I read this months ago but I loved it! It wasn't just a straight Beauty and the Beast retelling, I guess it also has some Russian folklore as well (I'm not familiar with the exact story) but I thought they were woven together perfectly. And I will forever love the parts with the dogs.
Love this book, Beauty is badass and not the regular damsel in distress. I just felt bad for Beast though because...oh..you know what beauty did to him :D
This book was amazing. I was really surprised to find it as captivating as I did when I knew the story it was based on. There were even twists I wasn't expecting. Beauty is an amazing character and I enjoyed watching the Beast change as the story progresses. I great retelling with great characters. There weren't any bad characters in my opinion.

I was the same way! Even though I knew the story I still didn't know exactly what was going to happen. I loved that.
I loved this book! It had great writing that flowed quite nicely and interesting characters. I really liked the way the book weaved in folk tales and had the tiny interludes with the Beast's perspective.Out of all of the fairytale retellings I've read, this one is pretty high up on my list!
I can’t wait to read this one. I actually brought it over the summer and have been reading other books but now (since this post) it’s next on my list.
This is, in my opinion, the best Beauty and the Beast retelling ever, hands down! The writing was gorgeous. Beauty was everything i wanted: strong, independent, intelligent, and beautiful. The Beast was awesome - I adored the mythology tie in and chapters from his point of view. The cover is one of my favorites of the year, and the snowy forest illustrations made me feel like I was in the book!
Honestly this was one of the best books I read this year. I really liked that the love story aspect wasn't really forced like some others, and I love that she was a hunter. It broke my heart that the Beast was living alone for centuries! I couldn't imagine how lonely that was, and how he ended up having almost two selves to deal with, his human self and his animal self. I wrote a review on this and I was just so happy with the journey I took reading this book.
