HA's 2018 Pages Read Challenge!
Superb! I'm in. Looking forward to it again.
I'm going to keep track of my personal count too this year. By the time I thought it was a good idea, it would have taken a lot of time that I could have spent reading.

GR does that for you. If you go to your "My Books" page it has a link to your stats showing the number of books you've read and the total pages for each year.

I'm down a bit on both pages read and number of books. Not sure why. It certainly felt like I was reading just as much as last year. Guess I'll have to try harder this year. :) More books it is!!

not dissapointed with my 53 981 per 152 books this year. But do I include the last book into this challenge?

I always thought it started on January 1st, but I just noticed the dates... I would think wait for the actual new year

Sorry, but I'm confused by this page that was linked in the mail announcement:https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...
It says the books I add to the Pages read challenge have to be on a special shelf?!
In 2017, I just added all my read books' page counts but did not collect them on a special shelf - it was simply everything I've read that year...what's the difference now?
I am curious: why start Dec 21 instead of Jan 1 this time, when the 2017 count runs til Dec 31? Should I add books for the end of December to both lists then?Sorry for bothering you with this stuff...maybe I'm not fully awake yet to feel confused...

Elke, no worries! Goodreads automatically adds that bit about naming a shelf for any challenge. It did ask for a shelf name last year too. Since our challenge tracks pages and not books, just ignore that. All that's required for this challenge is that you come here, post a link or cover to your book and the page count. Then add your pages to the pages total listed in the post above yours. It's exactly the same as we did it last year. :)
I started all the challenges on the same day, so we could open up the shelf names for the ones that require it. Only include January totals here!
Bryndís wrote: "finished a book today, but read a major part in 2017: what to do with that?"For this challenge, I would add ONLY the pages read in 2018. If you can't really estimate it, don't list it and start here with the next book.

This challenge is now officially open! :)
I picked up Night Shift from my husband's collection. Most stories I'm familiar and started reading yesterday but not sure I want to add to my challenge just yet.
Correcting Arnis' total. Everyone, please be sure you are using the very latest total when adding your pages.2335 + 248 = 2583
The Ocean at the End of the Lane - Neil Gaiman - 126p The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains - 23
149 + 2717 = 2866
Strange Weatherby Joe Hill

Here's how it works:
Post the book cover or a link to the book, followed by the page count. Add your page count to the group count on the post above yours. That's it!
Any books count for this challenge, not just horror. Also, graphic novels and audiobooks DO count! (Just use the page total from the book itself for audios.)
