Erin Nyren (erinnyren) So, I'm not exactly sure what to think of the book. I definitely enjoyed the story, and the format. Didn't find it quite as compelling as 1Q84 but they're totally different types of stories. I also can't really figure out what the "theme" would be, like what we're supposed to take away from the book.

I definitely saw it coming a few sections before that the Blind Assassin was actually written by and about Iris rather than Laura. V sad that Alex Thomas died.

The idea of generations seems pretty important to the book, and time passing, since Iris spends so long detailing the histories of the people in her family. And the main sadness of Iris' life is that she wasn't able to connect with her daughter or granddaughter. But it's hard for me to see how all the parts of the story come to any one conclusion, assuming one's looking for one.

I have to say Laura really annoyed me throughout the whole book, she seems like the sort of person who would drive me crazy in real life, the way she was always talking about things in imaginary senses and honestly seemed to act quite rudely to Iris a lot of the time -- although she was being raped at the time, so...that's probably an extenuating circumstance.

Anyway, very keen to hear everyone else's thoughts!
