Tracking Spreadsheet
Important info:*Only books STARTED after the challenge begins can count. The challenge starts on Thursday 1, 2016 at 7pm AEDST (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time). To see when this is in your time zone, use this countdown
*Books must be more than 100 pages in length. If it is a Childrens book or a graphic novel, we need to verify it is more than 25,000 words on arbookfind.com.
*Your finished books need to be on your Uno shelf AND marked as "read" for them to count.
* Please make notes of how your book may count. The more options we have the better! (Letters used in UNO are Z,O,T,H,F,I,V,E,S,N,K,P and of course if another team member has read the book before. Please friend our team members!). The tracking spreadsheet can be used for this.
*For coloured cards, the cover needs to be 50% or more of the colour by using this colour tool. If in doubt, ask me or Callyn as we can check it and/or take to the captains group for another opinion
* Remember we're here to have fun and read lots of books because we love them, if you have any questions o problems, let us know, so we can help you, this is a team game =)
Hello everyone, My name is Paula, I'm 27 years old, I live in Santiago, Chile with my parents and siblings, I'm a Chemical Engineer, I graduated on july 2017, so currently I'm looking for a job.
I loove reading challenges, this is my 3rd UNO and I'm happy t be here. I read 3 to 4 books per month, and I read almost any genre, but mainly fantasy. Harry Potter is what got me into reading when I was 11 back in 2001.
My native language is spanish, so mainly I read in spanish, but that's ok, I read some books in english too. My grammar isn't always great, but I practice my english as much as I can =P
I hope we'll have a great time playing UNO this year, also, if you have any problem or question, let us know ^^
Hi Paula and Team, It’s so nice to meet you! I’m looking forward to reading with you all. :) This is my first challenge and I’m excited to begin.
I just turned 30 and live in San Diego, CA in the US. I recently started a new job where I travel a lot. So, I listen to audiobooks while I drive or fly which has gotten me very much into reading again. My favorite book genre right now are mystery novels but I’m always trying to explore and am open to any book recommendations.
Hello team!I had a slower than average reading year in 2017, and hoping to pick back up again this one. I still set my goal as lower than I'd like, but we shall see how it plays out.
I'm a huge history/science book nerd, but I also have a love for epic fantasy, grimdark, and Holmes pastiche.
Looking forward to playing Uno with you all. :)
Hello team!I am Kate. I live a few miles outside of Washington, DC on the Virginia side. I am an avid reader and like to read anything I can get my hands on!
I enjoyed the challenge of UNO last year and am looking forward to doing it again.
Hello all! I'm Nicole and I'm from Ontario, Canada. I am an avid reader of everything (AND I DO MEAN EVERYTHING!) my read list is everything from JAFF (Jane Austen fan fiction), to Bizarro and every normal genre in between. I write a book review blog where I pair a book with a cocktail that matches its feel, characters or content... So, I'm just generally a nerdy conisseur! Looking forward to having some fun! 😁
Hello, I am Leslie from Parker Colorado. I love reading (of course) , playing tennis and traveling. We are headed to Hawaii in 8 days,! I try to go on at least 2 trips a year. I am retired so I have the time to read and travel. Callyn - I graduated from SDSU a long time ago.
Daphne - Hi
Looking forward to playing and getting to know all of you!

Cruise on the Nile for Egypt and then a jaunt to Jordan for the mosaics and Petra. :)

I love travelling too! how awesome Hawaii!! and Egypt so exotic!I've been to Brasil (Maceio) and Colombia (Cartagena de Indias, Tayrona), besides from my own country Chile, wich is pretty beautiful with a wide range of landscapes, we have the Atacama Desert in the north , the rainy forest in south, the Chiloé island wich is pretty mystic, and Easter Island (or Rapa Nui, that I still have to go to).
You should come to Chile eventually, I hope I can travel a lot too someday. :)
Hi everyone! I'm Kiara and I'm from Hawaii. I'm super excited to join you guys during this UNO Challenge since this is my first one! Last year was my first year getting into reading so I essentially went from 0 books in 2016 to 60 in 2017 and I'm super excited for this new year of reading. I like to read basically anything but I'm definitely a mood reader.I'm not exactly sure how all the rules work in this challenge but I'm sure that with you guys and a little bit of time will change that. I'm hoping to have some new reading buddies through this challenge! Really looking forward to it!
Leslie - It's cool that you're heading to Hawaii! If you don't mind sharing, which island?
Leslie wrote: "Kiara, Maui . I have never been so very excited!"Cool! I'm from Maui myself so I'm a bit biased but I really do think it's the best island. You'll love it! Super excited for you!
Leslie wrote: "Kiara awesome! Any tips for a first timer? We are staying at Napili Bay."Oh so you're gonna be on Lahaina side! That area has really nice beaches so that's always fun. My must-do on Maui would definitely be the Road to Hana so if you have the chance, you should do it!

