April 2018 Group Read Nominations
I have to nominate this. I'm planning to re-read it anyway, for the third time! :)
We Won't Feel a Thing
I will second Jayme's nomination of "Tails of the Apocalypse." Haven't read it yet, but that's a perspective I haven't come across before.
I would like to nominate Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer. It is technically a children's book but it touches on a range of genres and topics I find fascinating!
Hi Marco,The rule states that you may only nominate one book. If you are going to link to a book, please use the "add book/author" option above the comment thread so that you can link to the book's page on Goodreads.
As it did not adhere to the rules, I have deleted your comment.
Thanks for participating! Let me know if you have any questions!

Has Anyone Seen Jessica Jenkins?
Hi, I'm new to the group. I'd like to second Tails of the Apocalypse. That looks fun and interesting!
Hi Lisamarie,Per group rules I have to delete your nomination. There is no self-promotion allowed for group read nominations.
You can feel free to tell us about your book in the Author's folder!
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for participating!
Hello, my name is Hari, and my nomination for April's group read is: "Welcome to the Pox Party: The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing". Classified as Y A, it is more than that.
Looking at some of these nominations I'm going to be cheeky and point out that the name of this group is
Brilliant
Books You've Never Heard Of. Not 'Random' Books You've Never Heard Of. Or, 'A new series I started last week and thought was pretty cool....'
I'd like to nominate the beautifully written (and yes, brilliant) In the Company of Angels by N. M. Kelby. In the Company of Angels It is superb literary fiction.

Everyone has a different idea of what they find Brilliant. :)
It can be fun to branch out and see what other folks identify with.
Hari wrote: "David,"Octavian Nothing" IS brilliant, both in conception and execution. Read it and you will see."
Hari, that I happened to post after your post did not mean that I was referring to Octavian, which does look very good and unusual. :)
I second In the Company of Angels. Tough choice, though, with 13 books to choose from (so far), of which more than half look like great reads! :)
I've had a copy of In the Company of Angels for a long time, but I just looked it up on Amazon and noticed that it isn't available as an e-book so it might be difficult for members to access (hence the "Brilliant Books You've Never Heard Of" - in that respect maybe I nominated without enough due diligence.

So if it gets voted for it shouldn't be too tricky for people to get their hands on.
Lesser known books can be interesting to track down, but don't feel bad about nominating them. Folks still have to vote. :)

1. All nominations must meet the following criteria:
-Published in or after 1960, but at least 6 months old
-No more than 5,000 Goodreads ratings
-No self-promotion
2. Each member may nominate ONE book per month
3. Each member may also second ONE book per month
If someone else nominates a book that you are interested in, simply post that you would like to SECOND that book to give it another nomination vote.
4. We will vote on the five books that have the most seconds for the month's read
If less than five books receive seconds, I will pick whatever other nominated books have the highest star rating to round out the five needed for the poll.
Happy Nominating!
