Caraval One book November guys! Have some fun this month and some good eating! I hope this is light fun!

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I got the book from the library today, and I realized that I spelt the title wrong so many times. haha. No wonder I had a hard time finding it on goodreads.

message 3: by Giki (new)

Giki | 64 comments :-) me too, It was easy to find once i spelt it right!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Lmao.

Holy Moly, abusive.

Stephanie Garber describes things more "artistically", or that is the best way I can think of it. She thinks of colors, and all I can think of is an artist painting on their canvas.

So, on my way home from the book store I was looking at leaves, and trying to describe them in a way she did. Orange leaves, I guess I would describe them as looking as pumpkin pie. LOL That is the first thing I thought of at least. Red leaves I thought of blushing, or maybe that warm feeling after your first kiss. Different way of thinking of things, or at least for me.

So, on my way..."

I took that whole colour thing to be a quirk of the mind of the charecter narrator, something like synesthesia, where words, people and perhaps even emotions are perceived as having colours.

Giki | 64 comments I have some theories..... I am at 30% in the book so i will put them under a spoiler tag just incase i am freakishly correct!!!

OH! I am glad you told me this. I was wondering if anyone thought in this way. Learn something new everyday!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Agree with theory number 1. He is someone important. I am thinking more of him being number 2.

I never thought about theory number 2. That is an interesting thought. hmmmm. I like that thought.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

When the guy asked the borrow her voice, I thought of the Little Mermaid, when Urusla says "All I need is your voice." lol

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I think you are right about synesthesia, Giki.

I am on chapter 28, and I did not expect what just happened.

on theory 2 - I don't think Donatella would have sent her sister away from the door like that - whatever was going on.... guys are guys but sisters are sisters...

I need to get back to reading and catch up!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Agree. Also as a sister I would of busted through that door to protect her, especially if she sounded scared.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished the book. It was fun.

Giki | 64 comments I liked parts of this book,
(view spoiler)

It made me think about the best and worst magic plot twists in other stories.
I think my favorite was in the tv show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' where buffy's sister Dawn just turns up in her kitchen one day, she has never been mentioned before but everyone acts totally normally. I think 'did i miss an episode?, has she been there before?am i going crazy?', and then I think 'well that is sloppy of the programme makers - do they think we wont notice?', but of course it is a major plot point later in the series, but for the next 4 or 5 episodes everyone acts a sif she was always there. Brilliant.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Lmao. I think everyone was going crazy when Dawn came into the season.

I agree some of the magic was eh. I was expecting more. That is why I am going to re-read The Night Circus. maybe you will like that one. I did like parts of the book, too. I gave it a three stars. Where you shocked when (view spoiler) I know it shouldn't of shocked me. The evidence was right in my face, but it got me good.

Giki | 64 comments I was suprised (view spoiler)

I have heard good things about the night circus - I plan to read it soon after a bit of magic circus detox. I think I need a good intense romance next - any suggestions?

I am not very good at the romance genre...Me Before You? Outlander? Pride and Prejudice? Anything by Jane Austen? Anything by Nicholas Sparks? Fried Green Tomatoes?

message 26: by Giki (new)

Giki | 64 comments I am joking - just in case you get ideas - I have seen the tv series so I defo do not need to read the book.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)
