SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

I've been trying to remember the author of a series I've read in the past, but I don't have a lot of info about the series. The main thing I remember is that it was a fantasy series with people that rode horse sized lizards through a desert. That wasn't the main point of the series, but that is what I remember the most. The lizard riders were in a society and climate similar to the Middle East. I seem to remember something big about stained glass as well.

I read the books probably about 10-15 years ago, and it was a complete series. So it was probably written in the late 90s or early 2000s.

There's other things I think I remember, but I might be confusing it with other books so I don't want to add it and throw people off. I just remember I liked them a lot and I wanted to see if that author had any other books, and maybe re-read this series, because I obviously need a refresher. I know this is a long shot, but any help is appreciated....and it couldn't hurt to learn about other books with lizard riders if I don't find what I'm looking for.

That's not it, but I appreciate the suggestion. I got in a phase where I would go into the book store and pick up random books in the SF/Fantasy section and read their back cover. If I liked the idea of it I would buy 2 or 3 at a time. After numerous moves, I lost a box of books somewhere, and those were in it.

It looks like The Eyes of God by John Marco. There is a character that has a club foot that ends up going to the desert and fighting from a horse sized lizard. Think the stained glass was from a battle in a library or church they were trying to defend.

Hubs thinks maybe one of the Dark Sun books?

Bill you are a Genius! That is it, and it looks like he came out with a 4th book since I read the series. I definitely recognize the covers of the first 3 books, and now I am remembering a lot more after reading the description. Thanks for the help.
