Diamondshard almost lashed out at the guard but quickly calmed down. She knew they were in trouble. Why has those Sandwings wanted them anyway?
Diamondshard glanced up at the Sandwing, refusing to give into the urge of bowing. She didn't seem to be afraid, but felt rather nervous. She was actually quite surprised that there was another king of the Sandwings. The Nightwing was silent
Fjord eyed him curiously. Even tho gh he was scared, he was rather curious about why they were there. “Why are we here?” he asked.
Aren't you full of yourself Diamondshard thought, she tried to remain polite. "I am Diamondshard. A student at JadeMountain Academy for young dragonets" she cleared her throat to sound more professional. "What would you want with a couple of dragonets who are enemies in war? What could we possibly do?"
"A couple other Sandwings were chasing off. We kind of ran into your guards while escaping" Diamondshard explained, avoiding the 'Kings' gaze
"Once again, we're students of JadeMountain" Diamondshard half-lied. Fjord wasn't a student, but she was. The Seawing had spent his life with the Sandwings though.
Diamondshard shrugged, "There hasn't been a battle" she pointed out. "Besides, why would JadeMountain be attacked?"
Fjord hadn’t been to that place. Still, he had to follow her on this. “Why would someone do that? And we were just traveling and wanted to see your magnificent city, great king. We mean no harm, just curiosity.” He wanted to try and appeal the king’s good side... that is, if he had any. Anyone with the mind on kidnapping designers from a peaceful place was pretty bad in his book.
Fjord gulped. He hoped this was going to be good, if not, well... if not they were dead or imprisoned either way. He felt terrible. It had been his fault. “Fjord, my name is Fjord.” He turned to Diamondshard and whispered. “I’m sorry I got us into this mess...”
Diamondshard fell silent, and actually felt more comfortable not talking. She gave Fjord a smile, "It wasn't your fault" she was still happy to comfort her friend. It was a true statement too. If Diamondshard had fought by Fjord's side, he wouldn't have gotten stung
Diamondshard shot Eejanaika an annoyed look but quickly covered it up with a positive look. She still thought he was over-confident. There was no way the Nightwing could lie again, it might just get them into more trouble. "Sir, we don't understand why we are being kept here. If we pose no threat, there is no purpose of keeping us here"
Diamondshard seemed even more annoyed than ever. She wasn't stupid, she was just hoping that the 'King' wouldn't say that. "Information" smoke seemed to rise from her snout. It was pretty clear that the dragonet was furious. She hadn't seen her tribe in months, what would she know? Diamondshard was more worried for her friend, but not living with the Seawings wouldn't do much help either. Is that all I'm good for? Bait!? she tried to locate the nearest exits but everything seemed dark. If anything, Fjord had the bigger advantage, since he could see in the dark. Better spots to hide she reminded herself, trying to calculate her speed.
Diamondshard kept her gaze on Eejanaika, though she seemed to calm down a bit. She nodded slowly, "Yes. It's been quite some time" she murmured softly. She sadly wasn't even sure if she remembered her mothers face. Spreading my wings would give my position away... Not unless I stuck close to the ground in the shadows to hide those bright scales she thought, though didn't even glance to the side.
Diamondshard's tail began to lash, though she tried to hide it. "Surely, not having some of your guards dead is enough pay," the Nightwing had nothing except the bracelet she had found. It didn't look like much either. She tried to act like a tough Nightwing that could talk herself out of things but it didn't seem possible. She just sounded like an annoying dragonet that had no tricks up her talons. The urge to bust out of the place seemed to slap her across the face, but she quickly realized the exit was probably lined with traps as well.
"I only have this bracele-" Diamondshard gently took off her bracelet, offering it to him before pausing. "How do I know that you're telling the truth?" she asked suspiciously. She knew that thieves often lied, and Eejanaika seemed like one

Diamondshard was quite thankful that Eejanaika wasn't the selfish dragon that he seemed to be. She glanced at Fjord worriedly, but quickly covered her unease up. "Anything" she murmured, more worried about her friends safety than her own. After all, she did knock him into a river while he was afraid of water
Diamondshard grasped the bottle gently, but made sure it didn't slip from her talons. She wasn't sure if it was a serious threat or just one concerned about her safety. Maybe both she thought, though she was sure it was the first one. After being silent for quite some time, she nodded. "Yes sir" she was just glad he didn't want a Nightwing in his army. Of course the mischievous dragonets would return, well, Diamondshard wanted to at least. But she'd hate to run into the 'Talons of Power'
"We can find the exit on our own" Diamondshard replied with confidence. And there's the real Sandwing she thought with a small smile and eye roll.
