Very late to this discussion, but I had the same reaction! It made me think of criminals in a different light. At one point they were all children struggling with their thoughts. Certainly invoked sympathy (but not empathy ;) ). Did you see the film?

I haven't seen the movie - but, will give it a shot.
I appreciate this story and many stories regarding sociopaths or insane criminals and this story and then the movie, was what the world needed, not only for the history of Dahmer but the warning signs of some people, and what is to be looked out for, but over all the graphic was amazing, it left me with a heavy burden but I enjoyed it, I loved the art style as well, it fit in to the era.

The last time I had a reaction like this was in last December, after seeing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, just thinking about Jyn Erso & Cassian Andor's (view spoiler)[final moments (hide spoiler)].
I also drifted in and out of sleep later that night; I couldn't stop thinking about My Friend Dahmer. Didn't have any dreams related to it, though -- however, I did dream up a scenario of the 1999 Columbine School shootings (the first true crime case I was truly obsessed with).
Maybe I'm just too excited in hopefully seeing the movie soon?
