Very interesting set of books. I know Ken, of course, and maybe Kim Young, but I don't recognize the other names. I'll be curious to learn about them.
You've gotten very close to the goal this year (and I know you often read more than you review). Well done! I missed goodreads this year and am hoping to be more active in 2019.
This past month or so I've lost my energy for reviewing. I still have one chapbook I was solicited to review, and I enjoyed it, but every time I sit at my computer I feel like I'm saying the same thing over and over. I feel like a balloon with a slow leak, the energy fizzing out.
It sounds like it's time for a break for you. The books we enjoy are often the hardest to review. I've never figured out why that is. And in general it just takes a lot of time--even just looking back over a book to see which lines we'd like to share. I think the added pressure of someone asking you to review would only make it more challenging, especially when you're just feeling tapped out. If it wasn't a long one can you communicate with the person to say you're feeling exhausted at the moment and don't feel you can do it justice until after you've taken a break and come back to it?
Thanks for the support, Jen, I truly appreciate it. I think the issue is mostly that it's a very short chap, so I don't want to quote too extensively, and so far every paragraph I've written sounds like the old a rose is a rose is a rose. I'll try and finish it over the weekend.
Although, even with my preceding comments, I am looking forward to this group and 2019. I have discovered so many new-to-me poets through this group.
