~ please make a UNO 2018 goodreads shelf and link to it in this thread

~ Your finished books need to be on your Uno shelf AND marked as "read" for them to count.

Draw 2
Use the same book for two cards in this hand (and get points for both cards)

Reverse
One member of your team must read a book another team member has already read

Wild
Read a book that can fit for any of the cards in that SAME hand (i.e. you are duplicating one of the cards in that same hand)

Wild draw four
Read a book that can fit for any of the coloured cards you have that month (i.e. you are duplicating one of your coloured cards)

Coloured cards
Special coloured cards will be randomly provided each month. for these cards you need to read for the card number (as above) and the book must also have a coloured cover for the colour specified (blue, red, yellow or green)

For each book read to match a 0-9 card, the team gets 20 points
For each book read to match a Skip or Reverse, the team gets 25 points
For each book read to match a wild or Wild draw four card the team gets 30 points
For each book read to match a special Coloured card, the team gets 30 points
For each hand completed, the team gets a bonus 15 points

~ this is a social challenge - the aim is to meet new people, challenge your reading, share your favourite books, and have fun!

How Team Ceres Will Play

We won't be "claiming cards" - please read what you like!

There will be a tracking spreadsheet (coming soon!) and you can request edit access - you can enter your currently reading/completed books into the spreadsheet, and you will be able to list all the cards your book fits into.

If you prefer, you can post a completion post into this thread and a captain will enter your book and the cards it fits for you.
(Don't worry if the above doesnt make sense yet, it will be clear when you see the spreadsheet!)

The captains will manage the official spreadsheet - it becomes a giant jigsaw puzzle as we shuffle books around to fit in the last few days of the month!

In the last week or two of the month, we will ask for volunteers to read books that fit certain cards if we need something covered, but usually we can cover everything :)

Sorry for the delay in getting the thread open...but it was my birthday ;)

I'm now 33 (sob!), married and living in a scorching summer in Sydney.

This is my third UNO challenge.

Looks like we might have some new faces - UNO should come with a disclaimer because it is seriously addictive, just warning you!

Uno is an awesome challenge - lots of fun, but also with a lot of freedom to read what you like (and pick up lots of book recommendations!).

Have a read through the above posts, and let me know if you have any questions.

Please check in and introduce yourself, make sure you have a UNO bookshelf set up, and request access to the tracking spreadsheet when it's up.

If you like, please let us know a few of your Five Star reads from 2017 that you would recommend to team members as a reverse card for UNO.

Aloha, everybody! I'm Lauri from Hawaii & I'm so excited to be here! This is my 3rd time playing UNO. *Fun Fact*: I have never played the actual game of UNO in real life!

I like to read several books simultaneously & this seems to come in handy during the game... I also have a lot of series reads. I cannot negotiate the spreadsheets, so I will ask for help there. I can read them, but can't edit... So thank you everyone in advance.

I also love to chat, so feel free. One can never have too many friends! 😄

Actually, I shared the most books with YOU! Too funny! Love Susan Wittig Albert and MC Beaton. Love mysteries with bad puns in the titles. I have eclectic taste. I'm trying to put all my Christmas reads behind me so I'll be ready to move on for UNO!

Does anyone have any suggestions for the coloured cards that we have to read? I usually find it difficult in finding coloured cards... So pls suggest.

Oh Yes I am!! I am hooked. LOL. Love the TV series ( even though I am so behind. Thank God for Netflix). I love zombie/apocalypse reads with a lot of colorful characters. LOL

Ha ha that is funny. I do like the MC Beaton series when I'm tired and need some light entertainment. I tried watching the tv series but I couldn't get into it - Agatha was better in my imagination!

Hi all. I just received an email that I am joining you so I’m a little late to the party but i’m here! This is my first time playing Uno but I have done a few other team challenges with other groups. I am looking forward to this challenge!

I am a 30 something with 3 kids (2 teens and a kinder). I am currently covering a maternity leave in a preschool but in 7 weeks I will have lots of extra time. I’m a big reader and love historical fiction and fantasy.
