Ever since his brief encounter with Emilia at The Shade, Derek's thoughts and dreams have been haunted with images of the mysterious, beautiful brunette. Plagued with guilt, he struggles to understand why he is so drawn to this dark stranger from his past.

When Emilia suddenly appears again on the island, Derek is both terrified and intrigued. But this time, he is determined to involve Sofia and discover who this woman is.

If only Derek and Sofia knew, Emilia is a mystery that should be left undiscovered...

finished this book today :) and hope to continue with the rest of the series until I get tired (view spoiler)[ this series is getting more and more weird. It's kind of strange since I'm watching The Originals and they are both as ridiculous as each other (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ but the book always ends in a way that has me hooked enough to read the next one in the series. This was no different because now Derek is human and the darkness's son Kiev (I think) is going to hunt down Derek and Sofia's child (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ But honestly for most of this book all I was thinking was what a bitch Emilia was and even then we couldn't blame her properly because of the darkness that is controlling her. Also Sofia was too much of a lost lamb without Derek for my liking, too much Bella Swan in her. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ all in all the book was good but this series is 50 + books long now so I am seriously wondering how long it's going to take for the author to run out of ideas and start repeating itself like The Morganville Vampire Series. But I will continue with the series until I get annoyed with the main characters, probably (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Ch 6. (view spoiler)[I don't remember Emilia beyond the end of the 4th book. AM I suppose to know about her and Derek's past? Not sure I forgot as it has been awhile since books 1-3 or if we are still to learn about her.. (hide spoiler)]

CH 21 (view spoiler)[Crap-she is Cora?!?! How? What the?! And Vivienne is down for the count...Trouble! (hide spoiler)]

Ch 29 (view spoiler)[Tricky mind powers she has! How is Aiden so quickly fooled by Ingrid again?!. (hide spoiler)]

I should be getting Gate of Night sometime this week. Ugh. Library system is taking forever, but I did have to request it from the other side of the state so...

Ch 6 (view spoiler)[I though Kiev would be waiting longer until he could go after Sophia. Is she pregnant already and how can he tell if that is the case?!. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 24 (view spoiler)[The timeline is moving so fast and the jumping to different characters and what is happening is making my head spin a bit.. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 34 (view spoiler)[Crap! She killed Sam?! He was one of my favorites! I really really hope she couldnt witness it but I think she did. Oh the guilt, even knowing it wasn't really you. And to suffer alone like that. (hide spoiler)]

Hi everyone :) I know I'm not reading this series with you all but I have read a LOT of them. I made it all the way to A Bridge of Stars (Book 24) before I stopped reading it. I LOVED Derek & Sofia's story (books 1-7).

Rose & Caleb's story (books 8-16) I thought were pretty good for the most part :) and The Shade continues with a new hero: Ben and River (Books 17-24) I felt it went way downhill and I struggled to get through them.

How is everyone else enjoying it??

Book I will fix it when I get to a computer. Sorry my shift key is always sticking! Drives me crazy as I am constantly correcting words.

@Christina I really liked Derek and Sophia’s story. Excited to continue although after book 7 it’s a shade of Kiev series that I am most wanting to read.

@Jamie, Yeah I readA Shade of Kiev trilogy too. It was pretty good. I liked (book 2) the best though :) When will you be starting it?

Where are the readers? I was suppose to start later in the series while others start ahead but if no one starts soon, I will on book 8.

I'm gonna knock out some other books first since theyre library books that are due back later this week, then read a few for this since they're KU and i don't have to get them done by a deadline. Sorry!!
