or times when the action got a bit bogged down with exposition...
But, overall, I thought it was decent. Probably liked the characters more than the plot, though.
I liked it enough that I want to jump right into the next book, though.
So... I did jump into Crooked Kingdom. It's longer than the first book, I think, and things are slow going... but I'm still really into seeing how it all comes out and how the characters will fare. There's a large part of me, though, which is mostly just obsessed with (view spoiler)
