Alfred I have just picked up this book and am not through more than the first chapter. I find it interesting, but so far I am lost and interested to see where the author will take me.

R.S. Merritt The book is more of an intellectual exercise in remaking the Civil War along political lines versus State Lines. A lot of people think it bashes liberals but I think it does a decent job of highlighting the concerns of both sides and it does what a Sci-Fi book is supposed to do which is reimagine society in a different way augmented by a futuristic technology. It's also a fast paced adventure /thriller / spy type novel with military pieces thrown in. I have re-read it a few times and always enjoy it. I read pretty fast though so it's not a huge investment of my time to re-read. Comes from growing up in a light house and on islands :-) It does all come together at the end and start making more sense the more you read it.

Alfred I am now 1/3 of the way through this book and still find it hard to read, but read it I will. I wish I could say it was interesting but lets settle for intriguing.

R.S. Merritt Ha ha! You can do it! :-) If you're like me you get that far in and you're almost compelled to finish the damn thing. My wife and kids start watching movies or shows around me and I get sucked in and I'll finish the show even if they don't. Even if I have no interest what so ever in the topic! I promise the book is at least better than an episode of Real House Wives of wherever. Although, Sponge Bob or the show with the dogs that have magic powers could give it a run for its money!
