This one is kinda self-explanatory but kinda not. China Miéville, H.P. Lovecraft, and Jeff VanderMeer wind up on lists of weird fiction books a lot. I think I'll read The Library at Mount Char.

If you're looking for non-fiction, maybe try Atlas Obscura: An Explorer's Guide to the World's Hidden Wonders or What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions.

Jamie (indigenousalchemy) I'm going straight for Atlas Obscura

Icy-Cobwebs-Crossing-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 33 comments The Library at Mount Char is superb. {Can't go astray with HPL, Mieville, or VanderMeer either.} I also recommend Matt Ruff and Victor LaValle.

I loved Lovecraft Country and really appreciated The Ballad of Black Tom. I plan to read more from both authors.

For this challenge, I may have to keep Mount Char on hold as my "assigned" reading list for October is already daunting.
