Young Adult Historical Fiction discussion

How are you liking Navigating Early? What do you think of the characters and plot? Is the writing as good as that in Vanderpool's Newbery winner, Moon Over Manifest? *Please remember to put spoiler tags around anything that could be considered a major spoiler*

Just finished Navigating Early. Loved it!!! It is rare to have a male coming of age story that rings true and authentic. I also loved that it is a traditional quest story filled with mystery, danger, adventure and quirky characters. Like all good quest stories, the quest is about much more than the physical journey. In Jack's and Early's case, it is a journey of discovery: discovering how to be a friend, how to believe in yourself and trust others, how to forgive. Will definitely read this one again. I liked Moon Over Manifers a lot, but Navigating Early really touched me.
