Dreamflight felt the ground soften beneath her paws and knew they had crossed the border into the swamp. "Where to now?" She mewed at Grayfire, her voice laced with curiosity.

Grayfire walked out of the leaf strewn forest and purred when he felt the moist ground beneath his paws. "This way." He told Dreamflight and padded forward, careful not to lead his crush into any puddles or sticks.

Dreamflight nodded and padded after Grayfire, taking careful steps. She kept her eyes focused on the tom, and smiled playfully while resisting the urge to bat at his tail as it waved in front of her as they walked.

Grayfire walked forward, and spotted the flat tall rock with pointed sides a few fox-lengths ahead. He glanced behind him at Dreamflight and smirked when he saw her watching his tail. He touched it to her nose, then pointed to the rock.

Dreamflight blushed when his tail brushed against her nose and she felt heat rise to her face. She nodded at the rock he pointed and shuffled her paws before hurrying towards the rock, playfully swatting at him as she raced past him.

Grayfire smiled and watched her run away, feeling light-hearted. He quickly bounded after her and leaped onto the rock, having to quickly jump off a small point to get to the smoother top.

Dreamflight bounded up after Grayfire to the top of the rock and giggled, breathless from the short race. Curious, she peered around the swamp and smiled, "You sure can see a lot from up here." She mewed softly and gazed over at Grayfire.

Grayfire nodded slowly, keeping his eyes on her as he laid on his stomach. The sun lowered itself toward the horizon and made the sky around it a mixture of pink, orange, and dark purple in places.

Dreamflight smiled at the change of colors and purred, "It's beautiful!" She whispered and stared at the horizon, her tail flicking happily. She turned back to Grayfire, "Thank you for showing me."

Grayfire smiled at her, then turned to watch the sun again. He sighed and murmured, "This is perfect."

Dreamflight nodded, agreeing and curled up next to Grayfire, purring contentedly. She gazed at the horizon and the changing colors as they hit clouds.

Redtalon grumbled the whole way as he entered the swamp. With a snort he had to try a bit harder to pick up his sister's scent among the strong scents of the swamp. The water and mud helped hide their smells, but he spotted a paw print now and then and followed them, reminding himself to keep quiet.

Grayfire was shocked a little, but didn't show it. He twined his tail with hers and licked the top of her head. The sun was half of it's way set, and the colors shone brightly down on them.

Dreamflight tried to remain calm on the exterior, but she felt her heart flutter and rise up her throat. She licked his cheek and murmured, "I love you Grayfire." She felt her cheeks burn after she blurted it out and did her best to hide her embarrassment.

Grayfire's eyes widened and ears pricked a little. He looked at her with a small smile and blushed. He looked away and murmured, "I love you, too."

Dreamflight purred happily and nuzzled her head against his, "That makes me really happy."

Redtalon stopped walking and sniffed the air again, looking around. He spotted a large rock off in the distance. Thinking he saw movement there, he padded off in that direction, a fire growing in his belly.

Grayfire moved closer to Dreamflight and licked her cheek gently. "Will you-" he was about to ask something, but he then saw something. No, someone behind Dreamflight. His heart lurched when he noticed who it was. "Redtalon." He stated in a deep voice.

Dreamflight had been too lost in her reverie, and was confused when Grayfire didn't finish his question. She felt her blood run cold when she heard a familiar growl behind her and Grayfire stating her brother's name. The fur along her spine rose and she spun around to face her brother.

Redtalon stood over the two cats, his fur on end, only seeing red. "What are you two doing?" He asked, already knowing the answer. He was infuriated. How dare his sister cozy up to a tom he did not approve of. Not that he approved of any. Redtalon clawed at the top of the rock, his muscles tensed as he cast a stony glare down at both cats.

Grayfire shot to his paws, but swallowed his fear and stood up taller. He would let Dreamflight deal with her mousebrained brother, and if things went too far he would intervene.

Dreamflight cast a defiant look at her brother, "None of your business Redtalon. Go back to camp." She hated him for ruining everything.

Redtalon growled, "Not unless you're coming back with me. I'm not leaving you around with him." He spat out the last word as if it left a dirty taste in his mouth.

Dreamflight snarled, "Go away. I'll love who I please!" She stood up as tall as she could, but her brother still towered over her.

Grayfire stood there and watched the argument unfold. He wanted to attack Redtalon for interrupting their perfect evening, but that would end up with an angry she-cat and tom. "Why do you care anyway?" He asked and stared at Redtalon.

Redtalon ignored his sister's words and turned on Grayfire with a snarl, "I'll not see my sister used and hurt! I've seen how you all look at her!" His shoulder muscles rippled and he ground his claws into the rock, leaving marks.

Dreamflight flinched once, but held her ground and glowered up at her brother. She tensed when she sensed a physical confrontation coming and stepped between her brother and Grayfire. "No Redtalon. You won't harm him." She hissed and gave a sad look over her shoulder at Grayfire, "I'll come back to camp with you." Her eyes pleaded with Grayfire, hoping he'd understand why she would go back with Redtalon.

Grayfire snarled low and deep, but stayed where he was. He was surprised when Dreamflight said she'd leave. He looked at her with longing eyes; wanting her to stay and sleep here with him, to watch the sunrise.

((She can sneak out of camp once he falls asleep!))

Dreamflight smiled at Grayfire and mouthed, "Trust me." Her smiled vanished when she turned back to her brother with a hiss. "I hate this side of you Redtalon." She snarled and jumped off the rock in a couple of bounds.