Fjird had blanked out during all of that. He suddenly shook his head and turned to Diamondshard. “You... gave up your bracelet for me...” he said ashamed. “You didn’t have to that, I...” he smiled weakly. “Thank you... I’m so sorry...”
Diamondshard shrugged, "It's totally fine! Besides, I don't even think the bracelet was worth much" she added softly so the 'King' wouldn't hear. "Besides, it's what friends do"
Fjord went outside with her and smiled. "Thank you very much. It's nice to have a, well, friend." He looked down. "I've actually never had one before."
Diamondshard seemed shocked at that last comment. "But you're the perfect kind of dragon to be someone's friend!" She was happy to have Fjord by her side
He brushed his wing with hers and chuckled smiling. "Thank you, you are also an amazing friend!" he said. "I can't be luckier to have met you, particularly under, well, my circumnstances."
Diamondshard smiled at his touch, blushing a bit. "No, thank you! You're the bestestestest friend ever!" she did a small happy dance, glad that they had met. "Sorry for knocking you into a river when we met"
Fjord smiled. “Don’t worry. Actually... I’m glad you did, I won’t forget how we met because of that!” he said playfully and then looked forward. “Well, I guess we’re free to go. Maybe...” he looked at her. “We should get a map, might help us!” He said.
Diamondshard was still blushing, but she tried to cover it up. "That's a great idea!" she chirped, cautiously walking with him. "If you don't mind me asking... Why did the Sandwings keep you out of water? Water is so important to a Seawing"
Fjord shivered at but at the question, memories flooding his mind. “Because... I guess they didn’t want me to swim away. They would’ve had trouble following me and well, I would’ve been able to return...” he stopped and then sighed. “To return home.”
Diamondshard hugged him, pulling away awkwardly. "Sorry for asking, I guess I'm the right dragon for awkwardness!" she chirped, trying to get the mood back up. "Maybe we can visit the Seawing Kingdom! Well... I wouldn't technically be able to go but..... Its an option!
Twister hugged her back and chuckled. “don’t worry, awkwardness tends to be from both parties.” He looked at her. “Do you think we could... go?” he asked.
Diamondshard giggled a bit, "Of course we can! Do we want a map or just fly solo?" she asked, though flying solo did get them into trouble.
Fjord looked around and spotted a tent with maps in it. An elderly dragon seemed to Be selling them. “Map sounds like a good idea,” he said nervously, remembering how they’d gotten into trouble without one.
Diamondshard nodded, "If only we had a map that told us exactly where we were. That'd be extremely helpful" she thought out loud, not really realizing she had said that aloud. "Ya! Let's just hope it's cheap" she replied, pondering if she could possibly sneak a few gems from lazy/sleeping dragons. That's stealing she growled silently to herself
Fjord slowly smiled blushing. “I... err...kinda solved us that problem.” He slowly showed her a little pouch with gems inside. “The guard wasn’t checking much on me when he carried me.”
Diamondshard clapped her talons together softly. "Wow! You sneaky little dragonet" she nudged him gently, "I hope he won't miss his jewels!" she chirped excitedly
Fjord laughed. “He was a jerk though, he deserved it!” he said jokingly as he approached the elderly dragon and got a map. He gave the dragon a gem. The dragon shook his head. Fjord sighed and placed two more. The dragon smiled and Fjord showed her the map. “We have this, now what?”
Diamondshard waited, tapping her foot against the ground when the dragon wanted two gems. "These dragons are pricey!" she murmured, though still had her smile. "Well, if we're here....." she pointed to the Scorpion Den. "Then the kingdom is East
Fjord nodded. “Let’s get going then!” he said smiling. The entrance was near them now. “And now we don’t have half the city in our tails.”
Energy stuck to Diamondshard like a moth to light. "I can't wait!" she was having her doubts about not being able to breath, but maybe she could make it work. She had heard about the whole, 'breathing wholes' on to the actual kingdom
The SeaWing shared her enthusiasm. Her energy seemed to go into Fjord as he felt his whole body tremble with excitement. He was going to go home for the first time since he remembered... "Diamondshard?" he said. "Thank you, for coming with me, I can't imagine being alone." He hugged her.
Dimaondshard smiled, "Ye-" she paused when he hugged her. "I wouldn't ever turn a friend down! Besides, it'll be an interesting adventure! Like an amazing scroll. Adventure, mystery, friendship"
He nodded. "It's probably gonna be interesting," he said. "Let's go!" he said, taking to the air and going towards the exit.
