The Boat Deck
The entrance to the First Class Grand Staircase and gymnasium were located midships along with the raised roof of the First Class lounge, while at the rear of the deck were the roof of the First Class smoke room and the relatively modest Second Class entrance.

The First Class Smoke Room
A "late night" lounge where 1st class male passengers could congregate. It was considered by many to be one of the grandest and most expensive rooms on the ship, decorated with dark mahogany wood with intricate carvings and inlaid mother of pearl patterns, red and blue lino tiles, and stained glass windows, with interior windows being electrically illuminated. At the center of the room was a large marble coal-burning fireplace, the only working fireplace on the ship. The room was U-shaped to vent out smoke from the fireplace and smoke from cigars, which were imported.
The room was exclusively for men, a place to socialize and discuss matters of business, smoke, drink, and play games of chance (except on Sundays).

First Class Lounge
The lounge had beautiful stained glass windows, and an extravagant fireplace. It was a place for 1st-Class passengers to socialize, play cards, have Tea, or read a book.

First Class Promenade
The Promenade was over 500 feet long and was the place to be seen and see other notable 1st-class passengers.

First Class Reading and Writing Room
The Georgian First Class Reading and Writing Room was intended to be a ladies retreat following dinner similar to a Drawing Room. Books could be borrowed from the Lounge and writing desks were provided for the use of writing letters to home or to send postcards.

Veranda Cafe and Palm Court
The rooms were light and airy and had large windows looking out to sea. The rooms shared a pantry with the smoke room forward allowing for light refreshments. The room had beautiful trellised decor and had cane furniture. One of the rooms was used as a play room for the first class children.

The B Deck, also called the Bridge Deck, was the top weight-bearing deck and the uppermost level of the hull. More First Class passenger accommodations were located here, with six palatial cabins featuring their own private promenades. The A La Carte Restaurant and the Café Parisien provided luxury dining facilities to First Class passengers.

The C Deck, also called the Shelter Deck, was the highest deck to run uninterrupted from stem to stern. First Class Barber Shop, Purser's Office and Maid's and Valet's Saloon are on this deck.

The E Deck is the 6th deck from the bottom. Its a lower middle deck, where many crews cabins, mainly concentrated in the Scotland Road. Scotland Road was a long corridor that ran the entire length of the ship along the port side of E Deck. It was used by crew members and steerage passengers to quickly move between the ends of the ship.

The F Deck was set apart to 12 sections with the water tight doors. It started flooding at around 12:00-12:10am. The Sections below are from bow to stern:
This included the Squash Racquet Court, linen rooms (laundry),
the Swimming Bath as part of the Turkish Bath complex.
Also located on this deck was the third class dining room and pantry, the bakery, bakers and butchers cabins, and the third class gallery. Towards the end was the engine casing and engineers quarters.

The early part of the 20th century saw a fierce competition between ocean liners and shipping companies, which strove to build the biggest and fastest ships. Upon its launch, the Titanic was the largest ship ever built.

The Titanic was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Thomas Andrews, her architect, died in the disaster.

The Titanic was not only notable as a large ship, but also as a first class luxury liner. It boasted a pool, gym, Turkish bath, squash court and its own newspaper. Its lavish interiors drew inspiration from London's Ritz Hotel and featured an oak-paneled Grand Staircase decorated with paintings and cherubs.

The Boat Deck
The entrance to the First Class Grand Staircase and gymnasium were located midships along with the raised roof of the First Class lounge, while at the rear of the deck were the roof of the First Class smoke room and the relatively modest Second Class entrance.

The First Class Smoke Room
A "late night" lounge where 1st class male passengers could congregate. It was considered by many to be one of the grandest and most expensive rooms on the ship, decorated with dark mahogany wood with intricate carvings and inlaid mother of pearl patterns, red and blue lino tiles, and stained glass windows, with interior windows being electrically illuminated. At the center of the room was a large marble coal-burning fireplace, the only working fireplace on the ship. The room was U-shaped to vent out smoke from the fireplace and smoke from cigars, which were imported.
The room was exclusively for men, a place to socialize and discuss matters of business, smoke, drink, and play games of chance (except on Sundays).

First Class Lounge
The lounge had beautiful stained glass windows, and an extravagant fireplace. It was a place for 1st-Class passengers to socialize, play cards, have Tea, or read a book.

