Candi's 2018 Bingo Challenge
I don't really intend to have enough time to get a full bingo card, but a row or two will be my goal for this year. And, if I get lucky and complete more, then so be it! Looking forward to some great classics here :)
So glad you decided to do this. You'll see it's addictive and I better you'll end up with more than one row.
Thank you, Katy, Terris and Brina! I am excited to get started on this. Brina, I do get addicted to challenges, so I can imagine this won't be any different, lol! It's certainly fun to go for it :)
Yep, I'm betting with Brina. :-) You've got such great books here--I just added The First Violin--thanks!
Thank you, Kathleen and Connie! Kathleen - it seems The First Violin is somewhat obscure, but it looks so good!
Luffy wrote: "Great choices, Candi! I too haven't yet decided about the Free Space. Good luck!"Thank you, Luffy! I'm hoping to make a good dent in this challenge, and move some books off my shelf :) Good luck to you as well!
Veronique wrote: "Hadn’t heard of First Violin either.Good luck with your challenge :O)"
Thank you, Veronique! I hadn't heard of First Violin until I saw a wonderful review from a GR friend :)
I've read and reviewed my book for the Free Space. This book is a little-known gem and was an excellent read!
Elkhorn Tavern by Douglas C. JonesMy Review
I've checked off I2 - New to me author. An outstanding book and will make a point to read more of Edna Ferber's work in the future :)
So Big by Edna FerberMy Review
Luffy wrote: "Awesome, Candi! You're so prolific with books."Thank you, Luffy. I like to keep things interesting with a little variety :)
Terris wrote: "I'm definitely going to have to read something by Edna Ferber! Thanks for the recommendation :)"You really should read Ferber, Terris!
Completed G1, 19th century classic. Another fabulous book!
The Country of the Pointed Firs and Other Stories by Sarah Orne JewettMy Review
Kathleen wrote: "Glad you liked this one, Candi. I didn't get on with it myself, but I did enjoy your review!"Thank you, Kathleen. It certainly wouldn't have universal appeal, but it really worked for me :)
Completed N4 - Classic Play. Not a favorite and not on the same level as A Streetcar Named Desire, in my opinion.
The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee WilliamsMy Review
Finished my review of G5: 21st Century Potential Classic:
The Story of the Lost Child by Elena FerranteMy Review
I recently read and just reviewed
My Name Is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout. This book won the 2016 NAIBA Book of the Year for Fiction. I am using it to check off O1: Literary Prize of Your Country/Region. My Review
Veronique wrote: "Nice going and great reviews :O)"Thanks very much, Veronique! I am enjoying this challenge :)
Completed O5: Classic written by a Female Author:
The Women on the Porch by Caroline GordonMy Review
Completed O4: A Classic that you have put off reading
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles DickensMy Review
I've been putting that Dickens off for years, too, even though I thoroughly enjoy his books. That is quite an accomplishment to check off on the old Bingo card!
Tammy wrote: "I've been putting that Dickens off for years, too, even though I thoroughly enjoy his books. That is quite an accomplishment to check off on the old Bingo card!"Thanks, Tammy! I'm thoroughly pleased to tick that one off that list!
Candi wrote: "Completed I1: 20th Century Classic
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le GuinMy Review"
Great review, Candi and congrats on your completion!
Thank you, Connie! - However, I think there was some confusion, since I didn't finish the bingo yet! Not even a row, lol! I have quite a bit to go yet. Message 1 shows what I have checked off already :)

I read an old hardcover copy of Hunter's Horn by Harriette Simpson Arnow with publication date of 1949, 508 pages. The newer edition and kindle editions listed here have fewer pages, but my copy was quite hefty, so I am using it here for space I4: Classic of more then 500 pages. My Review
