message 1: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (readingrachbow) Hi everyone!

Going forward I wanted everyone to have some information:

Chrissy and I are always available via GR message. I get the messages straight to my phone and will respond as quickly as I can. Should you have something you’d like us to see and address quickly, please message us.

I will however, be putting notifications on for this post. If you have a question or suggestion or something that you feel needs brought to our attention, please do so here and one of us will respond as quickly as we are able.

Thank you!

Solia Martinez-Jacobs (xislacrucesx) | 5 comments Is there any way to make a goodreads list of all the books mentioned on the podcast? I think it’d be a great resource/reference!

message 3: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (readingrachbow) There is one! I started one. Life has kind of eaten me alive, so I haven’t updated it, but I can find it in the morning, and update it if you’d like!

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (readingrachbow) https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Here’s that link for you!

message 5: by Solia (new)

Solia Martinez-Jacobs (xislacrucesx) | 5 comments Thanks! Any way to bookmark it? (I use goodreads almost exclusively in the app. 😑)

message 6: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (readingrachbow) I don’t think so 😭 I don’t think the app even has list functionality, unfortunately.

message 7: by Solia (new)

Solia Martinez-Jacobs (xislacrucesx) | 5 comments Sad day! So glad there’s a list at all though! I’ll just reference back to this post. :)

Sharon Kozar | 1 comments Heard you lament on podcast that you miss out on instragram (not posting pics of kindle) How about a "Where's Kindle" post. Pics of kindle with hint of landmark in background. :-)

Emily | 1 comments I’m curious if discussion threads for Annihilation are going to be created? I’m itching to discuss it with other folks! :)

Normally Rachel takes care of the read along side of things. Looks like she. At be a bit busy dealing with life etc.
I’m not reading it, but I’ll have a look for you and see if I can find the schedule, so I can create the discussion threads for you 😊

There are also some discussion threads going on in the Reading Glasses Facebook Group!

I’m not sure. Rachel usually takes charge of these, and it appears she’s been a little absent as of late, for whatever reason. Let me find out, and I shall get back to you 😊

message 14: by Jillypenny (new)

Jillypenny I’m having an issue with the Spring has Sprung book exchange. I received nothing. I have sent notification of this to the theoretical sender and have received no answer. I sent a couple of messages to Rachel and I’ve received no response. I see nothing about an upcoming book exchange. What is happening?

Katherine Reiter | 1 comments Is there any way to add the reading glasses 2019 challenge to the group challenges?

message 16: by Jessie Drew (new)

Jessie Drew (jessiedrew7) I would be so down with adding the reading glasses challenge! Yassssss 👍🏽

message 17: by Sashi (new)

Sashi | 4 comments Hi, everyone! I just want to advocate for sending in some reader quotes; the show ending has been a little bare recently, and it's always so fun to hear what sticks out to different people in different books!

message 18: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (leoth3lion) | 5 comments Hi, just here to also advocate for adding a Reading Glasses Challenge thread so we can discuss the books we're choosing/ how it's coming! Also seconding Sashi's post! I love sending in my recordings and it is cool to see passages folks are drawn to!

message 19: by Richard (new)

Richard I see this group doesn't do a book of the month anymore, but I think we should give it one more shot, because there's a book by this great new author that has just burst onto the scene. Has anyone heard of The Lady from the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick?

message 20: by Erik (new)

Erik Redin (erik_redin) | 28 comments Would it be possible to move the podcast discussions section up above all of the old read-along discussions so it's easier for people to find?

message 21: by Ines (new)

Ines (innit13) | 2 comments Hi!

I hope this is the right thread to ask this question. I've been bingeing the podcast and now I can't remember in which episode they talked about the following book: it was about a woman who takes part in a TV survival show and doesn't realise that a catastrophe happened and that she is no longer on TV but a real survivor. Does anyone remember the title or the episode it was mentioned in? I think it was simply something one of the hosts was currently reading and not part of the episode topic :-/

Thanks!

message 22: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 1 comments Hi Ines, it’s The Last One by Alexandra Oliva

message 23: by Ines (new)

Ines (innit13) | 2 comments Thank you, Olivia 😊

message 24: by Joan (new)

Joan | 1 comments Are they no longer doing listener quotes at the end or have they just not been receiving any? I'd sent a few in a while back and was surprised at how quickly they aired so I thought it might be the latter, but there's just been nothing lately. I was planning to do more, but now I'd be super self-conscious if mine were the only ones being played!

message 25: by Christina (new)

Christina (defarge) | 3 comments Could we add a group challenge, for the 2020 Reading Glasses Challenge? I found some info on how to do this. And I realized it was an available feature because I saw it on the Reading Women group.

A thread to discuss the challenge would be great too!

Christina (defarge) | 3 comments Margaret wrote: "Do you post your reading challenge somewhere?"

Yes! It lets you track books you read for the group-specific challenge, similar to how you can track books for your overall GR Reading Challenge.

Here's what my Reading Women challenge page looks like: https://www.goodreads.com/user_challe...

message 27: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1 comments Does anyone have a good recommendation on buying books not published in the US? I am looking for The Ninth Rain Trilogy specifically. Thanks!

message 28: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rjust44) I have a question and I'm not sure if this is addressed somewhere else or if I should be asking somewhere else but does anyone know if the Chrome Library Extension no longer works in Goodreads? I've had it for years and I love it and I know that it is still working, because it shows up when I am on Amazon, but it no longer shows up on these newly formatted goodreads book pages. Does anyone have this working for them? Have they deleted it in an effort to drive more book purchases to Amazon? Am I being overly paranoid (:P) ?

message 29: by Marah (new)

Marah Archer (maraharcher804) | 6 comments Hello Rebecca, I'm not sure. I hope Goodreads catches up if there's no quick fix!

Moose (borderlinemoose) | 1 comments I've heard the hosts mention 'Reading Pathways', or something like that, many times in the show - Plot, Setting, Characters, etc. But I've never been able to find anything online about what specific system/study they're referring to, any help or links would be appreciated!

It was introduced by "superlibrarian" Nancy Pearl. Here's her Ted Talk:

message 32: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor | 1 comments I really liked the recent best books of 2021. I do kinda wish the name of the book would be repeated after the description of why it was good. I kept having to rewind. :)

message 33: by Dori (new)

Dori | 1 comments Hey, I just started listening the last couple of months. I'd love to get the newsletter but it looks like the mail chimp doesn't exist anymore? Not sure if this is the right place to post but gotta start somewhere. Thanks!