Thanks Kiara, we are definitely going to do that!!! I am excited to see whales and snorkel!!!
In this post I left some important info about the challenge, if you have doubts, ask freely, surely someone who'd played before can answer, or I can ask in the captain's group if necessary. Also, the tasks for each card is here
Please pay atention to these two:
Wild
Read a book that can fit for any of the cards in that SAME hand (i.e. you are duplicating one of the cards in that same hand)
Wild draw four
Read a book that can fit for any of the coloured cards you have that month (i.e. you are duplicating one of your coloured cards)
Hey everyone! I'm so sorry for not checking in sooner, I've been having a rough few weeks (breakup with boyfriend), but I'm excited for this challenge! This will be my fourth year doing UNO, so I started pretty young since I'm sixteen now. I'm excited to get to know everyone!
So good to have you Kirsten, now we're complete =)I'm sorry for what you're going through, and hope that reading can be a good therapy ^^

I had high hopes, I am also a reader of royal history, but alas, I have not read any of these titles on your upcoming list. Although, I may need to consider adding them...
I have identified the following books as ones I will save to read in February for this challenge:
Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams
The Beak of the Finch: A Story of Evolution in Our Time by Jonathan Weiner
The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard
I am a fast reader, and read a lot of books. Last year, I was pleased to find most of my books found a home somewhere in the UNO challenge, I expect to find the same this year.
While I do not read a lot of series, I do read a variety of authors and can usually find titles that meet the needs of the cards. I struggle with colored cards, but am willing to make an effort to read to meet our current needs.
Hope everyone is staying warm and finding new characters to enjoy!
I usually try to do longer series since those easily knock out the series part of 1-9. I’m not sure exactly what series I’ll do this year, but it will probably be I Am Number Four. It’s Science Fiction and YA. Do I need to create a spreadsheet like we’ve had in previous seasons? I can’t seem to find one for us on this thread...
I posted a tracking spreadsheet in the posts above, anyway, this is the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15DSr4J0uax6wRt-E1qNmtUxNxhfHYkKIfIJbr-KCvkw/edit#gid=0
Hi guys,Hope everyone had a great weekend :)
I'm going to (attempt to) read the following books:
- The Dream of a Common Language by Adrienne Rich (Blue/ Card #4)
- The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman (Card #3)
- The Silence of the Library by Miranda James (Card #5)
- The Vanishing Tourist by Matthew Costello (Card #7)
- The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter (Skip Card)
- Collins the Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie (Blue/ Card # 4/ Wild Draw 4)
- Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (Skip Card)
I'll enter these in the tracker!
Are you ready?? The start of UNO is just around the corner!!
To while away the time a little as we're waiting for the countdown to run out, you could help Snoopy increase his tiny TBR pile and give him some recommendations on what to read next.

Just swing by THIS THREAD for more information and some awesome recommendations. You might just meet your next favourite book!
Yess! I just finished a book and I'm not sure if I want to start another right away or wait until the 1st =P
Has anyone entered their books into the official spreadsheet? Just wanna remind everyone that it's how we're going to be awarded points.
Kirsten wrote: "Has anyone entered their books into the official spreadsheet? Just wanna remind everyone that it's how we're going to be awarded points."I thought only captains could do that.
Daphne wrote: "Kirsten wrote: "Has anyone entered their books into the official spreadsheet? Just wanna remind everyone that it's how we're going to be awarded points."I thought only captains could do that."
It is only captains. Just wanted to see if the other two had done anything and I couldn't see it.
I prefer to add the books when they're finished, I'm a mood reader, so I don't know what book I'm reading next. Also, I take note of all the characters, places, etc so the books can be move around if we need to. That's why we should use the tracking spreadsheet, to have all the information possible :)
I think we should search for color books, those could be difficult =S
Only 17 hours to start the challenge, for me it'll start at 5 am, so as soon as I wake up, I'll start reading =)I was thinking that we should post our completion posts in here like this:
Book:
Author:
Date read:
Card It Can Be Used For: List as many options as possible and how it fits (character, setting, author, title, etc)
For Reverse - Read by: **
Happy first day of UNO!!!I have a question about the tracking spreadsheet: Do you prefer us to use it as a planning sheet or would you prefer we only put our books on once we have finished them?
Also, I notice some color coding of the titles, is that to show the color of the cover or for something else?
My first three books will be:
The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David LagercrantzAn Unnecessary Woman by Rabih Alameddine
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
I will post with details as I finish them.
Kate S wrote: "Happy first day of UNO!!!I have a question about the tracking spreadsheet: Do you prefer us to use it as a planning sheet or would you prefer we only put our books on once we have finished them?

Happy first day of UNO too =)
We can use the tracking spreadsheet as a planning sheet, (that's how I use it personally), and when the book is finished we can add the read date.
And yes! the colors in my books are there because of the covers, they can be used for colored cards =)
Today I started
I think it'll be a quick read
Hello everyone!Super excited to be started UNO!
I'm gonna be starting What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler today and hopefully finishing haha!
The next two books I'm looking to read are Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han and I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios.
I'm gonna be adding the books to the spreadsheet as I read them since plans change since I'm a mood reader!
Good luck everyone!
