I'm starting to feel a little sorry for the Mum.
It's realistic that she wants to 'cure' Lily. Although I do not agree with it, and as sad as it is, some parents don't want children with ADHD or autism. It's just too much for them. They want them to be 'normal'.
I had guessed that the Mum was probably protecting Lily by not letting her see her Dad (I do think she's actually a very good Mum). But I did not expect him to have a whole new family!
It's really cute that the pair text at 7 every day. It's realistic to Abelard's autistic character.
I laughed out loud (on the train) when Abelard's Mum threw the glass at the wall!
It was also good to see a different side to Abelard; a much more sever side. It shows that although Autism can be help, it can never be completely stopped. And I personally don't think it should ever be. I'm quite shocked at how the Dad reacted though. I guess it's good to see that some parents can accept their child (Abelard's Mum) and some parents just don't get it (Abelard's Dad).
I thought the way Lily dealt with the situation was true to her ADHD and her character. But the ability Abelard's Mum had to persuade her to stay once again shows that autism and ADHD isn'y something that can or needs to be cured, but it is something that can be worked on and improved.
The texts exchanged in chapter 24 were perfection!
I also REALLY LOVE the Dr! His understanding of Lily really helps us understand her more I think.
I'm glad she's having the surgery mainly because it's purpose isn't to 'cure' or change her.
