This was another nice visit to the futuristic New York of Eve Dallas and the scrumptious Roarke. Dallas is having drinks with a friend at a bar when a woman stumbles into the room, bleeding, and dies. She turns out to be Larinda Mars, professional gossip, and in the course of the investigation Eve discovers she was also a blackmailer. So who of the many who had reason to wish her dead actually did the deed?
Not the best of this series, but satisfying enough for fans. The murderer is kind of made obvious; lately I notice there is not much attempt to keep the reader guessing whodunnit. Still, I read these mostly for the characters, and there is plenty enough of them to keep me happy till the next book comes out.