First Class Promenade
The Promenade was over 500 feet long and was the place to be seen and see other notable 1st-class passengers.

First Class Reading and Writing Room
The Georgian First Class Reading and Writing Room was intended to be a ladies retreat following dinner similar to a Drawing Room. Books could be borrowed from the Lounge and writing desks were provided for the use of writing letters to home or to send postcards.

Veranda Cafe and Palm Court
The rooms were light and airy and had large windows looking out to sea. The rooms shared a pantry with the smoke room forward allowing for light refreshments. The room had beautiful trellised decor and had cane furniture. One of the rooms was used as a play room for the first class children.

The B Deck, also called the Bridge Deck, was the top weight-bearing deck and the uppermost level of the hull. More First Class passenger accommodations were located here, with six palatial cabins featuring their own private promenades. The A La Carte Restaurant and the Café Parisien provided luxury dining facilities to First Class passengers.

The C Deck, also called the Shelter Deck, was the highest deck to run uninterrupted from stem to stern. First Class Barber Shop, Purser's Office and Maid's and Valet's Saloon are on this deck.

The E Deck is the 6th deck from the bottom. Its a lower middle deck, where many crews cabins, mainly concentrated in the Scotland Road. Scotland Road was a long corridor that ran the entire length of the ship along the port side of E Deck. It was used by crew members and steerage passengers to quickly move between the ends of the ship.

The F Deck was set apart to 12 sections with the water tight doors. It started flooding at around 12:00-12:10am. The Sections below are from bow to stern:
This included the Squash Racquet Court, linen rooms (laundry),
the Swimming Bath as part of the Turkish Bath complex.
Also located on this deck was the third class dining room and pantry, the bakery, bakers and butchers cabins, and the third class gallery. Towards the end was the engine casing and engineers quarters.

The Boat Deck
The entrance to the First Class Grand Staircase and gymnasium were located midships along with the raised roof of the First Class lounge, while at the rear of the deck were the roof of the First Class smoke room and the relatively modest Second Class entrance.

The First Class Smoke Room
A "late night" lounge where 1st class male passengers could congregate. It was considered by many to be one of the grandest and most expensive rooms on the ship, decorated with dark mahogany wood with intricate carvings and inlaid mother of pearl patterns, red and blue lino tiles, and stained glass windows, with interior windows being electrically illuminated. At the center of the room was a large marble coal-burning fireplace, the only working fireplace on the ship. The room was U-shaped to vent out smoke from the fireplace and smoke from cigars, which were imported.
The room was exclusively for men, a place to socialize and discuss matters of business, smoke, drink, and play games of chance (except on Sundays).

The early part of the 20th century saw a fierce competition between ocean liners and shipping companies, which strove to build the biggest and fastest ships. Upon its launch, the Titanic was the largest ship ever built.

The Titanic was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Thomas Andrews, her architect, died in the disaster.

On its fatal maiden voyage, it held 2,240 passengers, but it could accommodate 2,435 passengers and 900 crew members at full capacity.

After leaving Southampton on 10 April 1912, Titanic called at Cherbourg in France and Queenstown (now Cobh) in Ireland before heading west to New York.

Just under two hours after the Titanic sank, the Cunard liner RMS Carpathia arrived at the scene, where she brought aboard an estimated 705 survivors.

The ship was deemed "unsinkable," but despite this claim, it had a critical design flaw. Although the ship included watertight compartments in the bulkheads, water could spill over each individual bulkhead into the next.

Famous victims of the disaster include the ship's captain, Edward Smith, its first officer, William McMaster Murdoch, Benjamin Guggenheim and John Jacob Astor IV, who was the richest passenger onboard. Famous survivors include Noel Leslie, Countess of Rothes and Molly Brown.

The ocean liner carried some of the wealthiest people in the world, as well as hundreds of emigrants from Great Britain and Ireland, Scandinavia and elsewhere throughout Europe who were seeking a new life in the United States.

Passenger Facilities
The Titanic was not only notable as a large ship, but also as a first class luxury liner. It boasted a pool, gym, Turkish bath, squash court and its own newspaper. Its lavish interiors drew inspiration from London's Ritz Hotel and featured an oak-paneled Grand Staircase decorated with paintings and cherubs.

The wreck of Titanic was first discovered in 1985 (more than 70 years after the disaster), and the vessel remains on the seabed.
