Just a message to let you all know, if you haven't already bought it, 'The Snow Child' is currently 99p in the glorious Kindle Store monthly sale. Get it while it is so cheap!

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) This is perfect timing as I just picked up a copy of this in a charity shop, a week ago :)

Hi Dannii. That's a sign to join the read-along if ever I saw one. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the book.

Me too, this is exciting! I hope you manage to find the others to reserve them.

There are reports of snow on the news for this weekend, guys, for the U.K. I don't think it is going to stick around in South Wales where I am, but it has been on and off today. Take care, follow bookworms and happy reading!

Jenny (notestothemoon) I'm supposed to be driving to London on Sunday so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. Starting this one this evening. Really looking forward to it. Have high hopes after reading To the Bright Edge of the World and hearing this is better!

Same here, Jenny. It's been on my bookshelf for such a long time, so I'm looking forward to finally reading it. I've heard so many good things about it. However, the hype surrounding this book when it was first released made me feel nervous. I hope the book will live up to our expectations. Safe travels for Sunday!

I’ve read the first two chapters today. Wow, it’s intense!

Jenny (notestothemoon) I've made a start, just the first chapter but her writing is beautiful!

It is beautiful. I have found myself re-reading passages because of this very reason. The descriptions are so vivid that I felt I was actually there with Jack and Mabel. It feels like a book which a reader could get lost in for hours.

Clare Jayne | 2 comments Sorry for the delay in joining in. I've read "The Snow Child" before and love it - it's like stepping through the wardrobe to a new land with all the raw detail and magic. I couldn't put it down last night and read more than half of it in one go. As an author, I really envy Eowyn Ivey's ability to bring her world to life in a way that completely draws the reader in. I'm not so sure about the Garrett/Faina love story, though, which seems to be based around killing, although I understand that they're both meant to resemble wild creatures - what did others think?

Jenny (notestothemoon) How's everyone getting along. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through and enjoying it. I'm glad that the Snow Child dissapeared for the summer, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it all that much if the book had just been centred around her. I love the relationship between Jack and Mabel and Ester's family.

Not reached the part you mention Clare. But I'm almost glad something like that happens. I think the story needs it.

I’ve reached the half way mark now. I’m a bit behind, but I am thoroughly enjoying the book. How’s everyone else doing?

Clare Jayne | 2 comments I think it's a beautiful novel overall - the ending is very poignant. It's on my list of favourites for reading over the winter.

Jolene (jolenehughes) | 5 comments I’m about a quarter of the way through and I am finally starting to enjoy it

Jenny (notestothemoon) I've finished it. overall I enjoyed it but there was just something about it that I didn't enjoy. dare I say it was a little boring. I thought some bits of it were really beautiful but I think perhaps the characters were all a little flat apart from esther?

I get what you mean, Jenny. Esther does stand out as a fully-rounded character. The others seem one-dimensional to me.

Jolene (jolenehughes) | 5 comments I have finally finished and despite finding it boring at the beginning I enjoyed it although I was disappointed with the ending

After all that build up, the ending came around rather quick didn’t it?

Jolene (jolenehughes) | 5 comments It did which was a shame really
