To begin the year -- an unpublished "gem"???1. What We Bear 3 Stars
By Gretomy
http://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...
I knew before I started this was a story about marital abuse so I have no excuses for the rating -- just a hard story to actually like.

8. Curiosity and Correspondence 4 Stars
And one not on GR:
9. Paying the Price 3 Stars – not complete
The beginning story is complete with HEA for ODC but ... the author took a turn somewhere and decided to write a HEA for EVERY character in EVERY Jane Austen book EVER written!
Frederick Tilney appears; and then his brother; and then Catherine Morland; and then Tom Bertram and Susan Price; and then ... and then ... the author may have become as confused as the rest of us.

How do you find these, Rose? Curiosity and Correspondence looks like it's on its own separate blog/website. Paying the Price looks a bit.... bizarre. Way to start stacking up the books, though!
Debbie wrote: "How do you find these, Rose? Curiosity and Correspondence looks like it's on its own separate blog/website. Paying the Price looks a bit.... bizarre. Way to start stacking up the books, though!"I'm sure that 6, 7 & 8 were at one time or another mentioned here on GR. I have bookmarked lots of unpublished stories and recently took a look at them and decided I should either read or delete them.
Paying the Price is a decent mystery starting with Elizabeth being kidnapped (of course; will that girl ever learn to be cautious?). The criminals are all caught and punished by about 80% and the story shifts to getting Georgiana settled and characters from other JA stories keep popping into play. The author just got lost. Too bad. It could have been a good story with an epilogue at 80%!
I found #8 after i read another work by that author that I found on GR. Then i read more from the same website. They were posted on my list last year. That sounds interesting Rose, I'll have to try it.

Chortleworthy all the way!

Cool! Thanks for including the links. I haven't posted mine recently, but I couldn't resist reading "Is That Our Chambermaid in Disguise?" yesterday. Reads like a Regency "I love Lucy" episode. Love the ending!
No problems, we make use of limited character space and... in my case... being too lazy to type out the whole thing. There are some of us who are really creative with their initials. My favorite was when someone [you know who you are] used DHP and it took me forever to figure it out. I had to consider the context of the sentence and finally got it... Disastrous Hunsford Proposal. I love that one.
Jeanne, amazingly enough I read DHP this morning and I pondered it for a minute or two before the initials' meaning finally dawned on me! I also deleted my car insurance quote and paperwork from my inbox.......obviously not one of my brighter moments!!! 😉
LOL!!! Ooops! Perhaps I shouldn't laugh... I've done worse. My gradebook took more hits than I wish to admit. School technology was constantly changing and with it the learning curve for the teachers and staff. It was hilarious to see some of our goofs.
Retired teacher... my classroom gradebook. When we went from the old red bound hardcopy handwritten gradebook to the online electronic gradebook. Grrrrr! Technology drove some of the older teachers into early retirement. I kid you not.
No,I can well imagine the rush out the door when IT reared its ugly head.....some of us feel like dinosaurs in comparison to our younger colleagues!! Some of us reach for pen and paper to work out things/make lists etc. while the younger among us automatically reach for their phones!!! Enough said! 📕😉

Marlene: Good to know I am not alone... It took me a year to find out what POV stood for so I figured I would just ask this time 😛.
Yeah... CML... OK... that is taking this too far. Let me rephrase that.Yeah... Catherine Morland Level... shucks, it's not as much fun. Wait until you see some of the comments when they use initials for the book title. That is really fun.
Hi Rose! Congrats on your progress so far. Kind of knocks mine well into the shade. I've only just reached MDL (Kirk's beloved Marianne's level). Love this discussion about initials, by the way. Took me quite a while to work out ODC, ODG, ODB and WIP.
