Beppy and me I are reading Nora Roberts' The Collector together this month, and would love to have others join us. We've both already started reading, but latecomers are welcome, too!

I finished the book this evening, and as with most (if not all) Nora Roberts books, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I listened to the audio, and the narrator, Julia Whelan (aka Sophie Eastlake), did an exceptional job, as usual. I really liked all the characters (well, the ones I was supposed to like anyway) and I thought the secondary characters and even the less important ones were developed enough to feel like I knew and understood them. I loved Lila...I have a soft spot for anyone (real or fictional) who thinks duct tape and WD40 are essential parts of daily life! ;-)
The plot was more than a little farfetched, but I don't have a problem suspending disbelief if the story is well written and keeps my interest, which this definitely did.
I read this one last month and also enjoyed it a lot. Its better than some of Nora's more recent books. Lila's people watching and the homage to Rear Window were great.
I agree that the plot was a little out there but Nora's research into Faberge eggs was superb.
I also read this book last month, It was my first Nora Roberts book but wont be my last. I really liked Lila as a character, she made me laugh all through the book with some of the things that came out of her mouth even though she was being 100% serious.

It will keeps me busy for a while.
Didn't realize anyone was reading this book. I just finished it a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. I am on a NR readathon this year. Have been reading a lot of her back list as well as new stuff. I really liked Lila as well. Having moved around a lot in my life - I could really relate to her issues around it. Ash was occasionally annoying but I liked how they worked with each other's issues.
If anyone wants to join, there is a thread for it in this group on the Dare You to Read section. Happy to have others chat about whatever NR book they are reading.
I'm in, just waiting for it to become available from the library as I've hit my book $$ quota for the month already
i finished this a couple of days ago, and i enjoyed it. it wasn't my favourite nr, but there were enough good moments in it for me to want to re-read it. i also liked lila. she seemed more like a real person than a typical romance heroine. she answered the door with no makeup and shlubby clothes, and couldn't immediately morph into "most gorgeous woman ever", and i like that she was kind of fatalistic about it. a couple of things surprised me: nr usually has great heroes, and ashton just didn't really grab my attention. also, her villains are usually more complex, rather than just cardboard cut outs, and i missed that. i don't mean that i like her villains, they are usually fleshed out a bit more.

I will say, though, that Born in Fire showed me just how much she actually researches. i would have sworn that she had personal knowledge of glass blowing after i read this one.