Redtalon gave a snarl at Grayfire but followed after his sister, his tail lashing.

Grayfire's hope jumped back up when he knew what she meant. He growled back at Redtalon and watched them go. "Hurry..." He whispered to himself.

Dreamflight padded back into the swamp, relying on memory and instinct to drive her since it was hard to see. She flicked her tail, wondering if Grayfire would still be there. She hadn't seem in the warrior's den or on the way back to the swamp. Her heart pounded in her chest as she approached the rock. She leaped up gently and whispered, "Grayfire?"

Grayfire had laid down when Dreamflight left, and almost drifted to sleep. The sun was gone, and the moon was rising behind him. He was still sleepy, but her soft voice woke him up. He shot to his paws and smiled at Dreamflight. "Your back." He said.

"Of course." Dreamflight murmured and padded up to him so that their noses touched. "I'm sorry I left. I didn't want either of you to get hurt..." Her whiskers drooped sadly.

Grayfire chuckled and licked her muzzle quickly. "He couldn't have hurt me." He whispered and laid down.

Dreamflight smiled at Grayfire, "Maybe." She murmured again and curled up next to him, pressing against him for warmth and comfort. "I wish he never had found us." She whispered to herself.

Grayfire smiled and wondered what would've happened if he didn't. "You know what this means, right?" He asked.

Dreamflight tilted her head and peered at Grayfire, "What?" Even though it was night, the swamp was still full of sounds of life and she could hear the insects chirping and frogs croaking somewhere nearby. It sounded soothing to Dreamflight.

Grayfire sighed and looked down at her with an apologetic look. "We have to sneak behind Redtalon's back now, we usually don't care what he thinks. But I'm pretty sure he'll rip me to pieces if we see each other." He said.

Dreamflight looked sadly down at her paws, "I don't want to have to hide..." She murmured quietly then looked up at Grayfire. She shook her head, "Let's not talk about him anymore, not tonight. Dreamflight quietly buried her nose into Grayfire's shoulder. She felt embarrassed, but the contact felt right to her all the same.

"Grayfire," Dreamflight began nervously and looked down at her paws, "What were you about to ask me earlier?" She peered back at him, her eyes glinting in the soft moonlight.

Grayfire admired her as she talked and listened silently to her as she spoke. The moonlight sparkled down onto her fur, making her glow. He then realized she asked him something. "Oh, I um..." He started off nervously and looked down at his paws. "I wanted to know what you'd like to eat in the morning?"

Dreamflight looked back at her paws and whispered, "Oh." She couldn't help but feel disappointed, thinking he was going to ask something else. "I don't know yet." Dreamflight murmured and cast a side-long look at Grayfire, curiosity and longing in her eyes.

Grayfire decided to ask the real question somewhere else. He needed to make a grand gesture.

He then laid down on his side and smiled at Dreamflight.

A cool breeze blew and Dreamflight shivered and pressed closer to Grayfire before resting her head on her paws. "It must be passed moon-high now.." she murmured to herself, comforted by Grayfire's close proximity.

Grayfire smiled and scooted closer to Dreamflight for warmth, and to protect her if anything ventured out onto the swamp. He licked her cheek once before resting his head down and twining their tails together slowly as they both drifted to sleep.

Dreamflight shifted slightly in her sleep, repositioning her legs and tail so that they stretched out to her side, her back still curled up against Grayfire. She settled back into sleep quickly, breathing peacefully.

As the sun climbed up the sky, it's top rose over the horizon and warmed Grayfire's pelt. He woke up purring and looked down at Dreamflight with a smile. She looked so gorgeous as she slept beside him, curled into him. He didn't want to wake her, but he also wanted to surprise her. So, the tom carefully positioned himself on his stomach and rose to his paws slowly, keeping his eyes on Dreamflight. He then climbed down the rock and walked away from their sleeping place in search of something to eat. Grayfire prowled through the swamp until he spotted a large figure crawling through tall grass. He crouched down and stalked toward it slowly, until he got close enough. He then launched himself toward the creature with his claws unsheathed, and made sure to keep quiet. The warrior had caught a rabbit making it's way back to the forest. Allthough Grayfire would prefer something more scaly, he decided it was better than nothing. He picked up the prey and stalkes back to the rock, where he laid the rabbit down on some dry grass and climbed the rock to sit down next to Dreamflight.

Shortly after Grayfire returned, Dreamflight stirred out of her sleep, warmed by the morning sun on the rock and her fur. She blinked open her eyes sleepily, wondering where she was before she remembered yesterday. She peered around shyly and spotted Grayfire sitting near her and smiled up at him, "Good morning."

Grayfire smiled down at the awoken Dreamflight and flicked his tail back and forth happily. "Morning." He replied and glanced down the rock at the rabbit he left down there.

Dreamflight sat up with a yawn and peered around at the swamp in the early morning light. She purred slightly and flicked Grayfire's ear with her tail before noticing her empty stomach. She stretched out again and was about to ask if Grayfire wanted to hunt, but she noticed the smell of a rabbit. "Did you hunt already?" She asked curiously.

Grayfire looked back to Dreamflight and stared into her eyes, his glimmering. "Yes, I didn't want to wake you." He said softly and put a paw on her's gently.

Dreamflight purred as she met his gaze and stared back. "Thank you," she murmured after a few moments, feeling a little self conscious. She felt her breath catching in her throat as they stared at each other.
