What is the scariest book you have ever read? Doesn't necessarily have to be Stephen King.

Good question.........I guess that, because I was young, Salem's Lot was up there. I read The Shining later, and because the monster in that story (alcoholic who falls off the wagon and tries to axe his family) isn't always too far from reality, that was pretty scary, too. I'm sure at least 75% of the people in this group will say the same author, but those are the first ones that come to mind.
