((Behind the school is a massive forest that is closed off to everyone. Sometimes, students will be sent to gather ingredients for something from the forest, but only with a teacher to aid them. It is sometimes known as the clausa silvam. When in the forest, the sky seems to be a dirty gray, swarmed with so many clouds that not even the smallest ray of sunlight can seep through. In the forest, Reality is altered. Seconds turn into minutes. Minutes turn into hours. Hours turn into days and days turn into weeks. They say the forest is haunted as well, cursed, some call it.))

Amara let out a little whine as she trudged through the forest. A gray mist cloaked everything around her, like a veil that refused to be lifted. She sighed, as she found her footprints embedded in the dirt. She realized that she was walking in circles. It was a mistake to come into the forest, and she hoped that she could get out. Amara cursed under her breath, realizing that she could get into a lot of trouble for this.

Amara nervously walked forward as she heard the leaves crunching under someone's foot. She hummed Danse Macabre softly, hoping to calm her nerves. Amara gripped the strap of her black drawstring bag, the strap digging into her shoulder due to the weight of her textbooks. Amara took a deep breath, and in her shakiest voice, she asked: "I-Is anyone t-there?"

"Oh thank god.." she mumbled, sighing in relief as she began to take off in the direction of the voice. Amara's foot got caught on a twisted root, growing out of the ground. It seemed as if it attached itself to her ankle. She stumbled forward and everything came flying out of her backpack: textbooks, books on human body structure and anatomy, doll building and random pages of parchment with scribbles on it. Amara cursed herself for being so clumsy. She grabbed as much stuff as she could and crammed it back into her backpack.

Amara gently took the papers, then shoved them into her backpack. She away, averting eye contact. "Thanks..." she mumbled. "I got lost, I was looking for someplace quiet and thought the forest was a good place to go... Turns out I was wrong." She said with a soft chuckle. "Uh...What are you doing out here?"

Amara nodded. "The school, it just...so much to handle at times. So many people..." she said quietly. Amara wasn't a people person. She wasn't an anything person. Amara was fine being cooped up in her roommate-less dorm with her books.

Amara shook Nate's hand gently. She looked in his direction and smiled. "Amara," she said "It's nice to meet you" It was nice to meet someone who understood how she felt. Amara scanned Nate up and down. She guessed that they were about the same age, although he was a lot taller than she was. Actually, everyone was taller than Amara. She was petite and stopped growing at age 12, or well, she didn't actually know; Amara was just told that.

"Really? That's awesome!" exclaimed Amara, beaming. "I, well... I can bring things to life..I guess.." said Amara. "Shapeshifting is way cooler though!" she said. Amara disliked her abilities. They made her a freak, well that and her appearance. Amara started scanning the area around them. In the distance, she could just barely make out the outline of the towering school.

"So far, I can only do things like puppets, dolls, and small animals.." mumbled Amara. "And, actually...I'm quite lost." she said, embarrassed.

((Aah sorry for such a short post!))

Amara nodded and began to follow Nathan. "So, what do you think of the school?" she asked, trying to make conversation so their walk wasn't completely awkward.

"Do you miss your family?" she asked. It was an odd question, and Amara regretted it. "I can't really complain, I've been here for three years and I've never left. It's alright, but I wonder what going to a normal school would be like.."

Amara nodded. "I don't remember my family.." she said. "And I believe I used to go to a regular school when I was younger. I wish I could remember what it was like, although I bet it's just like how you described it." she spoke, trudging behind Nathan.

"I was removed from my school because of complaints by parents. I scared the other children and teachers. But from what I can remember, they bullied me because of my eyes and my personality." Amara said, sighing. She tried so hard to remember, but it only caused a headache. "Redthorn may be different, but it's a place that I'm treated a little bit better."

“It was.” She spoke, her gaze drifting away. “I-I should go now..uh...Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it.” Said Amara, smiling for the first time in a while. She made sure everything was in her bag, and made sure that it was securely zipped up. Alright, time to go back to school...I really really hope I don’t get in trouble... she thought worriedly.

“I have a free period right now, I believe.” Said Amara, raising her left wrist to eye level, gazing at the small watch on her small wrist. “Yep. Free period. I was just going to go to the library, probably.” She said awkwardly. “What...uh...What do you have?” Amara asked, mentally cursing for stuttering. She wished she wasn’t so awkward and shy, but that’s probably never going to happen anyways.

Amara tilted her head slightly. “Are you sure? I wouldn’t want you getting in trouble for missing the class..” she said. Amara then realized, that if someone saw them walking out of the forest, they could get in huge trouble.
She then decided that it honestly didn’t matter, she could have easily made up a lie to explain why they were there. Amara cracked a small smile, she found it odd how many times she had smiled today. “If you’re sure? then let’s go!” She chirped.

“Um..what would you like to know?” She asked. “I’m not that interesting..” mumbled Amara, rubbing the back of her neck. As they exited the forest, sunlight seemed to appear everywhere around her, causing her to squint tremendously. She was sensitive to overly bright things, spending a lot of time inside. Amara rubbed her left, crimson red eye. The right was a vivid green color. It was a condition called Heterochromia Iridum. Amara brushed her bangs out of her eyes and continued marching onward.

“....I want to use them to help people....” she said. “Maybe become a doctor, or a therapist. I want to heal people in ways that I couldn’t be.” She said confidently. The truth is, Amara had never told that to anyone. Most people didn’t believe that she could actually become something, but she was determined to prove them wrong. Amara really wanted to help people, mentally and physically. She possessed the power to heal both, but she unfortunately couldn’t heal herself.
“What about you?” Asked Amara.

"That sounds really nice.." she spoke, smiling back; wondering if Amara could ever have something like that. "I want to live my life, have new memories..stuff like that...Is there anything else you want to know?" she asked, speeding up her walking pace a bit.

Amara chuckled. "Do you really want to know? I-Uh..it's pretty...creepy.." I can't tell him? Can I? I don't want to scare Nathan away......It's not like it's bad or anything...but to most people other than myself, it's weird. It's just for practice? UGH.. thought Amara, mentally screaming. Her hobby was dollmaking/puppet making. Only for the sake of practicing her abilities until she could move onto bigger things. "What are your hobbies?" asked Amara, changing the subject.

"Are you kidding? That's awesome!" Amara beamed. "Do you think I could look at your work sometime?" she asked curiously. Amara was certainly enjoying this conversation. She secretly hoped that the subject change would throw Nathan off and he wouldn't ask about her hobbies again. It wasn't that big of a deal if he found out, but she didn't want him to think of her weirdly. "Alright, any sibling-" Amara started to speak, then cut herself off. "Uh- Favorite artist?" she asked.

"I'm very interested. And yes, classics!" she spoke, continuing to follow along. Amara tugged at one of the straps on her backpack because it had begun to slip. She noticed that they were approaching the school, and could see the massive doors that lead to one of the schools many stairwells.

"I'm not familiar with any of their artwork, but the names..." she began, then stopped walking. Amara was quickly in deep thought. Perhaps she had learned about them in school, and the memories were just locked away like the rest. "I probably just heard them somewhere..I was told I went to a lot of museums as a child.."
